Sleeping deeply in their apartment was no other than Emma. She was cuddling her Mimi tightly as it is her only pillow. One could say that she dreams of the best, present in the way she smiles and blushes in her dream. It makes one wonder, what could she be dreaming? Or would all of that matter if she is to be awakened?
Three knocks hit her door as she jerked high and up with her Mimi. She looked left and right, stretching her hand as she wet her lips with her tongue. A new day in Veilstone City and just like every other ordinary day, Emma stared out to the window to watch the beautiful scenery of the rising sun.
"Emma!"
"Wait up, Mr. Looker." after taking a minute or two of gazing in her window, Emma went to the door and opened it, only to see Looker sighing at her. She immediately knew why the detective did so but despite this, it gave her a laugh.
"Sorry Mr. Looker, I woke up too late again. Any Team Galactic grunts today?"
"Sigh, nope. I need you to come with me for a while. Close your door, you don't want any thieves getting in."
"Right, Mr. Looker!"
The sleuth led his assistant to his room and scrambled his wardrobe for something while Emma innocently jumps up and down the detective's bed. She is uncertain of what kind of task is about to hit her.
"You did a good job during the Team Galactic siege. I guess it is safe for me to assume you're starting to become a great chief, but not technically leveled with mine yet. You know? I need your help. Two organizations have been identified in the Unova Region. Team Plasma and Team Rocket. Unlike previous organizations, these two are well known throughout."
"Great! So? Does that mean we're going to Unova?"
"No, only you."
Hearing those words accidentally made Emma stumble down the detective's bed. She couldn't believe them as she looked at Detective Looker with awe.
"I'm telling the truth. I want you to investigate things there alone in the Pokemon International Police branch of the Unova Region."
"M-me? Al-alone?!"
"Don't be frightened! I appointed you as the new temporary chief of the region! You'll have what you always wanted, a squadron of your own."
She was speechless... Her body was shivering.
"I guess I should've told you yesterday to avoid that anxiety of yours. Be confident, the officers there don't bite. Here is your new badge and outfit, I am looking forward to hear reports from you." the detective presented a new attire that was of a general's outfit. It comes with a cap and a badge of the Pokemon International Police.
"I'm... I'm lost for words."
"Obviously. But hey? Calm down, everything will be fine. Eat your breakfast and take a shower. I'll be dropping you at the Veilstone airport today." Detective Looker went out his room and gave a big stretch. Meanwhile, aghast was all over her face as she panicked on what to do while clutching her hands on Mimi.
"My dream is coming to a reality Mimi, but then, I'm frightened to be alone. A plane? I've- I'm not used to riding on one by myself."
"Oops sorry, I guess I held you too tightly."
An hour later...
Everything is set and ready to go. She and her luggage are already inside the plane, ready to be sent to Castelia City, a metropolis in the heart of Unova. She waved goodbye from the plane, grinning the detective while he did too in return. Once the plane was above fifteen feet, all she could see were the clouds.
There in the clouds her stomach was aching as if she needed to go have a bathroom business with it. It was loaded with air as her only jacket was her Mimi. Her new outfit and badge looked very uncomfortable and so she plans to stick with her old ragged clothes patched up randomly with squared fabric. For money, she depends it at the detective as she doesn't really have a family except for him.
It was because of Detective Looker did Emma learn how to read and write. Like N, she wasn't quite respected as a human when she was young and like Ghetsis, Looker pitied her. She arrived at exactly eleven in the morning in Castelia City.
Big places is not her type and her only Pokemon for now is an Espurr. While looking for the address given to her, Emma was feeling uncomfortable as everything was strange to her. Skyscrapers, she imagined them falling to her, people, she imagined them kidnapping her.
"E-excuse me? Is this the Pokemon International Police of the Unova Region?" Emma pulled all her confidence to ask a man who had somewhat an attire of a police officers.
"Uh... yeah. Are you, Emma? The one the chief sent?" the officer asked, looking at her with disgust because of her apparel. But hey? Emma's used to it so it's not really needed to fight back against the officer.
"Yup! So? This is the place? How... intimidating." she replied, staring at a single skyscraper she never knew belonged to the Pokemon International Police.
"L-let me lead you inside, to um... get you to your room." said the officer. He was forcing himself to be respectful as possible even if he couldn't bare it anymore. The other officers gossiped as they dared to underestimate a woman like her as she passed through a hall. Though she wasn't expecting such feedback, Emma greeted back with a smile.
"So, did the detective say you're the new chief here?" the fellow officer asked while escorting her to her room.
"Y-yeah. He says I need to feel up a form too."
"Yes you have. Once you're done with your room, you can go to the lobby to fix your forms and other matters. Anyway, room 496! This is it. I believe you can handle things from here?"
"Yup! Thanks officer!" she replied with a delighted smile. In front of her door she stood and slowly opened it. She gave a cough as the dust exited. Her room was massive, this made her even uncomfortable as the bed literally looked like the bed of a king. There was a bathtub, a large screen television as well. She doesn't know how to use all of these as she used to a simple shower or an old fashioned television with the detective.
"I'm going to have a harder time than I thought." she told herself, accidentally dropping Mimi from her grasp.
"S-sorry, there's no need to yell at me!"
