Chapter 287 - EPISODE 67: Mission!*

Underneath the springs of Lavaridge Town lies a tunnel that leads directly to the hideout. The tunnel was once used as a pipe system for water to flow but now it is merely an old passageway in which anyone can walkthrough. It is a bit soggy and moist. You can hear the echoes of water dropping, some even dropped to me, Jenny, and Logan's face.

"So I was exploring this long tunnel to see where I would end up at. Suddenly I saw two suspicious Team Magma grunts who were talking about a password. Luckily, I eavesdropped and followed them to their hideout which is somewhere within this tunnel. Although, upon entering, I was greeted by a ton of grunts, and there, I lost." Logan told his backstory, very intriguing.

"I see. So what's the password?" Jenny inquired.

Logan responded with a wink and said, "Leave it to me."

The dark eerie ambiance of the tunnel made me shudder. It is as if I was walking at the belly of a snake. Our voice echoes and the further we walked, the darker the surroundings became as light withered away from my eyes. I could hear my footsteps crunching unto the gravel and mud alongside the bellowing wind from the entrance.

The walls of the tunnel which was once a pipe on its former past are now nothing but corroded chunks of wet sedimentary rocks which was built over time from the roots of the trees above, the water dripping, and the slight mixture of lahar because the town seats directly near the tormenting volcano.

The worry that shrouds me, makes my body shiver but as an elite operative, I had to remove my jacket and reveal my Team Rocket attire to everyone. After a long walk, Logan asked us to halt. We faced a stone piece carved with scratches and filth. It was moist and drizzly with barely any hidden detail.

"I don't see anything. Are you sure this is their hideout?" I tilted my head like a confused dog pondering at the stone piece yet finding nothing at all.

"Now, at first glance, it may seem like a normal rock which had been corroded because of all the scratches. But, if you push it..." Logan said pushing the large stone piece. We were stupefied that the stone moved to the right, revealing a small keyboard with a high-tech holographic screen. Logan, acting all professional, inputted the code.

It revealed a door from behind us. The doors opened up to a hall that looks like ancient Egypt. Rows of large torches hung above the side of the walls and in front is a large stone carved with the letter "M", their logo. Aside from the torches are large stone statues of Leader Maxie. Now he seems more of a pharaoh.

Me and Jenny were in awe as we moved forward. This is very different from Team Aqua. This hallway just proves how serious Team Magma is when it comes to fulfilling their wishes, creating the world they've ever wanted with the power of Groudon.

Three grunts were guarding the halls and we were able to knock them out and steal their attire. For now, I am classified as an agent and grunt of Team Magma. At the end of the hall, Logan pushed two pillars with his might, revealing the true hideout of Team Magma.

Upon entering, we were greeted by twenty confused eyes who stared at us. We stood still for a moment with our inner spirits perspiring. We hoped, they would recognize us as one of theirs. After a moment of staring, they returned to whatever they're doing and the chatters and laughter filled the vicinity. Some grunts greeted us with broad smiles while others seemed aggressive, pondering at our looks.

"Okay, so what's the plan?" Logan whispered.

"Every hideout has a set of supercomputers, this is no different. I'm heading there to fulfill my mission, better escape when you have the chance."

"Are you planning to blow up this entire vicinity?! I thought you were going to get back something or acquire something from them!" Logan was surprised. He complained in a whispering manner.

Meanwhile, while the two of us argued, Jenny stared at one of the grunts. It was obvious that grunt was no other than her sister, Courtney. Her eyes started to glimmer with tears. She wanted to move closer, to hold her hand and pull her back to the true her.

"Luna. I-I know you have a mission and I wanted to ask if you can fail it just this once." Jenny suggested, pulling my shoulders and looking at me to the eye.

"What?!"

"Please, my sister is here."

"Well, she'll die with the rest."

"Luna! I know she seems more of an enemy to you but she's my sister." she pleads.

"You know, you must do the right thing even if someone commands you to do the wrong thing. I side with Jenny, though she is an enemy, she is also her sibling." Logan conversed.

For a moment I thought hard and finally came up with a decision, "I'm not ditching my mission. I'm sorry. Do whatever you want in this hideout before the time reaches one in the afternoon. As for me, I will proceed no matter what, I'd better leave if I were you."

From that moment, I separated with the two of them and head straight to the room wherever their supercomputers are. If I cause a malfunction or lit a CPU on fire, it will definitely cause an explosion but I must also think of a way in which I won't be risking my life too.

Logan made the decision to follow me while Jenny confronted her sister. She was no other than a wolf coated in a sheep's wool, spoiling my plans to save her sister and her whole organization. Isn't her purpose to find more about her family? Her sympathetic heart has lead her further from success.
