Dear best friend,
I hope this letter finds you in your best spirits. It has come to my attention that recently you are feeling unloved and self-conscious. Also, that you are feeling monachopsis; it's okay to feel out of place sometimes.
I do not address you on the subject without any intention of discussion of the abstract question of why should you love yourself. I simply wish to turn this upsetting change to some account for the general welfare.
What does the word 'love' truly mean? Love means an intense feeling of affection. In my opinion, everyone has a right to feel loved by others and also by themselves whether or not they are 'perfect'.
I, myself am not 'perfect' but little by little I am learning to love myself. Today, I am who I am with all of my faults and my mistakes. Tomorrow, I might be a tiny bit wiser, and that'll be me too. I have come to love myself for who I am, for who I was, and for whom I hope to become. Me of yesterday, me of today, me of tomorrow with no exceptions, it's all me.
Now, it is not just me who knows this; my views are shared by millions of people, including the world-famous boyband BTS. A famous lyrics from one of their songs is "I'm the one I should love in this world
Shining me, the precious soul of mine. I finally realized so I love me. Not so perfect but so beautiful. I'm the one I should love" from Epiphany.
However, some people do not understand the true meaning of 'loving myself', leading themselves to do self-harms, depression which can further lead to committing suicide. Self-love is not selfish; you cannot truly love another until you know how to love yourself. Be yourself. Accept your flaws. "Love yourself first, because that's who you'll be spending the rest of your life with."
Thank you and best wishes,
Lami
