Logan:
Heatmor
Leafeon
Lucario
Gallade
It was five minutes before the next round began. I've received note from Virgo that everything about the geography of the land is normal. She even gave a few examples with terrains much worse than this. Since she succeeded on her first task, I thought of giving her another one. I noted details about the sudden glow of Zekrom's orb. I asked her to double check again if this venue was truly something before rather than a plain old Colosseum.
Shauntal was up next for Logan. With four Pokemon remaining, more pressure slowly builds up. Shauntal has purple hair and glasses; her outfit is a purple "dress" with dark purple tights and pink Mary Jane shoes. She wears an additional black collar to her outfit and black gloves. Her books and pens are pink.
I've heard from Dawn that rather bookish, Shauntal loves to write stories. She is fascinated with her ghost-type Pokémon, often using them as the muse of inspiration to write, as well as the trainers that she battles. Shauntal sometimes carries around with her a pen and a blank book so that way she could write the next chapter of her story. She gets her stories based on her Pokémon team.
"Eyes brimming with dark flame, this man rejected everything other than himself in order to bring about one singular justice...' That's part of a novel I'm writing. I was inspired by the challenger who was just here, and somehow I got a little sad... Excuse me. You're the next challenger, right? I'm the Elite Four's Ghost-type Pokémon user, Shauntal, and I shall be your opponent."
Logan was slowly getting his confidence back. The applause once more were split into two sides.
"Cofagrigus, you're up first!"
"Heatmor, I'm counting on you!"
"You have the first move, challenger!"
"Fantastic. Inferno, let's go!"
Cofagrigus was able to make the attack miss. It exerted its dark murky hands afterward to clench unto the throat of Heatmor. Logan's Pokemon uttered tangled and jumbled syllables. The fire enraging in its spirit let the legs go for the foe's bottom.
Cofagrigus laughed and opened up its chamber. It placed Heatmor inside and gobbled it for a second before spitting it out in a very weak, sullen, and feeble state.
Majority of the people were now tuned to Shauntal.
I still believe Logan could win. Lucario and Gallade are my best bet.
"Cofagrigus, Will O Wisp!"
When hope was nowhere to be found, it was by fortune that Shauntal made a grave blunder. The audience were gasping for they knew too.
"Gck? Flash Fire? I've forgotten!" said Shauntal.
"Don't waste this opportunity! Go and use Inferno again!"
The heat, though far away, was already perspiring the foe. It was feeling lazy and indolent to move like me whenever I'm forced to read textbooks in a hot day until I've become the expert of procrastination.
"Fire Punch, go!"
"Cofagrigus is no longer able to battle. Elite Shauntal, please send out your next Pokemon!"
Dawn and I exhaled in relief. That's eight Pokemon left on the list.
"Luna, let's make a wager. I say, Logan will win the league. If I'm correct, you'll treat me out for some bubble tea."
"Huh? That's unfair! I think he could win too."
"C'mon." She expressed a waggling brow.
"Ugh, fine. I'll pretend Logan's losing even if I think he won't. If I'm coincidentally correct, you'll buy me bubble tea."
"Deal, deal!"
Bubble's tea a Poke dollar or two in this region. I could buy her millions if she wants.
Heatmor was against Golurk next. Looks like a statue from one of those so-called Easter Islands. Golurk was a giant. Its fists alone was something to be terrified about and since Heatmor's fire, it's in a disadvantage.
Logan moved a wise move, exchanging Heatmor for it to rest for Leafeon. I've only since little of Leafeon in action so this... This might be exciting.
The second match of the second round finally commenced. Leafeon started with Razor Leaf. A giant like Golurk had no space to dodge. It was forced to cover itself with its arms though still did damage in the end.
A fighting move, Shauntal commanded. Golurk abide by the behest and used Hammer Arm. Missing, it hit the ground. Another earthquake came to be, but Leafeon and its intelligence was not to be deceived quickly. It leaped from stone to stone that flew around, eventually ending up at Golurk's shoulder. There, Logan asked it used Iron Tail on the neck, therefore slaying Goliath for the first time.
Golurk got back in its knees, however, Shauntal substituted right away. She exchanged Golurk for Chandelure, the chandelier look a like Pokemon.
Logan had encountered the Pokemon only once. This time. He was aware of it bearing a fire type but believed it only knew Will o wisp like Cofagrigus.
Shocked by Shauntal's sudden command of flamethrower, Logan flinched and was unable to alert Leafeon of what to do.
"Return!" Logan substituted. "I'm counting on you, Heatmor!"
After a swapping of moves, Shauntal the second match ended in a draw. Both Chandelure and Heatmor were devastated when they countered with Shadow Ball and Rock Smash. This leaves Logan with three Pokemon left.
Dawn was feeling uncomfortable. She deserved that for coming up with a bet. My faith is still high. Just two more of the strongest trainers in the entire region before Alder. It's a three against seven then.
"Leafeon!"
Can't say I wasn't expecting that. Golurk had taken damage already so this might be a breeze.
Another Hammer Arm landed, causing the ground to erupt. Logan stuck to the same tactic with Leafeon. It climbed up the rocks that burst.
"I expected that," said Shauntal. "Golurk, Shadow Claw before Leafeon reaches you!"
"Hehe! Not on my watch. Leafeon, Leaf Blade!" Logan's Pokemon deflected the arm, followed by striking the Golurk on the neck. The giant crashed for the second round, finally defeated.
Shauntal adjusted her glasses, checking if her eyes were truly seeing the same thing.
"Gck! I was defeated. Challenger, if you defeat the entire Elite Four of the Pokémon League, you can go on to challenge the Champion after the victor segment. And you have earned that right. Wait here for the next Elite. Every person who works with Pokémon has a Pokémon story to tell. I've found that stories where people and Pokémon help each other out are far more interesting than stories about only people, or only Pokémon!"
"It's a three against six. The tension's tight." Dawn said.
She looked to me and I waggled my eyebrows.
"It's not over! There's Grimsley and Caitlin. I'm sure Logan can defeat them with only three Pokemon!"
"We'll see about that. Still hoping he'd win though. I wanna witness his battle with Hilbert or Cheren. Sad for Bianca she lost right with Marshal!"
Logan earned more applause and support from us spectators. His confidence was beyond than before. And when that happens, things could turn dark.
