Chereads / POKEMON: BLAST OFF! / Chapter 491 - LOG 51: A Sudden Interruption!

Chapter 491 - LOG 51: A Sudden Interruption!

Trapped in a tunnel we are uncertain of where it would lead us, Virgo slowly became agitated with its dark atmosphere despite our flashlights. She was always afraid of the dark even now.

"A-A-A truce, what do you say?" suggested Virgo, looking back and forth, seeing nothing but darkness.

"Don't you have your flashlight with you?" asked Zeal.

"My Rotom-Phone is lowbatt. I forgot to charge it. Please, just for now. We are friends after all--"

A large explosion hit the land above us. Dust crumbled down, panicking Virgo. "Ah!"

"When you're in war, you'll be hearing that every day. Get used to it," said Zeal.

"W-w-war? Who would propose a war in the twenty-first century?"

"Logically speaking, you'd expect a band of rebellions when Madam Boss takes over the world. Revolution is inevitable." I said.

"And when did you become all history smart, Luna?"

"Conspiracy videos, 3 am." I boasted.

"No wonder I couldn't sleep," sighed Virgo.

"Light sleeper eh?"

More ruckus were happening above. Team Rocket seemed to be retaliating by the sounds of the bullets I hear often and the voices of Pokemon.

"This will be far enough. Righty right, Virgo! Send out your Munna."

"As you wish, Munna come out!"

"Luna, what are you planning to do with Munna?" asked Zeal.

"Just watch and learn." I winked. "Prepare your Medicham. Gardevoir, I'll be needing you!"

"Munna, do your thing!" I commanded.

"Oh, that's not how it works Luna. Munna, you know what to do!"

Munna released an array of her waves.

"Great! Virgo, stay there. We'll return briefly."

"Now I get it. Headquarters right?" said Zeal.

"Yes. You go ahead."

"As you say so. Medicham, Teleport!"

Zeal and her Pokemon entered the portal.

"Luna! Don't leave me here!" begged Virgo.

"You can do it. I trust you."

"B-b-but, what do you want me to do?"

"Stay put. Team Plasma will be attracted to Munna's waves which are quite similar to the Meteonite's waves right?"

"What? That was your plan? Luna we're in the desert resort!"

"Uh, yes?"

"If Munna's waves collides with the Meteonite, then you'll cause ruckus! Worse, you'll make Charlotte deaf! You know what I mean!"

"Oh cr--"

"Munna stop!"

Munna stopped emitting her waves.

"How long does the vibration last?"

"Highest frequencies range about a minute. Two seconds is good enough to make a person deaf, not to mention Charlotte's running with the Meteonite right now!"

On one of Team Plasma's air vessels, somewhat similar to the airships of the Rebirth Society but tinted in black with their logo all over.

"Lord Ghetsis! We've detected two radio waves coming from both the West and the Far West." reported the captain, staring down to the intact GPS on the control panel in front of him.

"Two waves? One of them must've been from a Munna. I'm not wasting my time playing this guessing game. Send two squadrons. One towards the west, the other to the Far West."

"As you wish, Lord Ghetsis!" The captain switched to the mic connected throughout the fleet. "Calling Pilot of Ship Code45B and Ship Code45A, change route to coordinates 15 N, 30 W, and 20 N and 40 W."

"Got it, chief captain." Pilot of Code45B responded back.

"Understood!" said the second one.

"I'm no--"

"C'mon! C'mon!" said Zeal, hastening her pace as she ran towards the Relic Castle with Pierce.

"There's an approaching vessel." alerted Pierce.

"I can see that too. What now? Run the opposite direction?"

"You'll head to the sea if you do so."

A large portal appeared right in front of them. Bit by bit, a helicopter exited it. It then closed afterward as the doors of the vehicle opened. A rope was thrown down but with a metallic and heavy box dangling on it. It had red stripes, giving it a futuristic and sci-fi look.

"Charlotte, put the Meteonite inside the box and exchange take the fake copy," shouted Xeryll from her window.

"Xeryll?"

Zeal and Medicham leaned forward. "Just do it and hurry! You don't want to be disintegrated from that ship don't you?"

"Right." Pierce entered Team Rocket's most famous (within agents) and secretive password. [GOLDEEN NEEDS LOG]

"Of course it's Goldeen needs log." sighed Charlotte.

Nearly succeeding with the exchange, the Meteonite Charlotte was holding flickered in a yellow hue.

Virgo and I exited the portal made by Gardevoir after I forgot to reconsider a bit of Science backlash. Next time, I should probably leave this job to the professors instead.

"Throw it in the portal right now!" I instructed, Gardevoir holding the portal up with pressure.

"What?!" Zeal exclaimed.

"Fine by me if you want to keep it. Tell me how Team Rocket goes with a bunch deaf agents!" Virgo warned.

In panic, Charlotte threw the Meteonite inside. Gardevoir then proceeded with closing it before the sonic burst escapes the portal.

"Damn it! Chief Captain, the Meteonite, it's gone!" reported the pilot.

"Gone? What do you mean gone?"

"It entered some sort of portal! I'm being serious." his windows started darkening. Slowly, the pilot turned his head from the mic to the window, seeing a fleet of Team Rocket vessels heading towards it.

There were more than 15 vessels, each having a squadron of helicopters. Our vessels were large tandem motor vehicles with a flying aircraft carrier as our mother ship. It is also where Madam Boss's throne is where she could watch everything happening outside the large windshield while petting her Persian.

"Chief Captain! We've got problems here."

"Problems?"

"If you think the other vessel and I can take out their fleet, you're wrong."

"Lord Ghetsis, there's been a breach according to the pilots. Team Rocket's fleet has arrived. They're waiting for your command Lord Ghetsis!"

... Nothing...

"Lord Ghetsis! They're approaching them. They could reign fire any second now."

Ghetsis stabbed his scepter on the floor. "Forget it. We're switching to plan B. Tell them to retreat."

"As you wish, Lord Ghetsis." the Chief Captain shifted mic. "Pilot Code45B and Pilot Code45A, retreat immediately."

Team Rocket's fleet drove Plasma's away, probably due to intimidation by numbers.

"Cowards." chuckled Madam Boss in her throne.

"Where did you send the Meteonite?" asked Charlotte.

"To Team Rocket's greatest vaults."

Zeal grinned. "You what that means. Our team won."

"Why, you cheaters!" Charlotte frowned.

"C'mon, we saved your life. It's a win-win for the both of us." I teased.

"Humph, I'm afraid, I've got to agree with you."

"Domino, send the agents back to headquarters. Luna's team won the assessment."

"Right away, Madam Boss."

A few vacant helicopters from the fleet descended to pick us up and transported us back to headquarters. Charlotte and Virgo looked at me and Zeal with envy. Success was only centimeters away and now they regret the decision of throwing the Meteonite inside Gardevoir's portal. With only twenty slots left available for the Master Rank, I believe it is time to up my game.

Only a matter of days remain before the last assessment takes place.
