"A little more push, just a little more. You can do it, Madam." A midwife was helping a pregnant woman give birth while encouraging her.
"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" After one final push, a baby was taken out from the sweat-filled pregnant woman.
After cleaning the baby, the people in the room who were the midwife, the woman giving birth and a strong-looking man who was staring at the baby with warm eyes, were startled to see no reaction from the baby as usual babies would cry after being born.
The pregnant woman and the warm-eyed man didn't care, though, which showed when the exhausted, sweat-filled woman asked the midwife: "Give me my baby fast."
Seeing that the exhausted woman seemed out of breath and as if she didn't have time, the warm-eyed man didn't dare interfere and kept away from them, but the eager look in his eyes showed that he also wanted to hold the baby.
"My baby." The exhausted woman kept mumbling before looking at the other man in the room, understanding what she wanted; he nodded his head, making her break out in a beautiful smile that dazed the man.
"My baby, from now on, your name is Mo. Xue Mo." After giving the baby its name, it was as if the woman had exhausted all her energy as she closed her eyes right after. While all of this was happening, the baby didn't let out any sound, but when he heard the name Xue Mo, the baby started smiling, but his smile that should be cute instead radiated evil that even he didn't know about.
After seeing the woman close her eyes, the man went near the bed and checked her pulse, feeling no breath from the woman. The man closed his eyes in silence before a determined expression appeared on his face.
"Although we married because our families at the time wanted a connection, over the years, I started to develop feelings for you, but even so, I am sorry I will have to betray you. However, even though I might do that, I can promise you one thing, my heir shall be Xue Mo, our son, and no one else, everything shall be his." After making this promise to his now-dead wife, the man took his son and left the room.

Maids were running around while servants were cleaning. While all of these things were happening, there was an empty room that only one person occupied. This room belonged to none other than the first young master of the Xue Family, Xu Mo.
Though he was the young master and the only heir of the Patriarch, the young master of the Xue Family had a miserable life, as his father didn't visit him much, while behind the scenes, his stepmother bullied him and tortured him mentally. At the same time, no one knew about this, Xue Mo, although was a kid, was smart and had realized that with his position this shouldn't happen, but he also knew that without evidence his cold father wouldn't believe him so Xue Mo bid his time trying to find some evidence that he can show to his father.
Without knowing it, Xu Mo kept looking for evidence while even after another five years had passed, he couldn't find anything conclusive he could use. Still, Xue Mo wasn't disheartened as amid this pain and suffering; he found solace in the fact that he was maturing faster, and coupled with his smart mind, Xu Mo started getting used to fooling the stepmother into thinking her methods are still working on him.
Over the years nothing had changed, but people inside and outside the Xue estate started noticing something. The Patriarch of the Xue family had been getting less active and was staying more and more in his study alone.
One day, Xue Mo got a summoning. Since it was his father who summoned, although Xue Mo got used to his father being cold-hearted and knew that he was distancing himself from him, so he didn't get excited over him being summoned.
Entering the study, Xue Mo noticed a middle-aged man that had a stern expression with whites starting to appear on his hair, although he looked vigorous, Xue Mo, who got used to acting over the years, saw that his face was actually pale.
It was his first time seeing his father in a long time, so Xue Mo took a good look at his so-called father who had been avoiding him for a few years, and what he saw in his eyes almost made Xu emo break his act of being timid and submissive. What Xu emo saw behind the façade and the cold look that he was staring at him with ever since he entered the room, was eye filled with warmth and love. However, Xue Mo had noticed this. He didn't break his act and approached his father with a timid and weak look while not looking at him directly as if afraid.
The young Xue Mo stared at the ground and asked in a soft but loud enough voice for his father to hear: "Do you need anything from me, f-father?" From the way Xue Mo said the word father, the Patriarch felt his heart hurt, as his son felt weird calling him father or even looking at him.
Checking that no one is around, the Patriarch dropped his façade and started running in Xue Mo's direction. He only stopped when he got near him. But what he saw was a scared Xue Mo who had his eyes closed as if he was about to be hot. This made the Patriarch smile bitterly as the Patriarch started to regret his decision that he thought would be the best to save his son.
'Was it really the best thing to do? I am the Patriarch. I should at least have been able to protect my son. No?' The Patriarch started questioning himself before remembering the past and dispeling such thoughts.
Unknown to everyone in the family, the Patriarch wasn't cold to his son because he wants to but because he has to. After the Matriarch died, the Patriarch waited a year before marrying his mistress, his childhood friend. But what people didn't know is that under the scene, the Patriarch was being monitored by someone, although the Patriarch didn't know who he was able to decrease his search, and the most prominent suspects were the elders. He didn't know which one, but the Patriarch was sure it was an elder of the family. As every time the Patriarch went to see his son when Xue Mo was a kid, the Patriarch was being tracked by someone skillful. And this wasn't the end as the Patriarch was able to get rid of his tracker every time, even when the Patriarch couldn't find out who sent them the Patriarch didn't care, only when someone had attempted to kill his son did he start taking things seriously.
The Patriarch distanced himself from his son and became cold to him, just so people will think he doesn't care about him anymore; at least that way, his son would be safe.
After calming down, the Patriarch held his scared son and pulled him into a hug. This gesture froze Xu emo and made his mind go into overdrive, trying to come up with a reason for it.
Living in a giant clan where his father is the Patriarch, Xue Mo always had to protect himself and keep his guard up. For he doesn't know when the next time to be attacked will be. Over time, this became Xue Mo's personality, a calculative, cunning, and smart child, only through these traits was Xue Mo able to survive in this household.
Seeing his father's weird action Xue Mo who had a low degree of EQ didn't know what it meant since he doesn't know what love is, Xue Mo just thought it was weird, but at the same time, it made him comfortable, that he even let his guard down.
Knowing nothing about emotions, the only thing Xu Mo knew was to imitate emotions. Since he rarely expresses them, Xue Mo was totally clueless about his father's love for him. Still, too bad this was an illusion, so she couldn't.
