'It's the blinds again.'
Over time, Mikael eventually learned to make a characteristic sound when the blinds on his windows were being drawn open or closed.
When he opens his eyes, he sees that Officer Aragon was there and was standing by the windows.
It is daytime.
"Good morning, Brother Khel."
"Morning," he croaks.
"You came to see me when I was confined. Thought I would return the favor."
Mikael smiles weakly.
"Not very good company."
"You? Or me?"
Officer Aragon chuckles.
"How are you feeling?"
"Been better."
"Have the doctors told you what happened to you?"
"More or less."
His tongue feels thick, his mind is thicker. He holds up both hands, heavily bandaged, in front of his face and stares at them.
"Deep cuts. No major arteries or organs hit."
Officer Aragon pats Mikael 's hand
"It is something of a miracle that you are still with us."
