Chen Jingyun looked at her drink and at Li Minghao's drink. Her brain gears slowly turning as she put two and two together.
"Wait..."
She watched how Li Minghao took his drink and took an elegant sip. She watched how his eyebrows shot up and shook his head as if he had drunk a strong shot of alcohol.
This was just too... sweet for him.
"I think you got the drinks mixed up." Li Minghao place the drink down and crossed his arms. He raised an eyebrow at her. He looked like a handsome king who got served a cold dish. How was he going to deal with her?
"I only took a sip, it should be fine." Chen Jingyun slid the simple drink towards him and gave him an apologetic smile as he didn't look very happy.
As she did that, she didn't notice how the table fell into silence.
They knew Li Minghao never touched anything that was already drunk or eaten before.
"Just take both." Li Minghao gave both of the drinks back to Chen Jingyun and stood up in a cool collected manner. "Ask them to pack it to go. We will leave first."
"Oh? Okay!" Chen Jingyun didn't mind and happily took the two drinks and did as she was told.
At the counter, Lu Xin, who was waiting for her order, looked at her with questions, but Chen Jingyun just shook her head and told her they would talk later.
The shop quickly packed her drinks to go and sent Chen Jingyun with a warm farewell.
Out of the shop and into the road, two guys walked side by side. One guy was tall and handsome, the other was short and cute. The shorty was happily walking, almost as if he was skipping. He looked like a kid who got his candy. While the tall guy walked calmly and handsomely. His long legs stretched elegantly and seemed to keep up with the quick pace of the little guy.
When Chen Jingyun looked at Li Minghao, all she saw was the way the sun shone on him and the wind that moved his hair.
Beautiful.
"Next time I won't make such a low-level mistake, I promise Brother Li." She understood Li Minghao's decision and behavior. "But if it serves of any help... I was just like you."
Li Minghao raised his eyebrows but still looked ahead. "What do you mean?"
Chen Jingyun chuckled and also looked ahead. She was recalling how she used to be. Greedy and picky.
"I didn't like sharing anything food or drink and would immediately give it away. But when you don't have a choice, you will still drink it or eat it. It doesn't matter whether it has been eaten or drunk before." Chen Jingyun felt wise, but her bubble of greatness was popped with just one word.
"So?"
She cleared her throat. "Nothing."
The mood was awkward now.
But Chen Jingyun refused to stay in that kind of situation. Instead, she came up with an idea.
"Ya, the first one to reach the school without stepping on the lines wins!"
Li Minghao paused and looked at her almost in a mocking way."Who would play such a childish thing?"
Me? Chen Jingyun swallowed her words.
"Just do it! We can put a prize or something."
"Oh?" Li Minghao was interested. "Now you're talking. What's the prize?"
Chen Jingyun thought hard but she didn't come up with anything. Right now she didn't have much to offer.
"How about...Loser grants the winner a wish?"
"... So cheap. But fine, let's do this." Li Minghao unexpectedly agreed.
Chen Jingyun smiled. "Okay, on the count of three. One-"
"Three!" Li Minghao took off. His wool jacket flowing with the wind.
"Ya! That's cheating!" Chen Jingyun still went after him.
Anyone who saw them would wonder what these guys were up to, dashing and walking abnormally.
In the end, Li Minghao won. Did he step on the lines? Nobody but him would know.
After a few minutes, Chen Jingyun caught up to him out of breath.
"Hey, you- you cheated!"
"How? The only rule was to not step on the lines!"
With that, Chen Jingyun leaned on the wall. She couldn't fight against this logic.
Li Minghao laughed at the little guy's misfortune. He was having fun.
"And you're stepping on a line."
"Whatever!"
