As Ermin was walking through the jungle on his way home, to a spectator he might look like he's just casually going for a stroll in the park. Far from it, Ermin kept his senses sharp. He always avoided stepping on places that would make too much noise, his footsteps barely audible. His ears were perked up and his eyes kept darting left and right, checking for any movement in the distance or signs of a Mobesa having passed through, like footprints and such.
All kinds of Mobesa existed in this world so you could never be too careful, otherwise next thing you know your in the sky getting ripped to shreds by a giant bird or buried up to your neck with a worm swallowing you feet first.
Suddenly, Ermin felt a slight tremble underneath his bare feet and immediately halted all movement, his breathing becoming slow and steady. He slightly tilted his head down looking at the ground. An eerie silence came to the area. Slight trembling continued on under his feet.
"Did I make a sound? Please go away." Ermin thought to himself.
Ermin usually liked to talk to himself but this was not the time for that. He still wasn't allowed to use his ability till he returned home so he wasn't prepared for this fight at the moment. He could take on one opponent with a little luck and strategy, but multiple? That wasn't something he was confident in accomplishing, not yet at least.
Sweat started forming on his forehead as the seconds turned to minutes.
SNAP!
Ermin was so focused on the ground he didn't even notice the Mobesa approach him from behind till it stepped on a branch. The beast launched at him from behind with a roar but Ermin was still as a statue.
It wasn't even a full second after the branch snapped that the ground shook and right below the roaring Mobesa appeared multiple tiger sized, furless moles. The moles slashed and stabbed at the lone Mobesa with their 2 foot long claws. The Mobesa was torn up into chunks of meat and dragged underground in under a minute.
Blood had splattered on Ermin's back but he still hadn't made a move. Only when the slight trembling below his feet stopped did he turn around to look at the remains of the absolute massacre.
There was blood everywhere, pieces of fur and flesh mixed within. He didn't even get to see the poor soul that thought it was having Ermin for dinner only for it to become Ermin's scapegoat.
"Phew... those were Echo Moles. They have a terrible sense of smell and are as blind as a man staring into the sun in the middle of summer without blinking for an hour, who then squeezed a lemon on top of his eyes and then gouged them out."
The Echo Moles, although they had terrible sense of smell and were completely blind, had one of the strongest hearing abilities out there. They used echolocation to traverse underground and to find prey. Somewhat weak on their own, they made up for it in numbers. If you saw a lone mole aboveground, be careful because there just might be a dozen more beneath it. That's one of the methods they use to hunt, basically using themselves as bait.
Darkness would soon fall on the forest and Ermin didn't want to be caught out here without his abilities, he was nearly home so he didn't try to find a resting spot. Quickening his pace, Ermin resumed his return home. Soon after, the sun fell under the horizon and the night had come. He started relying less on his vision and more on his other senses.
Some trees and flowers gradually started glowing different colors. Those were the plants you wanted to stay away from. They were alive and acted more like an animal than a plant. Some even had the ability to move around.
FLAP!
Ermin snapped his head back only to be greeted by a giant owl, twice his size. It had a long neck, a lion like mane with feathers as dark as night, and instead of two it had three legs. The Ezlyrib.
Without wasting a second, Ermin immediately jumped up and grabbed a tree branch as thick as his arm and with both hands, he bended it until it snapped. He threw the branch on the Ezlyrib and jumped down from the tree. Without looking back he started running towards his home.
The Ezlyrib crashed into the branch, only halting its flight for a couple seconds to regain vision on its target. It immediately flying towards Ermin when it saw him running away. The chase was on. Ermin started running in between trees to escape the Ezlyrib. For its size it was quite nimble in the dense jungle. It was almost moving like a human, landing on a tree and then flapping its wings to move to the next, zig zagging around. Ermin couldn't shake the beast off but the Ezlyrib wasn't gaining on him either.
Noticing that it wasn't getting closer, the Ezlyrib landed on a branch and flapped its wings towards Ermin. Its feathers detached and flew towards Ermin like bullets. Caught off guard, Ermin didn't have anything to hide behind so he used his makeshift dagger to deflect the feathers that were aiming for his vitals. He gained a couple of scratches here and there but it didn't hinder him in any way.
The Ezlyrib pulled its wings back to unleash another volley of feathers but Ermin wasn't having any of it and hid behind a nearby tree. Having no clear target, the Ezlyrib resumed its chase. When it appeared on the spot that Ermin had hid behind, its prey was gone. A stick fell on its head and the beast looked up. Ermin was jumping from branch to branch away from the beast. The Ezlyrib caught sight of Ermin a distance away and started running to build momentum for its liftoff only for it to fall beak first.
The Ezlyrib tilted its long neck down to find vines wrapped around its talons. The vines led to a glowing blue bud the size of Ermin. The Ezlyrib started flapping its wings in desperation to get away. More and more vines wrapped around the Ezlyrib, tightening around him. The vines started dragging the poor beast towards the bud, eventually hanging the owl above the bud.
The bud began to blossom. Its 5 petals slowly opening up to reveal a deep, black hole with acid inside. The vines started to lower the Ezlyrib down into the hole. Eventually dropping the the owl in the acid with a splash. The flower snapped its petals shut, returning to its innocent form in wait for its next victim.
On Ermin's side, he had already made it out of the jungle and was now in a forest clearing. He was currently staring at a small hill in front of him. This was his home.
"Teacher! Its me! Let me in!"
"Shut yer trap! Ye trynna bring all the darn beasts in the world here brat?!" A gruff voice came from the hill.
"Feels good to be back."
