Once bitten, twice shy is one of the most ancient wise saying of all times. This simply means, being cautious or scared about repeating an action because it was unpleasant the first time you tried but you know what, women who fall in love are very brave to even be scared of past experiences. Most women think they can change a man they love but honestly a man will only change for the woman he loves and fears losing.
On one Tuesday afternoon, Phyllis received a phone call from Dennis' elder sister. She wanted her daughter to spend her vacation with Phyllis since she knew she could take care of her as she was travelling. She accepted to take care of her because she got to spend time with her when she and Dennis were together and she was a great company. You know five year olds are interesting to be with though they can be a pain in your ass as well. Dennis' sister, Rosie brought her daughter, Chloe to Phyllis in her office the next day. Phyllis had no problem taking care of her ex boyfriend's niece not because he wanted him to come back to her but because she loved him and she didn't mind being good to him even though he disappointed her.
Phyllis had already registered to be a volunteer at a Children's Camp which was scheduled for a week. She took Chloe to the camp. Everyone thought Chloe was Phyllis' daughter because they were both thick and had round faces. They also had a great chemistry which made their bond so deep that, you wouldn't believe they weren't mother and daughter. Chloe also called Phyllis mum and would say yes to anyone who asked her if Phyllis was her mother. Phyllis treated her so well that she never cried to see her mother.
Two days after they had reported to the camp, Dennis also reported because he had also registered to be a volunteer at the camp. Chloe started shouting with joy when she saw his uncle ride towards them. She happily hugged him as soon as she got down from the bike. They both had a dad-daughter relationship because it was Dennis who raised her when her father left her mother when she was a toddler. Dennis carried her in his arms and asked her who brought her to the camp and she quickly replied," my mother" and pointed at Phyllis. Dennis smiled and walked towards her but she frowned when she saw him and was very cold towards him.
Dennis felt sad when Phyllis was cold to him. He asked her why she was being cold towards him but she didn't mind him. "Even if things didn't end well between us, can't we be friends?. Do you know how I have been through because of what happened between us? Phyl, do you think i would have allowed my Sisi to give Chloe to you if I didn't love you?". He tried getting close to her but she pushed him away without even looking at him. There were people watching them so they both moved away from each other. During supper, Dennis used Chloe as an excuse to sit close to Phyllis so that he could talk to her but she was still not responding to him. Dennis asked Phyllis to make time for him so that he could talk to her and left the table.
There was an evening session after supper so they all moved to the auditorium for the program. There was lots of fun activities like drama, choreography, dancing and poetry recitals performed by the children so Chloe got tired and slept even before they got to their hostel as Phyllis piggybacked her. Chloe slept without any difficulty and Phyllis also tried to sleep but saw that her phone's light was on. She saw that Dennis had been trying to call her but it doesn't come through since she had blocked him. So she decided to call him because she felt it was concerning Chloe. Dennis begged Phyllis to meet him outside her hostel and she did. She left Chloe in the care of her roommates as she went to meet him outside.
They had to stand in a corner of the hostel as there was no light. Dennis apologised to Phyllis for everything he's done to her. " I felt choked in the relationship because you made me feel I wasn't a smart man. I love you so much and I haven't been able to move on. I have decided to quit my job because I can't stand seeing you without us talking. I know you think I'm cheating on you with Felicia but it isn't so. I just like her and can't sack her when she comes around. Please forgive me and make me a friend even if I can't make you my woman again. He said it with tears rolling down his face. Phyllis broke down in tears and wept bitterly as he kissed her. She had missed him and couldn't resist him. He hugged her tightly as he kissed her till she was wet and started begging him to fuck him. He asked her to face the wall and put her hands on it for support. He then pulled her underwear down since she was in a short dress and he also pulled his trousers and boxers down and fucked her from behind. They both had forgotten that was outside and anyone could walk into them especially the children at the camp. They hugged each other as Phyllis told him he's forgiven him and was ready for a new start with him. They said their Good nights with a kiss and left for their hostels.
Things got back to normal between them and they started dating again. Soon camp was over and they all went back home. Phyllis took Chloe to her house since her mother wasn't back from her trip but Dennis continued to check up on her and sometimes takes Chloe to his house and brings her back after the spend time together. Vacation was over and Chloe had to go back to her mother. Phyllis took her out to the park for some fun and later took her shopping before she took her to her mother.
Phyllis and Dennis continued to see each other and their relationship was growing beautifully well with peace. One night as they spent the night together, Dennis asked for a loan from Phyllis because his mother was sick and needed an urgent surgery. Phyllis agreed to give it to him and they both went back to bed. Phyllis had to travel to a meeting early morning and couldn't go to the bank. Dennis called her several times and threatened to sell his iPhone to settle his mother's hospital bills but she begged him to wait for her. Phyllis passed by an ATM to make withdrawal of all her savings and took it to him. They had a little misunderstanding and Dennis sacked her from his house. They didn't talk for three days.
After the third day, Phyllis wasn't feeling well and when she went to the hospital, she was told that she was pregnant after series of tests were done on her. She was sad about the pregnancy and really wanted to keep it but she didn't want Dennis to feel she was trapping him with the pregnancy. She therefore called to inform him and he came to her house with an abortion pill he bought from Marie Stopes because they had agreed on that. Dennis brought the pills to her house and insisted that she packed her bags and moved in with him until she recovered from the abortion but she refused so Dennis asked her to get water so that she would take the pill before he left. She took the pill and then Dennis apologised for his actions towards her during their last meeting and assured her of his love before she left.
In the middle of the night, she started feeling some sharp pains in her pelvis and she woke up only to find herself bleeding. She all of a sudden felt like going to the toilet with dizziness and nausea at the same time. She forced herself to her washroom and sat on her WC as she started emptying her bowel. She drank lots of water and called Dennis. He could feel her pain and regretted not taking her to his house. He stayed on the phone with her until she felt asleep after hours. He called to check up on her early morning and begged her to call her office to inform them she was sick and needed some days off but she refused and went to work. He was worried about her and therefore visited her at her office. When he saw that she was busily working without any sign of her pain, he was surprised because he knew he was in severe pain. He forced her to take a break and took her to lunch but she couldn't eat much since she had lost her appetite.
He nursed her until she was healed. He took her out for her to catch some fun since she had suffered during her abortion. They lived together for a week since Dennis wanted to take care of her for sometime. She travelled for some weeks to conduct interviews for their organisation since it was expanding to different regions. They kept in touch though he wasn't happy with her travelling up and down and working so hard because he felt she hasn't fully recovered. Dennis forced her to take a leave so that she recovered fully. He asked her to fund a vacation for both of them but she refused. She stayed home until she recovered fully before she resumed work.
