When I saw the wyvern, my first thought was something along the lines of 'I need to protect them'.
"Why is a wyvern on the second floor?" I whispered to Nick who stood just behind me.
"I guess they like jungles'' He whispered back.
I gestured for everyone to retreat the way we had come.
Before we could exit the floor, the wyvern opened an eye.
"Where are you going, little challengers?" As it spoke, the door swung shut. "I can't have you leaving my little test, now can I?"
The fact that it was treating us like entertainment made me angry.
"Oh? And what's your test?" Anger made me bold.
"Ohohoho. You're a brave little fella." It said, whipping its tail at me.
I dodged, but watched in dismay as the tail then took out Nick.
Nymph hurriedly healed him.
"Your test is to survive for five minutes agsinst me." It said as if it was amused.
"Start the timer." I growled and activated my taunt.
"Oh? That's a powerful taunt skill." It said. "Guess I have to take care of you first."
It began raining blow after blow at me, using its tail.
I was able to withstand the force behind its blows, but my shield wasn't quite up to the task.
With every blow the shield splintered a little more.
Nick took this as an opprotune time to attack and activated his flame blade.
Swiftly coming up on its flank, he was able to dodge the claw that was swiped at it and sink his now two-meter long sword into the wyvern's side.
It roared in pain.
"Soul fire is useless against those of us who reside in this tower!" It roared. "We don't have souls that are our own!"
Nymph's pale green fire spell hit the leision that Nick had just opened up, causing some of its flesh to explode from the impact site.
It roared again and began flailing it's tail and claws every which way.
Atlas, in the few seconds it's guard was down managed to stick a fully charged arrow in it's left eye.
It utterly destroyed the wyvern's eye, leaving it's depth perception flawed.
The wyvern's smug attitude vanished like smoke.
Now, it's voice was serious, but was hinted with panic.
"I will kill you all." It said.
"Too bad you don't have dragon fire." I taunted.
"I might not have dragon fire, but I have spells." The wyvern responded, a little of it's smug attitude returning.
As I watched, the wyvern's skin started glowing with strange white patterns that stood out against the wyvern's forest green skin.
The wyvern roared as it slowly formed a lightning storm above it.
Once it was fully formed, the wyvern roared once more. "DIE PUNY INSECTS!"
"Abandon anything that's metal!'' I exclaimed, throwing my iron-studded shield into my pouch.
Nick had enough time to put his sword and jacket in his spatial pouch, while Nymphadora didn't carry anything that was metal.
Atlas ignored me and waited for his perfect shot, despite there being metal on his bow.
When the wyvern's head came down, Atlas loosed the arrow and shoved the bow into his spatial pouch, barely in time to avoid the lightning storm's cast.
The arrow he had finally loosed took out the other one of the wyvern's eyes, rendering it blind and making it so the storm couldn't be directed towards us.
We all regrouped away from the epicentre of the storm and started attacking the wyvern once more.
