"This is making me crazy!" a lady says, visibly distressed and engrossed in her mathematics book and seemingly grappling with the complexities of the subject. Her frustration reaches a crescendo as she resorts to hitting her head with the hefty tome, oblivious to the concerned gazes of Lord Leo and Lord Jay.
"Do you need help with that?" Jay inquires, extending a helping hand.
"No~" she answers still burying her face on the pages of the book.
"Come on~" they insist.
"Just. Leave. Me. Alone." she orders. Consumed by her vexation, she dismisses their offer, preferring to be left alone in her distress.
"Hey! We mean no harm. We just wanna help," Jay persists.
"Okay. Here you go," she says without lifting her face as she hands the math book. Thinking they are her friends Kyle and Peter, she doesn't bother looking at them.
In a misguided attempt to engage with her, Leo takes the book from her hands and hits her head with it, inadvertently causing her physical pain.
She screams in pain. She lifts her head and sees the two lords looking at her in confusion.
"Are you mad?" she shouts getting the attention of some students.
The situation escalates rapidly, drawing the attention of onlookers and leading to a heated exchange between her and the two lords.
"I asked you if you needed help~," Jay argues.
"Yeah... we were just trying to help you!" Leo supports.
"By hitting my head? Are you nuts?" she screams... clearly furious at their actions.
"I thought~ you were hitting your head~" Leo explains.
"Where on earth can you find someone who needs help just to get hit on the head? Argh! I am already having problems with my Math subject coz I am not really good at it. Added to my injury, my useless friend bet with our classmates that I could have a perfect score on our quiz tomorrow for $100. So, I am trying to figure out how to do the impossible. Now, here you come hitting my head with this godforsaken book!" she quickly and loudly speaks while the two lords watch in awe.
"God! You are so tiny, how can you speak that loud?
"And fast," Jay added.
"And fast?" Leo asks after looking at her from head to foot.
"Uhm... I think she's being possessed by Eminem's grandmom," Jay whispers to his cousin.
They laugh as they both agree on his idea.
She loses her temper. This unexpected encounter only serves to exacerbate her already overwhelming predicament, leading to a display of frustration and anger. She takes her math book and throws it to them.
Leo dodges quickly, but Jay doesn't. The book hits his forehead making him lose his balance and fall to the pavement.
"Serves you right, bastard!" she says before picking up her book and storming off leaving Leo shocked and Jay writhing in pain while holding his forehead.
The repercussions of her impulsive actions reverberate through the campus, leaving an indelible impression on those who bear witness to the tumultuous encounter. But, she doesn't seem to care.
From my window, I enjoy the drama unfolding before me.
"Boris, who is that girl?" I ask Boris, my assistant, as I point at the lady walking away in a complete rage.
"Ah~ that is Sophia Maridone Lopez. She a sophomore in BS Psychology," he replies.
"Boris... I am asking about her background," I scoff.
"Oh, goodness me. Sorry, professor! Well, she is the only daughter of the self-made millionaire, Marco Lopez. You know the rumors, right?" he replies.
"Interesting," I say, more likely to myself than to my assistant.
"Summon the lady. I would like to discuss the significance of understanding the motivations and emotions that underpin human behavior," I order as he nods even if he doesn't know clearly what I meant.
Sophia's POV:
'Oh my god. What did I do today that I am being punished? Dios Mio, por favor!'
She is in front of my assistant asking her to meet me after her class.
She feels cold just thinking about it. Instinctively, she wraps her arms around herself and shivers.
Boris immediately gets the idea, so he smiles.
"Don't worry. She isn't the type of person most people try to paint. I can attest to that," he says to make her feel better.
Sophia hesitantly nods.
After her last class, she goes straight to the restroom to relieve herself. She has had butterflies in her stomach since Boris approached her a couple of hours ago.
"Why does she want to see me? Mama Mia! I still have to review for my math quiz. Ugh! This is a crazy day!" she says to herself in front of a mirror.
"Are you okay?" another student asks as she washes her hands.
Sophia turns to her and looks at her from head to foot. She is smiling warmly but looks anxious at the same time.
"I don't think you should be worrying about me. You should worry about yourself. You seem sick and you need some help," Sophia tells her straight before leaving her red in the face.
Sophia knocks on my door.
"Come in," I say.
"God~ even her voice gives me chills."
I hear her whisper before she opens the door.
"Sit," I say gesturing for her to sit on the sofa in front of me.
"T- thank you," she answers as she slowly sits down.
"Do you have any idea why you are here?" I ask.
"No, professor," Sophia replies.
"Hmmm. I saw you throwing a book at a student earlier today. Why did you do that?" I asked again.
"He started it. He hit my head with the book, so I was mad and~"
"You are a Psychology student. Am I right?"
She nods.
"Then, I expect you to be more patient contrary to your impulsive nature."
"But~ I am just having a bad day. That's all!"
"Do you have any idea who you hit?"
She thinks for a moment then shakes her head.
"That is Lord Jay Harrison Spencer!"
She screams upon realizing who he is.
I grin.
