By midnight the darkness is almost absolute, only a smattering of luminous stars scatter the heavens. Even the moon has waned to almost nothing and I cannot see even my hand in front of my face.
Above the northern skies of the night is where the fleet of the society can be found. Moving with the cold breeze they are, with the people unaware of their presence. The sky is their motherland and the wind is their ally. They roam wherever they please to, but primarily in the Johto Region. Little is known about this organization for their ship only appears during rare occasions, when witnesses spot them under their visible state.
Although the night may seem calm for the people of the society, wherein inside their bedrooms they sleep and rest while the captains of every ship stay awaken, watching over the black horizons of the night, controlling the airships like pirates of the sky, Emily Stone, one of the two daughters of Lilith stays awake inside their room.
Inside her bedroom, she sits on a wooden bench, wherein a table made out of fine carpentry could be found. The only source of her luminosity is the small lamp on her desk. All she could hear are the turning of gears and her sister's loud snores sleeping on the bed beside her's.
Every night, when her sister Ebony is asleep, she is most likely found on her wooden desk, writing in her diary about the events that take place every day. No one, not even her dearest sister knows about Emily's diary for she keeps it a secret from her family.
Just like every night, she starts to write, with a pen on her left and her notebook on her right. Little does she know she's up for a surprise. From her pocket, comes a Pokemon of delight and compassion. It has the ability to imitate any Pokemon, Sudowoodo is its name!
Sudowoodo is known as Emily's favorite and partner Pokemon since it is the Pokemon given by her father before the gruesome incident that changed the course of Emily and her family. With Emily, Sudowoodo would write with her, expressing its love for its trainer.
As Emily writes with Sudowoodo reading her words, her mother Lilith interrupts, shocking her to near death. Unexpected it was for her mother to randomly enter their room for she should be in the captain's deck, controlling the ship.
"M... Mother?!" Emily looks back, seeing her mother smiling. She quickly closes her journal and places it underneath the table.
"Can't sleep?" Lilith questions.
"I... It's nothing." The daughter responds with a smile outside, but worry in the inside. She dearly hopes her mother didn't take at least a glimpse of what she was doing.
"I know you when you're happy. You seem, troubled. Is there something bothering your mind?" Lilith sits on her bed, and starts to question her daughter furthermore.
"Shouldn't you be controlling the ship mother?" Emily uses a question as an excuse.
"Autopilot, remember? Anyways, what happened this time?"
No longer having the capability to hold her tears, Emily decides to jolt to her mother, hugging her tightly. In return, her mother Lilith wraps her with solaces as tears trickle down the face of her daughter. She then massages her back, comforting Emily earnestly.
"I... I miss him." Emily murmurs to her mother, as her mouth tastes the flavor of her own tears.
"Your father? Is that why you write your diary every night?"
"You knew?" With a shocked expression, Emily tilts her head to Lilith, wiping off her tears.
"Of course. It's quite obvious. Don't worry, your secret's safe with me." Lilith winks and with her hands, she wipes off the tears of her daughter.
"Every time I write in my diary, I feel like... feel like talking to him. I feel like I'm telling stories to him like how he tells a story to me every night. If only it didn't happen... I would be sleeping at my bed in our old house in New Bark Town."
"The land is no longer safe, you know that. Do not worry daughter. Once I am finished, the society serves no purpose, thus I shall disband it. From there, you, me, and your sister will live a tranquil life back in our town. It's only a matter of weeks. It is time to sleep my daughter, and when you wake up, we'll continue." Lilith kisses her daughter's forehead and places her to her bed. Seeing her daughter's eyes closed, she steadily leaves the room, shutting the door gently.
"Professor?" Lilith is left with shock, seeing Professor Violet outside.
"Sorry to disturb you, but I've finally identified the location of the first piece to the puzzle of the Silver Wing."
"Good job professor, continue your work, and make your dead sister (Matori) proud." Lilith appraises.
"Of course, Lilith. However, before I go, I wanted to ask what happened to your husband? I've accidentally eavesdropped your conversation with Emily, and now it has piqued my curiosity."
"My husband? He was a famous and innocent inventor who was murdered by the hands of his friends since they wanted to steal his invention. Knowing that his friends were responsible for the murder, I was left with depression with the urge to seek for vengeance, even my daughters felt the same way.
His death has thought me that evil takes the shape of anything. May it be friends or neighbors, it chooses anyone as its target. As long as evil lurks the region of Johto, I knew my daughters would never be safe. The night after his death, I saw a journal in his room, containing a blueprint of the ships we have today.
Seeing it, I came up with a plan. With the help of his engineers, we were able to make his blueprint a reality. More than a dozen ships were created with the help of a foundation in the Alola Region. That is the day the Rebirth Society was born. I figured, if I were to restart Johto by turning everything into dust except for the worthy ones like the society and my family, only then will evil be erased from my motherland.
With the power of Lugia and Ho-Oh, the whole of Johto shall turn into dust, and I shall recreate Johto with my image. A safer and better Johto wherein a mother would no longer fear the safety of her children. I know it is a grave sacrifice to do such a thing, but I must for my husband and my daughters.
Once everything is complete, I plan to disband the society in order for them to live a tranquil life as well. If only the rest of the world could understand... For now, we live in the skies, for this is the safest place I could possibly think of. Away from the land, wherein evil dwells." Nearly shedding a tear, remembering her husband, Lilith explains her backstory with a soft voice.
The night becomes silent, and the two of them proceeded back to their agendas. Lilith, watching over the skies, while her daughters sleep in harmony. As for the professor who somehow betrayed the council with the reason still being a secret, she returned to her work, and that is to find out more about the legends of Ho-Oh.
However, Violet is not the only one pursuing to stay awake in order for her organization to achieve its goal. Back at the tower, is Professor Olive, nearly falling asleep from time to time with her coffee as her only awakening potion. She earnestly works and researches as the rest of Team Rocket sleep in their rooms. Truly, both professors are hard-working, devoted to their studies.
