Orion's POV
I stared out the window, watching the day pass by.
I glanced over at the empty bed which had been unoccupied for quite sometime now. The last patient had recovered and had left with his family. We weren't really close since I found him to be quite a snob. He had been born with a silver spoon in his mouth which had lead him to be arrogant and tried to hit a dog.
Well that's what the gossipy nurses said.
I think it true though.
Anyway the dog bit him which lead him to be hospitalized since he had caused a big fuss.
What a wuss.
I shuddered.
I hope the next ward mate won't be like him...
Preferably the patient would be a girl and then we would be friends and have a great old chat.
Who knew that my words would come true...
* * * *
The next day I was woken up by loud chattering.
I peeked out from the curtains surrounding my bed.
Oh my god—
Am I a genie or something?
Ahaha I guess heavens granted my wish!
But before I could rejoice over it I suddenly caught a glimpse of her stunned face that seemed like it would cry at any minute.
That's when I realized something was wrong.
The nurse spoke with her for a bit more and left.
She seemed shocked.
I quickly got out of bed and crept towards her.
"Are you ok?" I asked.
I finally had a better look at her face.
She was wrapped up in bandages but there chestnut colored hair poking through. She had deep brown eyes, kind of like chocolate I thought, that were staring at my like a was some sort of unknown creature.
Wait, WHAT? A CREATURE?
No that's not the point here.
There seemed to be another gigantic bandage covering half of her small face. Overall she was quite pretty, excluding the bandages.
"Are you ok?" I repeated.
"Oh errr... Yh I'm fine thank you for asking."
Oh. She finally replied.
"So.... what's your name? My name is Orion Kyrell!"
I flashed a big grin at her, hoping that she would cheer up a bit. She seemed like she would break at any minute.
"A-a-Adalyn..."
"Adalyn Lennet."
Adalyn finally managed to say after a little bit.
Oh well I'll just overlook the fact that she does seem a bit slow witted.
Or not.
It seems like I've finally got a worthy person as a ward mate and friend!
