Xue Mo and Lu Yao have always been hardworking people. However, ever since they met one another, and saw this similar quirk in each other, they have been working on it and trying to lessen this flaw.
Even though hard work is a necessity for people who want to reach far, rest is also essential. If someone just kept on overworking themselves repeatedly, this over the years will cause a deterioration of health, and other issues such as getting hidden injuries in their bodies from exhausting it too much.
Though cultivators in higher realms can do without rest and even reach the point of inedia, where they don't eat food, as True Qi (Arch) energy will supplement their bodies with the needed nutrients to keep it going.
Those in lower realms would still need to eat and sleep like mortals, for they are still considered mortals to those cultivators who transcended their mortal shells and stepped into the world where they would become an entity, mortals can only look up to but rarely achieve.

Providing low-intermediate level runes as a required class to have, is the way the Academies and organizations in higher worlds had found. This method also gave rise to the ways of learning runes, being a mandatory and famous public knowledge, that can benefit the organizations through discovering superior future runemasters.
The reason Lu Yao was well-liked in her previous Academy among teachers is because of her potential at runes. It isn't a simple thing finding someone who can easily pick runes up as quickly as Lu Yao. However, seeing that Lu Yao was very determined in getting stronger and wasn't interested in runes much disheartened the teachers.
Just as Lu Yao was making her way toward Xue Mo with a victorious and a satisfied smile on her face, Lu Yao suddenly fell unconscious. Xue Mo, although exhausted, quickly made his way to Lu Yao, catching her small fox body before it hit the ground.
Xue Mo started sensing what was wrong with Lu Yao, hearing her faint breaths and feeling her body that is soaked with sweat, Xue Mo sighed in relief, "You scared me to death. I thought you died. We should work on this flaw of ours being hardworking is good, as even geniuses to achieve big would need hard work, but rest from time to time to let our bodies and minds relax is just as important." Xue Mo talked to the unconscious lu Yao while also directing the advice to himself.
Xue Mo stared at their surroundings, trying to find a place they can rest. Noticing a small cave in the distance, he started walking in its direction after storing the vial in his Void Samsara Parasite Ring. Xue Mo sauntered towards the cave to not wake the unconscious Lu Yao from her much needed sleep.
Xue Mo walked for almost an hour and a half before arriving at the cave entrance. Laying Lu Yao on his shoulder gently, Xue Mo walked into the cave to check if there was any beast inside. Seeing everything is clear, Xue Mo put Lu Yao on his lap to let her sleep more comfortably.
Xue Mo sat his legs crossed in a meditation position, Lu Yao, on his lap using him as a pillow, was an adorable view to look at. Though anyone who dares see it will not think, but will instead run away as far as they could from the cold aura emitted from both the sleeping Lu Yao and Xue Mo.
Xue Mo crossed his legs and eyes and started meditating. Meditating is something Xue Mo has done all his life as meditation is something important for cultivators. Cultivators, when they cultivate, would have to clear all unnecessary thoughts in their mind and concentrate on what they are doing. Meditation is a basic rule that all cultivators follow and practice. Even in the first stage of cultivation, the Qi sensing stage is all about meditation since cultivators would need to clear their minds and concentrate on sensing the energy around and get to feel it.
'I should try to practice more using black death magic.' Xue Mo thought while meditating. He has gained death magic from the man in white robes that Theodore called master. After possessing him, Xue Mo gained several things that would need digesting, such as the death and earth affinities. The man also had a bloodline in him called half undead, and this specific bloodline gave him his death affinity though it of the lowest grades, barely able to make ghouls and halfway through as what happened to Theodore the subject would die.
Xue Mo learned some knowledge from this man too. The white-robed man was called Sam Walker. He was actually the son of the organization that controls the Ash Expanse. The reason that such a bigshot came here was that the organization found out through spies it kept in the Ash Expanse that the Battle Mage Academy was slowly building an army trying to split themselves from the mid-grade world that rules it.
Finding out about this, the organization in the mid-grade world scoffed, and the people laughed at the foolishness of the Battle Mage Academy. They had the right to, for the Battle Mage Academy to have such laughable thoughts must mean that they hadn't shown their dominance over it.
Bai Xuan, the son of the organization that rules over the Ash Expanse, volunteered to get rid of the small weak Academy, as a show of dominance and warning for anyone thinking of rebelling no one opposed him. When Bai Xuan asked for the mission to get rid of the Battle Mage Academy, no one declined as they knew how strong Bai Xuan is and knowing that he must have other reasons for wanting to come to a low grade world, but not wanting to pry into his business no one questioned him.
The mid-grade world that rules the Battle Mage Academy is a world where beasts rule. But that doesn't mean other races don't have the power there, for humans, elves, vampires and other creatures also have some influence in that world, it's just that the beasts are most of the control there.
The organization that rules over the Ash Expanse and the Battle Mage Academy is called 'The Hybrid.' Humans who established this organization had undead bloodlines in them. These humans are the descendants of the union between greater undead with enormous amounts of vitality in them that let them have the ability to give birth to other creatures.
These kinds of undead are usually weak as they spend all their stat points in vitality. These hybrids often come to be when the undead finds someone they like, or they died. Became an undead and returned to their loved ones, these undead spend their new life trying to give kids for their other half who waited for them, didn't die, or just moved on forgetting them.
Xue Mo has reviewed the information that he got from Bai Xuan many times, but there is one thing that interested him when he looked at it. That being his new Black Death affinity.
