Headstrong Level One Chaser (part 4)

Qiao also observed the hawker carefully. He did not want to be cheated with a useless stone. But if he could probably get a skill through a barter like this, it would be a great deal for him. He observed the guy a little more and then made up his mind.

A place where stronger monsters and selfish hunters live and hunt, it reminded him that he needed to learn some skill which could help him in times of trouble.

"Very well, I am willing to buy this agility skill stone," Qiao made up his mind and spoke up.

His observation skill was already quite good enough that he currently didn't need to further temper it. And as a newbie he had limited resources, so learning the trap skill was out of question.

The other skills can wait for him to level up and get enough stones for the exchange.

Agility was not limited to just running at the fastest pace. It also meant to react faster than others. It greatly increased a person's awareness and made them flexible too in a manner. Having a great reaction time allowed a person to save themselves in the most unexpected situations.

It was a bodily skill which could be mastered through practice.

Qiao has already placed the two crimson stones in his pocket which he got from the cave. Shuffling with his leather bag in the middle of the market would not be wise here he felt.

"I have only these two stones for exchange," he brought out the two stones. It was due to his limited knowledge that he thought that these stones were not of any high worth.

The hawker gave the stones a glance and hurriedly grabbed them and hide it in his fist. Before others could give it a look, he stored them. These stones were worth a lot despite only belonging to a level one monster. This monster was rare so these were rarest too and looking from the color it was apparent that the monster must be triggered when it was killed.

Qiao noticed and understood. He had made a mistake by bringing two stones up for exchange. Though he had thirty more reserved with him, he still regretted.

The hawker handed him the stone of soul.

"Why did you take both of them?" Qiao asked looking angry at the hawker.

Since he almost snatched it from his hand, he cannot say that it was a proper exchange.

The hawker was stunned for few moments, he never thought that the newbie would question his action.

"Why would I not?" the hawker's attitude took a one eighty degree change in his tone, "Since you are buying a grade one skill, it is fair for me to take both stones in exchange," he almost gritted.

He was not willing let this matter turn huge but to glare at the newbie was necessary. Would he not lose his reputation if the others came to know that he was bargain against?

"I only showed my stones and you snatched them right away without my consent, do you think I wouldn't mind it?" Qiao was also angry. First of all, it was who was being scammed and second the hawker sounded as if he was the one at fault.

The hawker popped his eyes, to think that a newbie was this arrogant, "Do you know what is my level and strength?" the hawker gnashed his teeth, he was openly threatening him now.

"I don't know what your level of strength is, but your level of robbing is really great," Qiao simply picked the stone of soul and walked away saying this.

He was not going to expend his time quarrelling with this hawker. If the people in the market took notice of his wealth, it would not be a good sign.

To maintain a low profile should be his priority.

"I will definitely find you again in the future," before walking away Qiao told him. He would not forget this hawker and settle this matter in the future, he promised to himself.

"As if you are going to be a level five any time soon…" the hawker mocked him from behind. He knew how hard it was to level up and how hard it was to survive during a hunt.

But inside his mind, he was a little shocked. If this newbie had the guts to warn him like this, where did his confidence come from? How long did he need to reach level five? Would he cross paths with him again in the future or was it a mere bluff? Did he have any strong backing?

But Qiao was already long gone.

He actually did not think he lost much. He had gotten some knowledge about skills and even obtained one. It would be a greatly help for him in the initial hunting with the team of chasers.

As for the matter of grudge, it was necessary to bind grudges because it would provide him more motivation to level up.

If he could not even face some random old guy, who was a higher-level hunter in his prime years, how could he have survived in the twenty first century living alone with his brother? How was he supposed to save his brother from the evil hunter?

Now he was walking towards a weapons shop.

He needed to ask the price of a level five weapon so that he could make a calculation of how long it would take for him to get that worth of stones to buy the weapon.
