I can feel it. The beating of a boy wanting to run in fear. It's drumming loud in my ear, and beating at my chest, screaming at me to run. Can't they hear it?
Why am I the only one able to hear it?
The screams. . .
They're traumatising.
*
I can feel my body weighing down, trying to stop me from going into the den of demons. My home. I flinch as Mikey pulls his hand from mine and I glance down at him, but realise he's not in front, running to the door. My breath suddenly releases from my lungs and I run up after him, gulping quietly.
"Are you sure you're ready, Mikey?" I say softly, not even sure if I'm ready myself. I watch him nod and without a single string of hesitation, he lifts his arm up and turns the handle on the door. I feel the rush of anxiety in my body as my eyes play tricks on me, blood splattered all over the door. The perfect, white door that our mother picked herself. Father always said the door was ugly, and didn't suit the house, but mother insisted on having it.
Within time, he grew into how the house looked with it. . .
**The next part is pretty much a flashback inside of this flashback**
I can feel the warmth against my skin, a cast of sunshine making my eyelids read inside while they're sealed shut. How fascinating. I let out a sigh, opening my eyes to be greeted by the sun, the trees, my father and brother's giggling together. Xeno?
I sit up, my eyes heavy from sleeping as I look around, the bright light casted upon me making it a tad bit hard to see, even if it shouldn't.
I can hear my mother yelling cheerfully towards my father, pointing to a bright white door that he seems to pause and frown at briefly. I shift silently, getting up on my own as I watch my father and brother walk away.
I feel myself following, not wanting to be alone, even if I was safe on the field, I didn't feel like it.
"Why did you get a new door, mother?" Xeno asks, tilting his head at it, and I direct my eyes to her smile.
"I think it would look perfect on the house! Don't you guys?" Her cheerful smile made my heart beat. Happiness filled my body. I love when she smiles, it makes me feel safe when Mother is around.
"I think it's pretty ugly." I lay my eyes upon my dad, and his frown, gulping quietly.
"Oh come on Errick, it's not ugly." Mother seems to be defending the door, even though it's an inanimate object that is completely worthless in a sense, other than keeping heat inside, and animals out.
"It's a bright white and the house is made of stone, how would it look nice?" He tilted his head and my mother huffs moodily, crossing her arms.
"Well I think it's going to look just fine! And it's staying on there till the day I die!" She answered, chirply.
