Once the three arrived in the star city, Ling Tian excused himself, saying he wanted to keep walking around the city centre.
The two nodded to his request and left.
Tang Jingtian carried the jade bottle containing the medicinal herbs in his hands as if it were the most important thing in his life. Mu Shen was with him, to accompany his younger sister back.
Ling Tian parted from them. He planned to get to know the entire star city, and then he would go to the Mu siblings' house.
Lord of the City Mansion.
"Lord of the City"
"Brother Chao?"
Zhang Chao entered the studio where the Lord of the City was.
Long Cheng, was surprised to see his friend without being told first. He and Zhang Chao got along very well. In fact, the City Lord, Long Cheng, had very good relations with the patriarchs Zhang Chao, Yun Dong and Tang Wei. The four of them trusted each other. With the other two patriarchs of the great families, he had a very good relationship, but not to the point of being like brothers.
Zhang Chao greeted him equally as he sat on the chair in front of the desk where Long Cheng was working.
"Brother Chao, there's something I need to talk to you about personally, so I came to see you quickly without notice."
Long Cheng was slightly surprised to see the seriousness on Zhang Chao's face, so he nodded seriously, waiting for what he wanted to say.
"The young man we've been looking for is here in Star City!"
"Huh?!" Long Cheng rose and was stunned to hear the news from Zhang Chao.
Long Cheng had been searching for news of Ling Tian, but, he had never obtained any clue about his whereabouts.
Feeling ecstatic, he asked Zhang Chao how he knew Ling Tian was in Star City.
Zhang Chao began to describe what had happened at his family's training, leaving nothing out.
Long Cheng was shocked first and asked if they were all really all right. He knew that each family had its own methods and ways of training the young people in their family, so he was surprised to learn that a demon horde had attacked them.
After several moments, the Lord of the City was reassured to learn that no one had died.
He, too, was stunned when he learned that Ling Tian had exterminated that demonic horde in less than 20 seconds. Even for him, with his rank as a Legend, it would take dozens of minutes to slay all those demonic beasts.
He has truly entered the God rank.
Zhang Chao saw that Long Cheng was calming down, so he decided to share his assumptions.
"Lord of the City, if I'm right, that young man may not want to be disturbed."
Long Cheng frowned when he heard that.
Zhang Chao proceeded to explain the assumptions he had made because of what his daughter had told him.
Long Cheng remained pensive, meditating on the assumptions Zhang Chao had mentioned to him.
The patriarch Zhang Chao did not interrupt Long Cheng's thoughts, so he avoided making any distracting noises.
The City Lord continued to wonder about Ling Tian's behavior, not realizing that he was asking the same questions Zhang Chao was.
Any young man who had his strength would be proud and admired by others, getting what he wanted in his hands.
What young man wouldn't want to have fame and wealth?
Why does he decide to hide his whereabouts?
Does he really not want us to bother him?
Ling Tian's strange behaviour made him question himself and warm his head without being able to find an answer.
Ha!
Long Cheng sighed as he could not find a workable answer to his behavior.
Even these days, he had been visiting every family or area throughout the Star City, in order to find clues to his whereabouts.
He believed that if perhaps Ling Tian was in Star City and for some reason did not warn him, he would be in some family resting.
Obviously, the Lord of the City went there with the intention of observing the state of the Star City families. He asked if they had any discomfort or problems that he could help with.
After several days, he could find no trace of him, so the news of Zhang Chao made him happy and excited.
The Star City is truly safe from the attack of the demon beasts!
Long Cheng believed that Ling Tian would not sit back and watch the city be destroyed by the demon beasts if a catastrophe occurred, so he would go out and defend the city as well.
"Lord of the City, I hope you will not tell the other families about the news of that young man..." Zhang Chao's voice was heard seriously before continuing: "It would be inevitable that, unconsciously, the great families would seek the whereabouts of this young man, so if we were to disturb him, he would probably leave the City. We still don't know if there are other human settlements beyond our Star City, so we must be careful with this."
"I see..." Long Cheng nodded to Zhang Chao's hypothesis. They really did not know if there were any human settlements beyond the borders, the mountains or the plains of the continent. They had to avoid disturbing this eminence.
Speaking for a while longer, the patriarch Zhang Chao went home while Long Cheng sighed and glanced sideways at a window of his study.
He could not help but smile wryly as he looked out.
He knew that his daughter had been eavesdropping on the matter he was talking to Zhang Chao, so the news about that young man must have thrilled her. He had clearly felt a momentary release from his daughter's power of martial arts, so he knew that she was hiding, but he said nothing.
Now, looking around, his daughter's presence had long since disappeared.
Haaah
Long Cheng went back over the documents he had pending. He was the Lord of the City, so he had an obligation to oversee all the security and work of the city as well. Though it was a heavy burden, he gladly did so, all for the sake of his family and the star city.
How will I ever be able to meet that young man again and make it possible for him to stay and protect the star city?
While doing his jobs, he also thought of many ways to attract Ling Tian to be the defender of the Star City.
