Chapter 2 - That fateful day

The three arrived at Kiah's house. A beautiful yet small and humble house with the sun shining upon the pink painted brickwork and the smooth wooden door. Kiah's room was on the top right of the house, her window could be seen a mile away with an image of a blossom tree and some cute plush toys on the windowsill.

They were greeted by Kiah's mother. "ah hello you three, it's so good to see you all together like this" she said with a twinkle in her eye. "Mum, we're just going upstairs" said Kiah. "I'll bring you up some of those home made cookies" replied her mother. "mmm yes please!" said Kazuma and Jax in unison.

As they entered Kiah's room Kiah began rummaging through some boxes in the corner. The room had a white carpet and pale pink walls making the room look extremely bright. her bed was on the left in the corner. It was lined with floral patterns and beside it was a TV with a playstation and a copy of the new Fairy Quest game beside it. in front of the window facing the opposite house was a desk covered in fake jewelry, glue, tape and string. "Aha! here they are!"

Kiah turned around with three charms in her hand, they were all in the shape of butterflies made with shiny stick on jewels and were attached to a neat piece of string. One charm was pink, one was blue and the other was red. "They're friendship bracelets, they will keep us together forever!" she said handing Kazuma the blue charm and then Jax the pink one. "Ew why do I get the pink one?!" asked Jax with a disgusted look on his face causing Kiah and Kazuma to laugh. "Your always so glum and only wear dark clothes. I thought you might want some more colour in your life" Kiah smiled. "Well if that's what you think I'll keep it" Jax said smiling at the charm. "You had better keep it! I worked hard on those!" Kiah shouted. The three giggled.

Kazuma saw the game beside the TV. "Hey it's fairy quest!" he said excitedly. Jax perked up and grinned "he he, bet I can beat you in a dual?" he said. "Your on!" replied Kazuma daringly. The two clutched their controllers and fought. "I swear you two are always fighting over something" Kiah laughed as her mother walked in with a plate of cookies. "I hope these are ok" she said placing them on the bed. Kiah's mum was always so nice. She was like a mother to all three of the children despite them not being related.

after spending more time at Kiah's house Jax decided to go home and have a nap while Kazuma and Kiah went back to the park. They decided to sit by the train tracks and just talk. "Hey Kiah, what you said earlier, do you really want to hang out with us every day? forever?" asked Kazuma. "Yes every day, forever" Kiah replied. Kazuma sighed. "Jax is going to kill me for this but I want to say it anyway" said Kazuma. "Is this about one of your dumb fights?" she giggled. "No. Jax told me that one day he wants to marry you" said Kazuma in a serious voice. "Would you... want to marry him?" Kazuma's voice began to tremble just a little but he composed himself and looked at Kiah's face. She was smiling. "I don't know. your both my best friends in the whole world and I want to be with you both for the rest of our lives" she said. Kazuma suddenly got the feeling someone was watching them, he turned around to see the woman standing in the trees in a black dress. he took no notice and began to look out onto the train tracks and the luscious wide open field beyond it. it was so quiet here, almost too quiet. There were no birds, no other animals or insects... except for one butterfly that seemed to catch Kiah's eye. "A butterfly!" she said getting up and following it. A strange humming sound began to fill the air, not too loud, Kazuma could barely even hear it. "Look, its blue like the fairy from fairy quest" she said with wonder. The humming got louder. she stopped on the train tracks. louder. she turned around. louder. and gave Kazuma a gentle, friendly smile. louder. like the smiled you give a friend when you need to say goodbye. Louder. Wait that's not humming it's-. CRASH!

A train charged by like a huge metal tank. As quickly as it had appeared it was gone and so was Kiah. Kazuma looked down and saw Kiah's shoe sitting on the tracks and a crimson trail that led somewhere he dared not look. his hands trembled. his mind filled with disbelief and shock. black clouds invaded the sapphire sky and rain began to pour as Kazuma's anguished sorrowful screams filled the air...
