Chapter 6 - Zera's Debut!

Zera and the others went to the guild admission building. The guild caretaker, a beautiful long black haired woman wearing something similar to a business suit, walked out from the back room and noticed the particular group.

She spoke to them with a partially disgusted tone, "What could the misfit team possibly want with the guild registration building? Did you lose your home finally? Who's that new kid? Another mislead tramp you promised big to?" She began cackling pompously and the guild people hanging out at the tables nearby laughed along. Zera didn't like it one bit. She slammed her hand on the counter and raised her hand up to reveal atleast 10 elemental coins.

"I want to register. I also want a guild building and housing for this "misfit" team. I also want to request an actual team name."

Cleo simply sighed in astonishment. Alice, Kale, and Leo were talking amidst eachother excitedly.

The woman manning the counter leaned over, now showing concern. She whispered to Zera, "Listen... I don't know what rich family can wave those around like that but... That team is no good. They constantly cause issues. You need to form your own team or something. Plus, your wing there can cause a lot of prejudice from veteran members. Especially dragon hunters. I can't say I've seen anyone like you before."

'Forming my own team. . . That almost sounds fun.. There's a simple solution to this!'

"What if I wanted to form a team and join a team? Meaning, I run my own, and still participate in their team." Zera felt confident with the decision she made.

The clerk thought for a brief moment, replying with uncertainty, "I can't really say for sure, and beyond that I don't even know if you could be considered capable of registry. We haven't identified if you're one of the core races, even if you are rich you still need to be a core race to sign up. The only exception we could make is If the guild master approved of your capabilities and deemed you necessary like that fist using blunder behind you."

"Then I'd like to prove myself to the guild leader. I will do so in any way possible!"

The clerk stared at Zera with slight prejudice but before she could say anything a young man who seemed like a scrawny kid in his late teens came out of the back room. He had short smooth black hair that was neatly combed, and he wore a red t shirt and a similar pair of jeans like Zera had on.

The clerk turned to him and immediately spoke to him, "Guild Master, you know you shouldn't wear such ridiculous clothing. Nobody thinks they're any good. It also makes you look unprofessional."

He noted Zera's semblance in clothing choice and immediately nodded. "I overheard the conversation. You're a non core creature and you want to apply at this guild?"

Zera nodded and he chuckled. Something about the way he was acting reminded Zera of something. "Okay. If you want to enter the guild, you must explain why you picked that specific type of clothing."

Everyone in the guild building went into an uproar due to such a stupid declaration, but the scrawny kid stamped his foot one the ground once and they all quieted down. "If you have complaints, then kill the one applying before they apply. If you do I can't accept them. I'll consider them a subjugation target until you all give up."

The clerk panicked slightly. "Guild Master. Isn't this a little over kill?" He simply shook his head and pointed for her to watch Zera.

As soon as the first person charged Zera, she knelt down and shoved her fist into their gut and sent them flying into a table. The table effectively shattered into splintered bits. A flaming arrow suddenly pierced her wing from within the crowd.

"Ngh!.. That hurt!" Zera felt considerable pain from that arrow. 'System. Is there any sort of action I can take here?!'

--- Answer ---

Give the System temporary combat control.

'Do that then.'

Suddenly her wing spread open and her eyes turned red like the spikes on her wing. The pressure in the room began to decrease as a weird wind-like noise echoed. The longer this persisted the colder the room got. Within 5 seconds the arrow lodged into her wing froze over. Another 10 seconds and the air pressure within the room had dropped to the point any untrained individual couldn't breathe properly.

The guild master chuckled ominously, as if he knew something that nobody else did now. "I see.. So you are one. The tree made a mistake."

He shouted loudly so everyone could hear, "Okay! Battle is over. She is accepted."

The pressure drop suddenly stopped and everyone fighting fell to their knees as the pressure changing back to normal rapidly had made their ears and nose bleed.

The guild master called out to Zera and she noticed he signalled her to come into the back room. Yet again the clerk was at a loss why this person was getting a different treatment.

He sat down in the back room after locking the door. "Come, sit down. I know your secret so let's discuss this a bit."

"Huh? You know.. You mean you know that I'm not actually whoever this is I'm inhabiting?" Zera was shocked at first to learn that someone here knew.

"Yes. After all I myself am a similar individual. I also know who your body's owner is.. Through legends. I'll put it simply. I strongly recommend you to avoid combat. Avoid growth. Do not strive for anything. Learn to live a normal life, because you will slowly lose your sense of self and be taken over. The person you're inhabiting is supposed to be a 'warning' from the third world tree. There should be 7 others like you out there right now whom aren't inhabited by reincarnated people. Their strength grows just like yours, except they don't need the system to absorb cores and grow. A phenomenon meant to be the forthcoming of the end of humanity's reign." He sighed as he rested his forehead against the back of his hand, his elbow propped up against the table between them.

"Frankly, I would prefer to kill you here but I have a strong sense of morality. Just be warned if you do strive for growth, if you do not tread carefully your mind will be consumed and you will become nothing more than a power boost for that thing."

Zera stayed silent for a long moment and then looked him in the eyes to see if he was making up crap. Zera could immediately tell from the terrified look he gave her constantly, like she was a monster that defied nature. "I understand, but I will not stop. I am sorry to say but I want to accomplish everything I couldn't in my last life, even if that includes being the bad guy to be something different. Fight me if you want, but I want a chance at this. I want a chance to be something in this new world, even if it means I become a disease to it."

He scowled before leaning back and resting his head back against the chair lazily. "Fine. 2,000 Red Coins for the home, 5,000 for the two guild bases, and 500 for registry, and 1000 for new team creation for yourself, though I'm sure you get an insane amount of money just like I do."

"I already gave the clerk 10 elemental coins."

"Yea. I figured." He got up as he said that and unlocked the door. "Well you may go now. I advise you to furnish and recruit for your new team. Your friends seem to have already left to work on their new base and home that you donated to them. I don't sense their presence.. Also, very nice trick you did earlier. Using indoor pressure control by removing air. So you have an affinity for anything yet?"

Zera shook her head and replied, "No. I am rank 1.."

He seemed shook for a moment and then it clicked in his mind. "Oh I see. because your body is so different. You have different capabilities I guess. oh- One last thing, my name is Newt. Contact me if you have issues."

"I'm Zera. I'll be counting on you." She then walked out of the building and to her guild base.
