Juin's class was split into two due to its size, but luckily, he was still in the same class as Max. Unluckily… Thomas was in the same class. So were Patrick and John. And to make things worse, that kid Luca was here as well.
"Hey, Luca… You just got transferred last week, and you're back now? That must have been a new record?" a girl said to Luca Rockefeller with a chuckle when he limped into the classroom with a crutch. "What happened to you by the way?"
"Accident," Luca replied with a smile, but his sharp eyes were on Juin, who was standing in front of the class.
Normally, Juin would have averted his eyes, but when faced against this boy who nearly killed Max, an uncontrollable fury rose within his chest.
"Juin, stop!" Lucifer's voice sounded in Juin's mind, and the latter immediately reminded himself of his whereabouts and calmed himself down.
Both of them stared at each other for a while until Juin glanced away and walked toward an empty seat.
He sat down on a seat in the middle of the room, and he glanced around, taking notes of everyone's expression. For some reason, he felt that most of the St. Xavier's students were staring at him, and not in a good way.
Juin took out his earphones and plugged it into his phone before putting the earbuds into his ears. "Your Majesty… Don't you think..."
Lucifer was floating freely in midair when Juin asked the question. He immediately interrupted his vessel, "I'm not sure if you're unlucky or someone is behind this, but other than your little girlfriend, the people here either want to kill you..." Lucifer glanced at Luca Rockefeller and his small group of friends, and then looked at Patrick and John, who were sitting at a corner by themselves, and said, "used to want to kill you."
He then looked at Thomas, who was arguing with Max about something at the back of the room, and said, "And another one who looks like he would like you to be gone as well."
Juin sighed and plopped his head on the desk. "I just want an easy life… Why can't I get it?"
Lucifer looked at the students from St. Xavier. He then closed his eyes and tried to sense their bloodlines. "There's at least one werewolf here…" He looked at Patrick and John, who kept looking over at a solemn-looking teenager with dark, brown hair who was reading manga at his desk. "That's probably the one…"
Juin looked over. "He seems pretty harmless… At least, he's not as big as Thomas."
"As a human, yes. But be careful. If I can sense him, then that means that his bloodline is strong. And given how those two from your school are afraid to even lift up their heads, that kid is probably an alpha. Better don't get on his bad side."
"Alpha…" Juin murmured. "That's the leader of the pack, right?"
"Yeah…" Lucifer nodded. "Actually, refrain from talking to me. Just write down what you want to say."
Juin was about to ask why when he realized it himself. He then quickly typed down. "Wolf hearing?"
"Enhanced hearing. I will teach you how to set up a barrier. We have confirmed that you have some spirit strength. Even though you can't use it freely now, but if you draw it out, it shouldn't be hard."
Lucifer knew that Juin could conjure Soul Fire, but it was too dangerous for him to use Soul Fire as a defense mechanism, not before he learned how to move it at will.
[ Draw? ]
Lucifer floated to in front of Juin and put his left fist out on Juin's desk, palm up. When he opened it, a small diagram appeared on it, floating a few centimeters from the palm. "When you are strong enough, you would be able to create these diagrams in your mind almost immediately. But since you have never had training before, you can use items to help."
[Items? Like… amulet? Or those Chinese talismans?]
Juin wrote down on his phone. He saw a Chinese movie about vampires once, and the Taoists in the movie used talismans to control the vampires.
Lucifer nodded. "Back when human mages were abundant in my world, I heard that they used to teach their younglings by making them draw diagrams before they learned how to control their strength. The younglings would walk around with items that were drawn or carved with certain diagrams. So, until you learned how to regulate your spirit strength better, that's what you would be doing."
Juin sighed. He completely foresaw that he would be suffering again after this. At least that would be another torture. His body was still aching from the Saturday torture, and he was hoping for a few more days of rest before the next session.
He quickly typed,
[ Is there any other way? ]
"Not for pure-blooded humans. Element users, like that Luca boy, might be able to summon the power of elements at will, but that's because they are blessed by the heavens. However, even they need to use diagrams, except that the purpose is to help them control their strength," Lucifer explained.
"Mad Dog is here!" a kid yelled as he ran into the classroom before dashing to his seat.
There were a lot of noises as the kids scrambled to their seat. A few seconds later, a grey-haired man walked into the room. His multiple earrings with different colored gems were extremely eye-catching, especially since the rest of him was proper and teacher-like.
Juin watched the man as he walked to the teacher's table, feeling as if he had seen him before. An image of a man telling him to calm down appeared in his mind, but he could not recall when.
"Sh*t! Is he our new homeroom teacher?"
"Damn it! He's going to be annoying!"
Juin overheard two of the St. Xavier kids whispering near him. He then glanced at Max, who was sitting behind him, and mouthed, "Heard anything before?"
Max shook her head.
Juin then looked back at the teacher, and he could swear that the man was staring at him.
"Hello, you brats!" the man said loudly before slamming the table with his palms. "As some of you might know, I'm a special homeroom teacher, sent here by your Mr. Principal to control you disgusting lot."
Juin noticed that when he said "special", some of the St. Xavier kids tsked as they glared at their homeroom teacher.
"Now that I'm here, I hope that all of you would behave, and never forget about the rules. Otherwise," the man then looked at Luca and sneered, "I'm more than capable to dish out some punishment.
He then looked at each and every one of the St. Dexter students before saying, "As for you guys, my name is Warlock. No first name for you. While we are at school, you can call me Mr. Warlock or Sir. When you see me outside of school and I have a woman by my side, you will scramble and make yourself scarce. And when you see me outside alone, if there's no life and death matter, do not approach me."
"Warlock?" Both Juin and Lucifer thought at the same time.
Juin was merely curious about the name, but Lucifer had other thoughts as he frowned and murmured to himself, "Is that a coincidence? I don't think so…"
Lucifer was sure that this was the Warlock that saved Juin back then. Mrs. Martin told him that the priest from back then had grey hair and mismatched eyes. And the man in front of him had two different colored eyes.
"He's definitely that Warlock…" Lucifer thought with a grin. This meant that he could get some clues about Juin from this guy.
