Stephanie, A goofy 14 year old girl with a heart of gold crept downstairs and started on breakfast for everyone while thinking of ways in which she could make Jake want to be friends with her. She grabbed the recipe books and decided on waffles, they were mom and Jake's favorite. She started was making the batter when her mom came into the kitchen suprised to see her awake and hour early. The sun had barley started to peek over the horizon. And there she was making waffles and holding a mug of coffee for her. Her mom left the room in shock. Stephanie had never been quite a morning person. She though maybe she just wanted a change and called out a thank you for the coffee. Stephanie was piling up waffles in the oven to keep them warm and she was slicing strawberries and banana when Jake came shuffling into the kitchen to get a cup of water. She handed him a glass wordlessly and sent him out until she was finished. She stood in silence cutting fruit as she heard the shower start. Ten minutes later everybody was gathered into the kitchen eating waffles and drinking either coffee or juice. She struck up a conversation about the pep rally that day and asked if Mom and Danny would be coming. They said no and that they would be coming to the game afterwards. Stephanie finished her food wordlessly and ran upstairs to get ready for school. Before she knew it she was out the door with Jake and boarding the bus. They went their seperate ways without so much as a good morning or a hello. She sat alone that day still thinking of how she could make him like her maybe as friends or maybe more. She took her mind off it and decided to watch Netflix on her phone. The day dreaded on until the pep rally stephanie didn't hit the ground with a disturbing crunch she landed normally and continued the routine. Tumbling up and down the gym for the whole school to hype up to. The band played their hearts out. The drill team had a pretty cool dance to hype everyone up. Before we all knew it the pep rally was over and it was time to either head home or head to whereever you were to be for the game whether it was the field house or the cheer lockerooms or the concession stands, people were scrambling all over the place to get to where they needed to be at that moment. The game went on as expected we won 56-23, with jake the quarter back making the team's job easier with every move he made. After the game we went out for ice cream and he still hadn't said a word to me. We went to sleep that night still wordless even at dinner when they asked us all sorts of questions we never actually said anything to eachother. Later than night steph crept into his room again to watch him sleep. it semmed creepy but she found him to be most alluring when he slept. He didn't look so tense he didn't look like his mom had died again. He looked peaceful. His mom had died 3 years before in a shooting and ever since then he hasn't been the same cheerful neighbor i grew up with. It's partly my fault she's dead but at the same time i didn't know she was going to take a bullet for me. I guess he still blamed me for it. However i was still determined to make him like me in some way if not make it to where he treats me like a sibling and not like a total stranger.
