Chapter 24 - President Presley

After Juin left, the security guard went up to the second floor where the books on supernatural beings were at. He moved between two black shelves of books and stood in front of one of them. He then rearranged some of the books, which had a sign on them that prevented them from being loaned out by the library, until the spines of some of the books formed a 3 meter round pattern.

"Open," the security guard murmured.

The round pattern glowed with a soft purple before six lines extended out from within the circle, creating an intricate diagram. A few seconds later, the diagram disappeared, replaced by a bright portal. A gust of wind blew out from the place within the portal, slightly lifting up the security guard's silver hair, before the image in the portal settled down.

The security guard could see a comfortable study room with a fireplace, a huge mahogany table, and multiple bookshelves.

The security guard then stepped in, closing the portal behind him.

The moment the security guard reached the huge mahogany table in the room, where a pile of clothes was left on, he heard someone yelling, "President Presley!"

Looking over, he saw a young member of the Order, who was walking toward him with the help of a crutch.

"Luca," President Presley said nonchalantly before removing his security guard uniform and changed it with the clothes on the table. "Sit. How are you feeling now?" he asked with a gentle smile as he took his seat at the end of the table.

"Better. I should be able to attend school next Monday," Luca said with a murderous gaze as he took his seat.

Just when he thought that Juin was about to kill him, the latter fell unconscious. Luca would have taken the opportunity to kill him then if not for his injuries. It took him a while to gather enough strength amid the pain and fly himself out of the school unnoticed.

"The city council has made a decision. Everyone from that class would be transferred to my previous private school. I'll definitely kill him next time…"

The security guard, or as known by everyone in the Order of the Supernatural Code as President Presley, shook his head. With a stern voice, he said, "Leave the kid alone for now. You're obviously not his match."

"President!"

"I just met him," President Presley said as he reached down and pulled open a drawer before pulling out a stack of files. On top of the file was Juin's photo. From the moment the sword and the book disappeared, he had collected all the information of those in the museum at the moment. "Juin… Juin… Juin…" President Presley mumbled as he looked for Juin's file. When he got it, he pulled it out before setting the rest of the files in a fire.

Luca watched as the red flames burned the files without burning anything else that it touched.

"President?" Luca called out in a soft voice when the fire extinguished by itself, wondering what the man was up. President Presley had been his guardian ever since he was recruited by them when he was eight. Luca had accidentally killed his parents a few weeks before when his wind power manifested in the middle of the night.

He had had a nightmare then, and when he woke up, a tornado had formed inside his house, wrecking and damaging everything within before causing the house that he stayed with his parents to collapse from within.

The only reason why he managed to escape from death was that his parents shielded him with their bodies. Ever since then, he had been with the Order, receiving his training and teachings.

President Presley glanced at Luca, but he did not say anything. He merely wrote down something in Juin's file.

[ Demon possession. Demon - unknown. ]

[ Found researching History of Alercane. Demon Origin : Plane, The Nightmare Rift? Country, Alercane?]

He thought for a moment before writing down another sentence.

[ Possible danger : Mild, to be kept under observation. ]

Once he was satisfied with the notes, he took a look at Juin's history and said, "Do not engage in a battle with him yet."

"But, President Presley! He's weak now! If we don't get rid of him now, once the demon fully takes over his body, it would be over."

President Presley glanced up at Luca and said, "Don't think that I don't know what you want to do. You got someone to transfer you without my permission, and you engaged in an unauthorized fight with someone who might or might not be possessed. If I'm correct, you want that demon for yourself, right?"

Luca frowned as he kept his head low.

"I've told you a million times. The demons that could come over to our world aren't demons from hell. No one could bring your parents back."

"I know…" Luca mumbled sadly as he clenched his fists.

"Then why? You want the demon power for strength?"

Luca nodded with a firm expression. "The Battle of the Underground Beings would be held this year. This time, I want to win. But up until now, I don't even have a beast spirit of my own. Without a spirit beast, I won't be able to advance to even the quarter-finals."

The last time, he was defeated by a guy with a beast spirit.

The prizes from the battle were always extremely tempting, and the final winner of each year would always be able to reach heights that were otherwise unreachable for them.

"You can control a spirit beast, but forcefully taking a demon out of its original vessel and putting it into your own body could potentially harm you. Without a contract, you will eventually be consumed by the demon," President Presley explained patiently.

"If I'm strong enough, then I won't!" Luca snapped.

President Presley stared at him. Faced with the piercing silver eyes, Luca Rockefeller gulped in fear. "You lost to that boy before he even realized what he could do. How are you going to fight him once he's fully aware of his strength?"

"He's still weak! The fight was less than 5 minutes! If I can last more than 5 minutes, I would be able to kill him and take over the demon by myself!"

"Forget about it!" President Luca said with a growl. The unlit candlesticks in the room lit up suddenly, startling Luca. "You're one of our strongest Elementalist for your age group. I'll not let you f*ck up your future."

"President Presley!"

"Do not push it just because I care for you. I won't hesitate to punish you as I see fit, Mr. Rockefeller…"

Upon hearing the words "Mr. Rockefeller", Luca backed down. He knew that President Presley meant business. He always called him by his surname whenever he was mad at him.

"Luca," President Presley said with a sigh, "don't get yourself killed for nothing. If the demon that's in Juin's body was a low-ranked demon, then it's still possible for you to forcefully extract it out. But it was able to defeat you with just one physical punch. That should have told you that it's not a simple demon. Recklessly attacking it would only mean bad news for you and the Order."

He understood why Luca wanted the demon. A demon, even a low-ranked one, could boost Luca's strength greatly. Unfortunately for them, in recent years, the churches and temples had gotten rid of most of the demons before the Order could get their hands on them.

However, President Presley received information that supernatural beings had been spotted all over the world a few days ago, and the reports just kept coming in. Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, London... And demons as well; demons who came over with their physical bodies instead of through a possession.

President Presley had a feeling that this had something to do with the book and the sword. He was actually in town now to prepare for a trip to get some of these demons for the use of the Order.

And he had to act fast, before these demons and supernatural beings were taken in by the Dark Night Clan, a group of supernatural beings who chose to remain in the darkness and to maintain the purity of their blood.

Unfortunately, Dark Night Clan could join the Battle of the Underground Beings as well, and if they somehow found a strong being, it might mean bad news for the humans.

President Presley stood up and while carrying Juin's file with him, he walked over to Luca. "The Nakamura Family sent their twins to your school, and a few other families had sent their heirs over as well. Let them fight it out. As for you… Just observe for now."

Luca Rockefeller sighed, but he still nodded obediently.
