Mo Kio wrapped one arm around Weiwei's shoulders as tears began to streak out of her eyes, wondering if he was making her uncomfortable. He sighed in relief when she leaned into his embrace. "I think the answer will soon present itself." he said.
"God I hope you're right." Shi Weiwei sighed before changing the topic, "Did you know that Shaoyan and Xuan actually once convinced Jingyu to put on eye-liner?"
Meanwhile. . . . .
Ying Xuan ran after Wei Jingyu, but he did not seem to want to talk. Jingyu increased his pace as soon as he heard Xuan's heels coming after him, and did not once turn to look back. As a result, the two were quite far from the others by the time she caught upto him.
Xuan caught hold of Jingyu's wrist and pulled. The latter had no choice to turn around, which he did and snapped, "WHAT!?!?!?!?" Xuan let go of his wrist as her heart skipped a beat in fear. Though she quickly composed herself, she was not quick enough as Wei Jingyu caught a glimpse of her terrified face and immediately felt guilty.
"Damn! And I promised myself to keep a check on my temper." he said as he looked away from Xuan's face. Ying Xuan took a step closer and held his chin. She made him look at her and signed, 'No. You have every right to be angry with me.'
"But I shouldn't let it take over my sense." Wei Jingyu said, "I'm sorry."
'No, I'm the one who's sorry. I shouldn't have tried to force you guys to do the play without me.' Xuan signed, hanging her head.
"It's not about it not being you." Jingyu began, massaging his head. 'It's about it being Xi.' Xuan completed his sentence.
"Plus, I hate the fact that she used her connections to get the role from you." Wei Jingyu said, grinding his teeth. 'It's not really surprising. She always had to sell dad one story or another to get what she wanted. Usually, it would be me being the villain and her the victim, and I've no doubt this was the case this time too.'
'But do you know what hurts the most? That dad has never even bothered to know my side of the story. The Ying Xuan he knows is nothing but the picture Xi has painted for him since we were little.' Xuan's eyes began to fill up with tears as she dropped her hands.
Jingyu hugged her and soothingly stroked her back. "This really hurts you, didn't it?"
'Of course it does. Did you honestly think that I was happy that I don't have to act anymore?' Xuan signed, trying to lighten up the mood. But Jingyu's voice had gone more grave as he spoke, "That was exactly what I was angry about."
'You honestly thought that I was happy about this replacement?!?!?!?' Xuan signed, raising her eyebrows and pursuing her lips. She pulled back to stare at Jingyu who spoke, massaging his head, "I'm sorry. I thought that with your stage fright, maybe. . . . . . "
'I do have stage fright, and I always feel like throwing up at every practice.' Xuan signed, 'But I would never be happy at Xi, or anyone for that matter, trying to steal what I've worked so hard for by underhanded methods.'
