Chapter 2 - School

"Are you ready, Ian?" Tyler asked as she was buttoning up her shirt.

"Kind of." Ian came out with his shoes on the wrong feet.

"Oh."

"Today is your first day of kindergarten, isn't that right?" Tyler held Ian by the hand as they walked down the street.

"Will it be fun?" Ian looked up at Tyler.

"I'm pretty sure it will be. Make lots of friends, alright?" Tyler smiled.

Ian then began to shudder at the thought.

"You will be fine..."

After a long walk, the two finally made it to Honey Oaks kindergarten.

"We will take care of little Ian here." The teacher smiled.

"Thank you very much." Tyler thanked her for the reassurance, and then crouched to talk to Ian. "I will be starting work today, so I'll be a little late when picking you up, alright? Stay with the teacher until I come."

"Okay, aunty." Ian nodded his head in agreement.

Tyler then waved Ian goodbye and headed off to work. Ian stood there wondering what he was supposed to do next.

"Ready to come inside and great the other children, Ian?" The teacher asked.

Ian then nodded his head and silently followed the teacher into the school.

"Everyone, I would like you to meet Ian. He is our new classmate." The teacher held onto Ian's shoulders, as if she were displaying him to the class. "Shall we all introduce ourselves to him?"

After the whole class introduced themselves, it was time for Ian's introduction. "Ian, would you like to introduce yourself to the class? What do you like to do for fun?"

Ian stood there in front of the class. Everyone was staring at him, anticipating for an answer.

Ian wasn't ready and began to shudder. "Are you alright Ian?" The teacher asked as she looked down at him.

Then a boy from the crowd of kindergarteners walked up to Ian and grabbed his hand. "Hi!" The boy said. "I'm Xander. You are Ian?"

The boy was around the same height as Ian and had black hair in comparison to Ian's caramel, brown hair. He seemed assertive too compared to Ian.

"Do you like Doggimon?" Xander continued with anticipating eyes.

Instead of saying a word, Ian just nodded his head.

Xander's eyes then lit up and a smile formed from ear to ear. "Me too!" He squealed with joy.

"Alright then." The teacher sighed with relief. "I suppose that should be enought with introductions. Let's begin our ABC's of the day."

After a while of school, lunch time finally came around.

"What did your mommy make you, Ian?" Xander asked as he sat down next to Ian.

"My aunty made me a turkey sandwich." Ian answered.

"Your aunty?" Xander was shocked. "What about your mommy? She doesn't make you lunch?"

Ian then looked down at his lunch. "I don't have a mommy anymore. She died."

Xander's face turned from shocked to sad. He then began to cry. "I'm sorry!"

Ian was shocked by how Xander reacted.

"What's going on? What happened?" The teacher ran over towards them.

"Ian doesn't have a mommy!" Xander continued to cry.

"Ah." The teacher sighed.

All the other kids were all looking at Xander and Ian. Ian then patted Xander. "It's okay."

"But...but...I can have my mommy make you lunch, Ian." Xander offered.

"It's okay. I like auntie's lunch." Ian smiled. "Your mommy doesn't need to make me lunch."

Xander wiped away his tears. "Can I try some of your lunch then? Is your aunty a really good cook?"

***

After school finally came and all that were left was Xander, Ian, and another girl.

"My big brother is going to pick me up." Xander told Ian with a smile. "Is your aunty going to pick you up?"

"Yeah, but later." Ian answered.

"My mommy is the teacher, so I have to wait here." The girl told them.

"No one cares about you, Molly." Xander stuck his tongue out at her.

"You are so mean, Xander! I hate you." Molly clung on to Ian. "Be nicer like Ian."

Ian didn't really care about the situation and just stood there. Xander, however, minded and became red with anger.

"Ian is my best friend, stinky-poo Molly!" Xander grabbed Ian's empty right arm and pulled him away from Molly.

"But I want to be his friend!" Molly pulled back.

Ian, in this whole situation was confused by the matter.

"Xander, what are you doing?" A tall boy with black hair walked up to the three.

"Stinky-poo Molly won't let go of Ian!" Xander pointed at Molly.

However, the guy ended up whacking Xander's head. "Don't call girls names like that."

***

"I'm sorry about my younger brother's behavior." The guy apologized.

"No worries." The teacher reassured him.

"Meanie Dylan!!" Xander cried.

"Shut up. You were in the wrong." The guy flicked Xander. "Let's head home now."

"No!" Xander screamed. "Ian's aunty hasn't come yet."

"Ian?" The guy then looked at Ian. "Oh."

"Can't we wait with him until his aunty comes?" Xander pleaded.

The guy then looked at his brother and then back at Ian. "I suppose we can."

"Yay!" Xander cheered with happiness.

***

"Crap! It's already 5:00. I can't believe they made me wait for everyone to go home." Tyler ran into the entrance of the elementary school. "I'm sorry I'm late!"

Ian then looked up at his aunt and smiled. "Aunty!" He then gave her a big hug.

"Hi, Ian's aunty." Xander greeted Tyler.

"Oh, hello. Are you Ian's friend?"

"I'm Xander, and this is my older brother, Dylan." Xander smiled.

Tyler looked up at Dylan and thanked him. "Oh, you stayed with Ian? Thank you very much."

"Oh, it's nothing. Xander wanted to wait for Ian." Dylan looked at his brother.

"I wish I could treat you two to something as a thanks." Tyler offered.

"Well, you could come to our house for dinner." Dylan suggested.

"Isn't that still you treating me?"

"I suppose, but do it as a thank you. My mom loves it when I bring company over, and, plus, I think Xander would be really happy."

"Ian's coming over?!" Xander had sparkles in his eyes.

"Oh, alright then. But next time I'll treat you guys." Tyler agreed.

"Sure." Dylan smiled. "Let's go then."

"Yay!" Xander jumped with excitement.
