Sneaking back to the bitter scene, three inconspicuous students hid behind the wall.
Two of them were standing steady and calm, but the other one...
She felt like she was about to have a heart attack!
Chen Jingyun's heart was beating faster than cars at a race competition. Her forehead had visible sweat drops, and her throat was dry.
She used to be so badass why would she be so nervous now?
Taking deep breaths to calm herself down, Chen Jingyun took out her phone and started to record the scene.
While she was sorry that they couldn't save the kid with glasses at the moment, she was able to rest assured that after this video was delivered to a trusty authority, things could be fixed.
Watching her in the action, Long Tang couldn't resist taking a peek.
At that moment, the boy with glasses was pulled up by his hair.
Grimacing at the scene, Long Tang lightly commented. "Ooh, the Bao kid is really having it bad. Can't we just go for it?"
Turning to glace at him, Chen Jingyun pursed her lips.
"Just wait until we get the evidence."
"How long does it have to be?"
"Just stay put." Long Rao dragged Long Tang back to his place.
"But Bao kid looks really messed up..."
"Just wait."
Long Tang sighs but ends up ceding.
"Alright."
As the three of them lied in wait, sounds of groan, hits, and a faint scent of iron filled the air.
Every second that passed by, every hit that landed, it felt like weigh added on their shoulders.
It was only a minute of evidence, but it felt like an eternity.
When Chen Jingyun stopped recording, the three of them stared at each other. Determination and an incredible amount of steadiness and calmness were shown on their faces.
"Remember, the objective is to rescue the kid, do not engage in a fight. If it is necessary, go with Plan B."
Nodding at them, Chen Jingyun retreated from the primary scene and concealed herself.
From afar, she watched the other two in action.
With his chin up, and his eyes narrowed, Long Tang wore a menacing stare as he walked in looking like a thug. He seemed nothing like a righteous citizen or a hero.
It was clear on his face he was itching to land his fist on one of their noses.
Just one and nothing more.
By his side, there was Long Rao looking tall and serene. But within his eyes there seemed to be an unlocked potential. He wasn't an easy opponent either.
He looked calculative and attentive.
Noticing their overbearing presence, the group of students got annoyed quickly.
What are these guys going back for?
"Oy, classmate, are you looking for trouble?" One of them threatened with an eerie smile.
"Oy, classmate, you mind leaving him alone?" Long Tang shot back with the same smile.
"Oh?" The leader raised his eyebrows in amusement. "Do you have the power to?"
Long Tang and Long Rao shrugged in unison as they took out their phones and waved it teasingly.
"Classmate Zhang, are you aware of the consequences?"
"You tell me what I should do with the evidence on my phone." Long Tang sighed faking helplessness. He shortly played the video, simultaneously making their hearts drop.
Evidence?
Long Tang then playfully pressed a finger to his lips. "Hmm, should I post it all over the school forums?"
"I think we should sell it to the media." Long Rao followed in a chirpy tone.
"Oh, what should the headlines be then?"
"Food chain Neon's future chairman beats up middle-class boy?"
"Nah, there's no flair to it, how about 'Chairman Zhang Jiawei's son is a thug'?"
"Hmm, sounds good to me."
"Isn't it kind of ironic? Didn't they launch an anti-bullying campaign? Tsk tsk. I wonder how Chairman Zhang will react...?
Chuckling at the play, the leader, Zhang Wuxian, shook his head as he maintained his smile.
But he was affected by what heard, his hands the proof of his emotions.
Loosening his tie, the Zhang Wuxian signaled his peer to follow him, leaving behind the boy with glasses lying on the ground watching the scene unfold.
"What do you want in exchange?"
"Oh? Don't want daddy to find out?" Long Tang wickedly taunted. He wasn't scared of any consequences.
Sensing the guy was going to lose it, Long Rao quickly covered.
"You leave Hong Bao alone, and we won't send it to anyone. Good enough offer don't you think so?"
Zhang Wuxian scoffed. "Do you think I'm stupid?"
"Yeah~" Long Tang naturally answered.
He immediately earned glares sent his way.
Even from Long Rao.
'Why are you adding fuel to the fire bro?!'
"Oh, oops, carry on. Don't mind me." Long Tang apologized not sounding genuine at all.
Everyone chose to ignore him.
"You delete it and we will give that trash back to you. Good enough offer don't you think so?"
"You leave him alone forever and we delete it." Long Rao didn't back down.
Zhang Wuxian laughed. "Ah, so you are a hero. Do you have some sense of grandeur"
"No, I'm just a decent human being."
Zhang Wuxian looked down at his feet as he seemingly pondered.
A decent human being?
Zhang Wuxian lightly scoffed, the laughter in his eyes was impossible to mask.
He then turned to look back at the kid he had tormented for years now, locking eyes with him.
He taunted the boy with a smile and looking at him heartlessly. He basked in his stage joy of seeing the hatred and fear in that boy's eyes.
Once the evidence was gone, what use would this treaty be?
Taking his sweet time, Zhang Wuxian mumbled to Hong Bao.
"I will still beat you up another time."
He then turned around with a smile.
"You say... only if we leave him alone forever, will you delete the video?"
Long Rao nodded calmly. "Yes."
"You've got a deal."
