After several hours Adam woke up and was feeling better after his early morning awakening and conversation with his dad. Sitting up in his bed he could hear the shuffling of feet that he knew was his mother, he was still feeling a little nervous about seeing what her reaction will be to him having a Grace.
Adam ~ I know that she will still love me but I still feel scared that she will see me differently. Well I can't stay in my room forever, better get up and get this over with.
Adam got up from his bed and got dressed, his usual wear was a grey looking Tshirt with black pants. After getting dressed Adam paused at his door and took a deep breath before getting ready to open it.
Adam ~ Even if I feel smarter and calmer I still get these irrational fears, it actually feels good to know that even if I'm Graced I am still human.
After calming himself down Adam opened his door and walked toward the kitchen, ready for whatever reaction his mother is going to have, just it wasn't what he was expecting.
Adam - "Hey mom!"
As Adam called out his mother Jamie Dex turned around to greet her son. His mother stood in the kitchen with her shoulder length dirty blond hair and bright smile with hazel eyes staring at her son.
Jamie - "Hey birthday boy, get washed up and come have some breakfast."
Adam had a confused look on his face from the almost zero reaction his mother had to seeing that he had awakened a Grace.
Adam - "Umm.....OK, is that it?"
Jamie - "What? Were you expecting me to scream and cry from seeing you?"
Adam - "I don't know, I thought maybe some kind of reaction.....I mean its not everyday you child becomes Graced."
Jamie - "Well sorry to disappoint young man but your father already told me about your Grace and if I really had a problem with people who are Graced I wouldn't have married your father in the first place."
Jamie then walked over to Adam and pulled him into a hug.
Jamie - "Remember that you will always be my baby boy, no silly Grace will change that."
As she said that to him she gave Adam the most beautiful smile he had ever seen in his life. Adam started to tear up and he felt a since of relief and as if a weight had been taken off his shoulders.
Adam - "I love you mom."
Jamie - "I know."
Just as they were getting all mushy Adus walked into the house from outside.
Adus - "All right all right, enough weeping!"
Both Jamie and Adam were startled by his sudden loud voice, they both wiped some tears from their eyes and then turned to glare at Adus. Seeing the murderous aura coming from his wife for breaking the sweet moment she was having with her son, Adus quickly changed the focus to what the family would do next.
Adus - "(cough)(cough) well we should talk about what is going to happen next. I still have a week before I need to return to Randa city, and when I do Adam will have to go with me."
Jamie - "WHY!? ... I mean why so soon honey?"
Adus - "You know as well as I do that if anyone awakens a Grace they have to report to the king."
Jamie - "I know but does it have to be so soon, Adam has only just turned 6 today, surely we can wait for a month or two."
Adus - "Yes we could, but what if someone sees Adam and reports it to the kingdom, we may be suspected of trying to hide him which would most likely result in us being detained. It is better for me to bring Adam before the king myself and that way I can request that he stay with us while I train him."
Jamie - ".....ok...."
Adam - "Don't worry mom, I am not leaving forever."
Seeing her son smiling up at her made her feel a bit better and she understood that this was the best way for Adam to still possibly live at home.
Adus - "All right, enough of this depressing mood, let's have breakfast and then we are going to start your training Adam."
The family then sat around the diner table for breakfast. After having breakfast Adus took Adam outside to start teaching him how to exercise and how to fight.
Adus - "OK Adam, since your body is still growing we can't do anything exercises that are to strenuous as it will affect how your body grows."
Adam stood in front of his dad listening closely to everything he was saying and absorbing it like a sponge.
Adus - "For now we will go with some light jogging and running to build up your stamina and endurance, as well as some light body weight exercises like push ups and sit-ups. Besides exercise I am also going to train you in different forms of combat. After that at night I will teach you everything I know about military tactics and anything else I have learned through my life."
Adam - "OK dad."
Over the next week Adus and Adam sticked to the training program with some adjusts because after Adus showed Adam different fighting techniques he finally saw how much his sons Grace could really help him become a master warrior; Everytime Adus showed Adam something new Adam would be able to replicate it immediately albeit not as fast or with any fighting instinct, so Adus added some light sparring to help Adam learn how to better apply what he was learning.
Adus also learned just how much his son thirsts for knowledge and how much smarter he had become by always asking questions and also adding what he thought about the different subjects he was learning.
A week went by in a flash, and while Adam learned a lot it still was only the beginning, now it was time for both Adam and his dad to head to Randa city.
