Chapter 145 - So same, yet so different.

Wei Jingyu was looking out of the window massaging his head when Ying Xi spoke,

"You should get some rest too. Xuan will be just fine."

Jingyu did not reply. After a few seconds, just as Xi was beginning to wonder whether Wei Jingyu was already asleep, he spoke, still looking out of the window, "I can't trust you with her."

Ying Xi was thunderstruck by Jingyu's words. What did he mean? He couldn't trust her with Xuan? She pursued her lips and spoke, "Fine. Do whatever you want. I don't care much about Xuan anyway. And if you're really planning to fall asleep on the chair, here!"

Saying this Ying Xi threw a blanket from Xuan's wardrobe towards Wei Jingyu and went in the bathroom with her towel.

Jingyu gave no reaction and sat massaging his head, staring out of the window.

By the time Ying Xi walked out of the shower, tying her hair in a plaid and wearing her own PJs, Wei Jingyu was not on the chair, only the blanket she had thrown at him, neatly folded.

Xi noticed the door of their room slightly ajar and looked into the corridor, and sure enough, there stood Wei Jingyu, smoking a cigarette.

He put out the cigarette as he heard Ying Xi approach and said, looking straight into her eyes, "If I find anything amiss Xuan tomorrow morning. And believe me, I will find it if you do something, I will make sure you regret it the rest of your life."

Xi made no reply, she only stared into Jingyu's light brown eyes. After a few minutes, Xi looked away and said in a small voice, "Happy Birthday Jingyu."

"My birthday is already over. It's way past midnight." Wei Jingyu threw the words over his shoulder and began walking towards the stairs.

Ying Xi stood for a few minutes watching the spot where Jingyu had gone out of her range of vision before she sighed and walked back into her room. She walked over to Xuan's bed and stood there, watching the sleeping figure for quite some time.

Ying Xi had a terrible urge to scratch Xuan's face, pull out her hair, or do anything to hurt her. And Wei Jingyu's warning did not mean s*it to her. But the anger soon disapated, looking at Xuan's face, and gave way to despair.

Xi dragged her body to her own bed and plopped down on it face first, wondering how could two people look so same and yet be so different.

"How can our lives be the same and yet so different?" Ying Xi muttered to herself as a single tear escaped her eyes and disappeared on her pillow.

The next day, Ying Xuan woke up with a terrible headache. She sat up in bed and held her head. She looked down at herself and was surprised to see she was wearing PJs. Who had changed her? It couldn't have been Weiwei, she was too drunk. Maybe it had been Zuan.

But Ying Xuan groaned and stopped thinking because it made her head hurt even more. She really had a terrible hangover.
