Chapter 5 - The Unknown Voice In Her Head.

" Whenever we proceed from the known into the unknown we may hope to understand, but we may have to learn at the same time a new meaning of the word ' Understanding '. "

-- Werner Karl Heisenberg

°°°°°

" I know you can't see me, but feel my presence! I'm like the soft breeze playing with your hair, you smile with your eyes closed enjoying me..."

*****

My identity has always been an unanswered question...

My existence, the source of way too many conflicts...

My birth, the reason for my ancestor's demise, the most glorious realm under heavens ceased to exist, the reason for all the misfortunes that befell on my kin!

All... because of me!

My home was taken over by 'Them'!

Them? I have no idea...

Who are they?

Why did I have to run away?

Ming, where are you?

When are you coming back?

Are you coming back at all?

My hope is fading away...

No one's going to notice me...

No one!

You said she'd be here...

You said everything will be fine. It's been a while, a century seemed not to be more but it is according to this mainland I'm residing at.

I have never known there might be individuals inhabiting this unfamiliar mainland under the heavens who appeared to be very much like us yet not so alike at the same!

Looking at these inhabitants, who are addressed as ' Humans ', I feel no sense of belonging here even though they look like us!

I've been helplessly wandering around seeking the destined one who could save me...

Save us from this eternal damnation!

It's as if I am a vagabond wandering around aimlessly in seek of an oasis that had its existence concealed never to be found!

*****

Urgh!

What was that?

'Save' ???

Who are you?

Why... this?

Airi woke up with a start, tears streaming down her eyes.

(༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ)

I'm cry-ying? That person too was crying!

My heart... why is it in pain?

I-I cannot cry...

I promised myself to never... cry!

'Tears...

Please. Please! Jus-just stoppp! '

'These stupid tears won't stop!'

To think everything seemed so real...

'So real!'

(☉。☉)!

The dream that is... or was it so?

Airi cried and cried till her eyes turned red and puffy and ran out of all that salty water!

ಥ‿ಥ

She looked about her room, blanketed with her massive pile of creations.

Airi felt her room wasn't a mess if anyone deems it so but it was tidy enough for her. Not that she could care less about what others might think anyway!

┐( ˘_˘)┌

Not to forget she cleaned it herself!

Airi has had a rule known to anyone who ever been to the house and that was her room was off-limits to everyone. The instructions were as clear as a day to allow no one to come inside her room or especially the entire floor she frequents.

She surely didn't want a soul to find out about her deepest darkest secrets. Ever!

( . ര ʖ̯ ര . )

Though her father knew about it even when Airi hadn't ever allowed him in since it was his house, she didn't bother shutting him out.

Her father had known about her situation from the beginning itself and unexpectedly never did he take her out to be some weirdo with abnormal behavior!

He would rather occasionally appreciate her, encourage her, suggest positive reinforcements, and cater immediately to her needs every time she reached a dead end.

In this aspect, Airi regarded her father to be the only sane person in comparison with others at the most!

(◡ ω ◡)

Airi would often find her father gazing at her portraits very longingly. He had always appeared to be searching for something among them.

Soon her eyes fell onto her newest piece, the infamous purple-eyed stranger!

The more Airi examined it, the more she felt captivated!

Unbeknown to her, the stranger didn't feel like a stranger anymore!

(´・` )♡

" You are beautiful.... ♡ " smiling Airi got up from her bed and pinned it up on the wall beside the wall clock.

A glance at it told her, it was half-past six.

Breathing out a relieved sigh, she turned to walk towards the bathroom to freshen up.

Realizing, what she had just done, Airi turned back around and looked up at the picture with furrowed brows.

'She smiled!?'

(☉o☉)

'There must be something wrong with this morning or with her?'

'I guess? '

( : ˘ ∧ ˘ : )

Shaking her head, Airi started getting ready for school.

Her father wasn't home just as the note stated.

She glanced around the companionless living room. Those sequestered rooms inside lacking human presence as she made her way to the European -modern styled kitchen, designed with a sophisticated touch, the craftsmanship found only in royal palaces.

The house Airi lived in was big enough to have the entire town's population including even the townspeople from the other neighbouring towns to settle in effortlessly.

With vast stretches of land dominated by an enormous number of trees belonging to different species, hills surrounding the entire domain appearing as giants guarding the fort along with a garden comparable to the famous parks inserted right at the center which was decorated artistically by renowned architects from all over the world. The majestic villa, Airi addressed as her house, stood in all its glory encasing the entire place like that of a lone warrior!

Airi made herself an omelet, poured in a glass of orange juice, and sat down in one of those many neglected dining chairs, eating up the food quickly without tasting it.

She washed up the utensils and stored them away in their assigned cabinet before running upstairs to rinse her mouth and brush her teeth. She walked out popping in a couple of mouth fresheners into her mouth as she made her way to the unused garage.

While locking up the entrance, Airi met up with the old butler Ben who followed her out and helped her open the car door. She nodded at him in greeting with the butler bidding her farewell wishing her with a tender " Good Day, Young Miss! "

The old butler was already in his 70's yet had the appearance of a man of about 50! As goes the saying, "Age is just a number."

Airi appreciated such sayings which were comprehensive to the reality.

He had a doting look on his face, spoke softly to her with a cautious tone as if he didn't want to make his Young Miss unhappy in any manner.

Airi hardly spoke to Grandpa Ben but she was well aware of his loyalty and fidelity for the old one who has been in the family for ages as far as she knew. The butler wasn't an annoying one, gave her enough privacy, was rather a witty one who truly cared about her wellbeing and so everything else was fine by her.

She started up the car and drove it to school.

No more annoying bus drama for today at least!

͡ᵔ ﹏ ͡ᵔ |

Eh!

'Wait, did she mention that someone's been in her car?! '

(⊙Д⊙)ᵎᵎ

'I dunno but yes, something seems amiss!'

(⑉⊙ȏ⊙)

'Argh! This is creeping me out!!!'
