The great kingdom of Cambridge, east of England, Caspian Antonio II was considered a child prodigy. First in line to the throne, and eldest of seven successors, he had no time for games and childish pursuits. The patriarchy had always believed that the eldest would have the right to the throne. King Cornelius VI favored his eldest—Caspian was perfect in every way.

Camden Aeneas III, on the other hand, had no regard for the throne. He was interested in literature and the company of his cousins, who shared the same indifference to the throne as he did. He often visited the Duke of Malvolio, his uncle and the King's prime minister; now eighth in line to the throne. Camden liked to read books to the Malvolio sisters, Estella particularly; she was sweet and incredibly charming.

Reina Estella was a childhood friend and the prime minister's eldest daughter. Unlike many women from the Kingdom of Cambridge, none could match her distinct charisma and beauty. A smile plastered everywhere she went, it was impossible not to be drawn to her. He was fond of Estella, and had every intent of marrying her one day.

In 1776, Camden, now nineteen at that time; was given the opportunity to study in Spain with Graciano y Lorenzo, a renowned writer.

A heartbroken Estella, feeling the weight of her companion's departure, promised herself to the prince. They became lovers. She wrote to Camden weekly, and he to her. Soon, however, the young lady had stopped writing to him; and the fire they once had grew colder and colder. He felt completely devastated.

It was 1779 when his beloved finally wrote to him again. She was engaged to another in his absence.

Caspian had asked her to be queen.
