Onto Driftveil City. At first, I thought the city was nearby, but it turns out we've got to pass through Nimbasa City in order to reach it. Nimbasa and Castelia has more than eight kilometers between them. I could barely reach three hundred meters which is not even half a kilometer! The three of us devised a plan.
We sought to reach Driftveil City in about seconds through our Psychic Pokemon. Me and Emma's got Psychic Pokemon, leaving Oliver the odd one out. Mimi will be dealing with Emma and Oliver while I'll be traveling alone with Gardevoir.
Our original plan, which I proposed, was to fly there, but there are those who are loyal to only one Pokemon. Reminds me of someone though.
"Lighthouse, right?" double-checked Emma.
"Yes. Let's not waste anymore time. Gardevoir, open up the portal!"
"Wait. Your promise." About to jump in, Emma halted me for a moment.
"Yeah, I know." said I.
We entered the portals, our aim, to reach Driftveil Lighthouse. Way beyond the red bridge where numerous units of Pokemon International Police officers dwell, according to Emma, no one will be able to spot us, especially when they've got a curfew.
Driftveil's got a history like no other, but of course, other cities beat it. Some say, it is where Team Plasma's main hideout is, and with fear, their government decided to place a curfew until Team Plasma is found, hence the numerous officers.
Driftveil City is a major ocean port city in western Unova. It has strong wind currents popular with sail-boaters. More importantly, its ports are used by freighters and fishing boats that import and export goods such as vegetables in and out of Unova. A large market offering a variety of useful items occupies part of the city. Driftveil is typically subject to precipitation year-round, but remains dry throughout the summer.
It is home to the Cold Storage, which now I believe, is closed for improvements. I've heard in the media they plan to create a competition center for Pokemon battling.
We reached our destination. The lighthouse nearly blinded us by our sudden encounter with it. The lighthouse alone sits on an island with one more bridge connecting it to the city.
Emma and Oliver led the way. It appears they're very well familiar with the place. I was a few meters behind, checking if anyone else was outside. So far, so good, until I heard wings flapping right above me.
I looked at the sky, seeing the once full moon now crescent, blocked with what appears to be a crescent shaped wing.
"A Salamence." I murmured. I lost sight of it. In a single second, the Pokemon disappeared, the moon was full once again. I came to alert Emma that someone was watching us, running as fast as I could towards them when suddenly Salamence's claws pierced my back and dragged me upward.
I screamed for help, "Emma! Oliver!"
They turned their backs but it was too late. I was too far from the ground for any of their Pokemon to reach me. Oliver's Scyther doesn't fly, neither does Mimi. Shooting Salamence would be useless, not to mention Zinnia trains her Pokemon to be extra speedy.
Oliver used sign language, advising Emma to use her Mimi to teleport at Salamence's back.
"That's not how teleportation works! If the coordinates rapidly change, Mimi ends up getting confused. We've got to no choice but to follow its tail."
Oliver shrugged.
Salamence brought me to a faraway warehouse. It appeared to me it's somewhere in the east of the city, at least I'm still at Driftveil. The warehouse was old, donning tons of holes at its roofs. Its walls were rusted, almost giving in to collision.
Once landed, my hands were tied with strings. I could easily remove it because I know how much Zinnia sucks at knotting but the warehouse intrigues me. Plus, Zinnia would lose her job--her head rather. I decided to play by their game in return for a gambit, acting as their prisoner.
She then transferred me to a chair and tied me there. Again, I wanted to see where this is leading. The moon was above, shining down to the chair, myself, and the strings. A classic move of every gang that somehow, I'm not tired of seeing in the movies. Jenny's a fan of movies, so now this explains why I'm like this.
"Let me guess, you're going to walk out from the shadows aren't you, Jenny?"
Footsteps crunched my ears.
"Yep, you are."
Zinnia stayed on my left, making sure I won't escape. Jenny's tactic is unique but done many times. Her goal is to make me seem that we're only three in the room when in fact, littered in the shadows were dozens, all their Pokemon ready to attack in case I escape. One was a spy lurking on one of the beams.
Before Jenny reached me, I was able to analyze the situation. My hands tied, I could easily let Mismagius out. Her Pokeball was in my pocket. With her having the ability to walk through walls and kill silently, I'll be walking out in ease. She can then make her ghostly noise as a diversion to alert Jenny and Zinnia, giving me enough time to slip my hands out and untie my feet.
Jenny finally stepped into the spotlight. She removed her helmet and dropped it on the floor.
"Ah, your face never changed." I teased, little puffs of laughter escaped.
"Neither did you."
Jenny walked closer. She even circled me. Meanwhile, I played with them, having some chatters with my hands having its own mind. With them thinking I'm on their side, with the will to give them any answer they please, they'd be focusing on me rather on my hands.
"You know, I could cut off your head right now, but you should be glad I'm patient."
"Really? The last time I remembered, you were a rambunctious little bitch."
"Call me whatever you want, I need what's on your head."
"Go ahead. What kind of interrogation/confrontation are you going to do to me this time? Oh by the way, is it necessary for you to start your own organization just to kill me? Am I that scary?"
"No, you're not our only target. What does Team Rocket plan to do with these?" asked Jenny.
I flinched for a moment.
"Why, it's been a year since I last saw those serums."
"Don't lie to me Luna. Our spies found your Professor having one of these."
"I'm as shocked as you are, and that's the truth. I never knew Team Rocket used those."
"Team Plasma too," said Zinnia.
"You're after your father again aren't you? Ah, so it's the serums which restored hope. How sure are you that your father was involved."
"His name was written on the serum I acquired on a Team Plasma hideout. It's a prototype, and one of his private office, as stated in the address written is here in Driftveil City."
"You really think he's alive? I don't even care about Morduk, my sister, my mother, and the headmaster."
She clenched her fists.
"I want to know what truly happened. It doesn't matter if he's dead or alive, I need the truth. You found yours years ago in Kanto, and now it's time to solve my own mystery."
"Sigh. I was in a secret mission, well not technically. Are you going to put one of those masks on me?" I asked, freezing my hands momentarily.
"I might if you don't oblige." Jenny untied my feet and hands.
"We're friends again?"
"No, I'm doing this so you can help me."
"You've got an organization who kicks ass, and you want me to do the work with you? I mean, c'mon, you murdered Professor Fennel."
"Fennel? Who the hell is she?"
"Wait, you don't know her?"
"No. I never killed a professor named Fennel too."
"Good God, this changes everything." I said, remembering the letter I found at her apartment.
"Anyway, my men have their own roles too. While they're at it, the three of us will be infiltrating my father's secret office."
"Wait, it's not abandoned?" I let Mismagius go. She sank to the floor in secret and did what she needed to do.
"Unfortunately, it isn't. It's run by a secret organization too known as the Macro Cosmos. A stronger organization than Team Rocket, Team Plasma, and us combined, not if we outsmart them. Our grunts will be serving as a diversion. Then the three of us will find whatever the Mask Marauder needs."
"Thought defending dragons was your thing. Heh, never mind. You see, I've got errands to do. You and Jenny can do this alone."
"What was that?" Zinnia and Jenny looked behind. With that being said, I took the chair and used it to smack Zinnia on the head. Painful, but not enough to kill her. Same with Jenny.
"Great job. Mismagius. Return to your Pokeball."
Mismagius smiled.
My phone rang. It was Virgo who called. "Luna? Where are you? The final coordinates are in. THe grunt's at a laboratory ran by Macro Cosmos. Do you know any organization named that?"
"Wait what?" I looked at Jenny who was rising up from the ground. "Talk to you later bye!"
"Hey, Jenny. I'd appreciate it if the deal was still open."
She glared at me. "You idiot! How can we get inside now that your Pokemon killed all my members!"
"Back up?"
"Do you know how far headquarters is from here?"
"Mind telling me?"
"Oh shut up." she pointed her pistol. "You are going to do what I say, and I say, you'll come with me."
"Better die later than on the spot."
She reloaded her pistol. "No funny business, understood?"
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Wait, I've got to make a phone call."
***
Emma picked up. "Luna? Where are you?"
"Yeah, I know the answer."
"What?"
"The math problem sequence. The next numbers are 34, and 43. Thank me later. Oh and while you're at it, buy Virgo some pizza later."
"What on Earth are you talking about?"
"Their delivery number? Can't really remember, but I think it's 333, don't forget the underscore and period."
"Oh. Um... Alright."
"Thanks, goodbye!"
I declined the call.
***
"What was that about?" asked Jenny.
"None of your business."
"Hey didn't I say--"
"--Fine, if I'm going to die later, might as well buy food for my friends one last time. Jeez."
"Hmm, you lead the way, I'll tell you where to go."
"You know, I wouldn't hold that pistol at the road if I were you."
"Who said I was gonna?"
"About Zinnia? We're gonna leave her here?"
"She'll wake up sooner or later."
