Chapter 337 - EPISODE 7: Sandgem Town!*

Beaches and sand, Sandgem Town offers it all. The town notably has sandy terrain to the south, the beginnings of Sandgem Beach. The beach is in close proximity to the town itself and the people and civilians living here can smell the fresh and salty scent of the sea.

Aside from this, the town is notable for the great Professor Rowan, one of the most popular professors in the world, known throughout continents, countries, and regions. He is genuinely brilliant, giving all his passion for his work and research pertaining to Pokemon.

Throughout his life, he had worked with many aides, developing many projects for the welfare of Pokemon. He appears to have a serious demeanor compared to others and one cannot help but stare at his mustache, very white, very intimidating. Aside from this, he is responsible for giving trainers their starter Pokemon.

The fresh sun has just risen and a new beginning is gifted to two blissful trainers.

Lucas wears a white undershirt with a black vest over it, a red scarf, baggy jeans, with red and grey shoes. Lucas always seems to be an enthusiast, always eager to show hospitality. It was always a dream of his to explore his region like what his father did. He has a friend and her name is Dawn.

Dawn is a short young girl with navy blue hair, fair skin, and dark blue eyes. Dawn wears a V-neck black mini dress with a white blouse underneath, a red scarf, gold hair clips, a pink skirt, a white beanie with a pink Poké Ball design on it, black knee-high socks, a yellow bag, and pink short boots.

Dawn is kind and sweet, and greatly respects Professor Rowan. She is known to have many idols, especially, the strongest champion of all time, Cynthia. She admires her, her passion for battling inspires Dawn despite her goal to become a coordinator like May.

Now, the two had recently made their way to Professor Rowan's laboratory to receive their starter Pokemon. Such the size of the library, similar to the laboratory of the famous professor, Professor Oak. His laboratory can house Pokemon as well of different shapes and sizes.

"Good morning Professor Rowan!" greeted, the two blissful trainers as they dashed inside the laboratory.

"Good day." greeted, the professor while typing something on his laptop.

"So, professor, may we please have our starter Pokemon? I couldn't sleep last night because of excitement." Lucas beamed.

"Yes... Yes... Alright..." Rowan sighed and stood from his chair, bringing his briefcase with him to the trainers.

"Let's get this over with. I still have a lot of research to do. So- um... wait a minute, one... two... where's the other one?"

"Other one? Wait, I thought it was the two of us only?" Dawn thought.

"No," responded Rowan as he went back to his chair, checking the email on his laptop. He continued slowly, "You see, there was this other trainer from Hoenn. He registered for the Sinnoh Conference too."

At that exact moment when Professor Rowan finished his words, Logan came dashing in the doors. He was breathing heavily, sweat all over his body. In front of the professor, he halted, taking a small break while bending down to his knees.

"So you must be the other trainer?"

"Yes Professor Rowan, had some issues with the ferry," Logan explained.

"The ferry? Oh, you must've been dropped off from the Sandgem beach. My name is Lucas by the way, and this right here is Dawn." Lucas hunched and shook hands with Logan.

"Nice to meet you. Well, we also have problems with the ferry that travels to Sandgem Beach. Anyway, the important thing is that you're here and we can all have our starter Pokemon!" with exuberance, Dawn greeted Logan.

"Thanks. I'm Logan, a runner-up from the Hoenn Conference. I guess that means the two of you are my rivals."

"Wait, you've been to a Pokemon League?!" shocked, Lucas was.

"Yes."

"What was it like?"

"It was fun."

"Come on, we all know Contests are better than Leagues." Dawn buzzed in.

"Now, now. Since everyone is here, let me do my duty as a professor so I can return to my studies. Alright, in my briefcase as you can see, are three Pokeball containing one Pokemon each.

First up we have a Turtwig, a grass starter, more on the defense side. Second we have Piplup, a water starter, specializes in attack. And lastly, Chimchar, a fire starter, an explicit Pokemon in speed. Each has their own unique abilities and characteristics. Now, who would want to pick first?"

From the three Pokeball, the Pokemon was sent out. They ran across the three trainers, hopping and skipping, fiddling with each other. Turtwig seemed like a serious Pokemon, Chimchar was a bit goofy, teasing Piplup who is sensitive. All these three are the starters of Sinnoh.

"Hmm, you can go first Logan. I'll be waiting behind." Lucas offered as a plan not that malevolent and not that benevolent either popped up in his mind.

"Hmm, which to pick?" he thought to himself, observing the three Pokemon who were staring at him. Each had their own stare, Chimchar the goofy, Piplup the sensitive, and Turtwig the serious. What Pokemon would match Logan the best?

"I'll need help to figure this out. Gallade, come out!"

Seeing Gallade, the two trainers were in awe. Lucas was already intimidated that he would lose against Logan in the conference. Gallade gave them a deep stare, boasting its appearances in front of the two young trainers.

"So, Gallade, which do you think suits us the most?" surveyed, Logan.

Gallade thought for a moment, and after thinking of one, he chose Turtwig.

"A Turtwig? Well, you're right. Alright, Professor Rowan, I choose Turtwig!"

"Then I'll choose Chimchar, a Pokemon weak against yours." Lucas grinned, chuckling softly as he picked up Chimchar from the briefcase.

"Wait a minute, you let me pick in purpose so you could choose the one weak to mine?"

"Hehe."

"It's fine, I'll catch a water type soon, no biggie."

"I guess that leaves Piplup to me," Dawn uttered, cuddling Piplup in her arms.

"Good, now here are your Sinnoh Pokedex. As trainers, I suppose you know what a Pokedex is especially you Logan, who has participated in a Pokemon League already. Good luck to the three of you, and I hope you and your Pokemon grow stronger together.

Treat them like pets, not monsters."

"Thanks, professor!" gestured the three of them with a beaming smile as they walked out of the professor's laboratory, holding their Pokemon in their grasps...
