Stella opened her eyes, they were completely bloodshot.
She frantically looked around the room, "Mmmmm. Ahhh." She tried to scream and shout... But nothing came out.
She resisted the chains binding her, her arms had a death grip on the bed she was on. Not allowing her the freedom she desired.
The room... had a gray ceiling, the hospital equipment continued to ring in her eyes. The beeps from the heart monitor... The blood pumping into her body...
...............
"I can't just stay in here and watch this!" Vi shouted at the top of her lungs.
What she was seeing... It couldn't be possible, right? The Stella she knew was all-powerful, she didn't hesitate to kill. She had no weakness, she grew up in harsh circumstances but she overcomes those...
"Vi, Di. What do you think you can do if you go into the same room as Miss right now?" A man's cool voice came from beside Vi.
Vi looked at the man, his darker skin tone and large size would make people mistake him for a guard. But he was quite the opposite, being the man the most qualified and trusted around Stella to take care of any injuries acquired.
Vi gritted her teeth. While Di looked at the man with venom in her eyes. "Is this the best you can do Andy?"
Andy responded with a sad smile. "I would love to do more, but it isn't in my capabilities." He took his gaze over to the room where Stella was confined.
Stella couldn't stop screaming and clutching her head. He knew small amounts of information, but he was a doctor with connections. So he could work out that this type of reaction to something meant massive amounts of trauma. An amount he couldn't fathom.
Di walked out of the silent room, it was made to watch over Stella from a safe place... Outside, she clenched her fists and punched the wall. She was upset with herself...
Why? She didn't know, she was saved from Stella when she was in her darkest times... Back then, she didn't know the depth of thought that Stella had. But after spending a few years with her, she came to respect her further.
But knowing that she holds so much trauma that she can go crazy if she dreams about the wrong thing? Also knowing that she just coughed up blood until she passed out, she was undoubtedly upset with herself for not realizing these things.
*Sigh* "It isn't her fault. No matter how much you guys blame yourself for what happened it could never be boiled down to you two." Andy sighed as he watched Stella calm down in her room.
Vi's legs shook. She didn't know that Stella could react to this. While she was worried about this reaction, she didn't forget that they still don't know the reason Stella needed medical attention in the first place.
"I recommend resting, this will continue for a while." Andy advised as he walked out of the safe room.
...............
Stella's eyes opened once again. However, instead of being completely bloodshot, there was a distinct calmness in her eyes.
Stella looked down at her arms. She didn't feel those chains, since she had no marks on her arms either...
It had been a while since she dreamt that again. She then held back a cough which threatened to take over.
"It's nice to see you Miss." Stella noticed the voice of Andy walking into the room.
Stella didn't react, as she looked over to the various machines and tubes keeping her monitored...
"I wish we didn't need to keep seeing each other like this Miss. It is upsetting for my soul." Andy smiled, as he watched Stella unplug all the tubes and wires for the machines.
Stella cracked her neck and sat up in the bed. "How many months have I got left?" She asked, not a single fleeting emotion was in her voice.
*Sigh* "Straight to business huh?" Andy muttered, as he flipped a piece of paper on his clipboard.
"Your intestines have shrunk 3 millimeters, you only have one functioning kidney while the other has already failed. The remaining kidney is currently heavily inflamed and has a lethal poison acting within. Your heart has reached 20 beats per minute and is dangerously close to completely failing. The acid in your stomach is melting your throat from when you coughed up your blood." Andy listed some of Stella's issues.
He knew Stella didn't want to hear any medical terms so he kept things simple. Essentially, her entire body was failing. From her heart rate becoming dangerously low, to her stomach acid reflecting and burning the insides of her throat since she can't keep the acid in her stomach...
Stella just listened, she wasn't scared of dying. Why would she? People dying was just a part of nature, humans can live until they are a hundred. Turtles could live thousands of years. While bees struggle to live months if they are lucky.
"Miss... I would be amazed if you lived another 3 months." Andy announced with a heavy tone.
Woah... 3 months... "I didn't expect I had that long left." Stella commented with a chuckle.
Andy closed his eyes slowly. Of all the people he had worked on over the years, the one patient he wanted to live the most. Had no desire to live, she was just waiting for the day her body gives up on her.
Stella stood up and walked up to Andy. Being a man over 6 foot 4 inches (193cm) he towered over Stella, but the emotionless eyes that looked at Andy made him inwardly shudder.
"How long was I asleep for?" Stella asked as she opened the door.
Andy followed behind her. His face showing wrinkles at Stella's lack of care for herself. "Two weeks. Vi and Di contacted me as soon as they found you on the floor." Andy gave a reminder of how Stella appeared in the room designed for Stella when she encounters medical issues.
Stella nodded. "I see, make sure Vi and Di are ready at the apartment for their orders." Stella responded as she thought about what she should eat tonight...
Black lines appeared on Andy's forehead, he had known for so many years that Stella's body was giving up on her. But she already gave up on herself long ago... She had no desire to live when she doesn't feel emotions anymore...
As someone who wishes Stella could live it aggravated him, but he also knew that he just didn't have the means to save Stella. He had no idea how but she was poisoned in her internal organs and had a strange reading in her brain. Stella never talked about it and Andy could never ask. For Andy, this was the worst part about knowing Stella's problems. He had no way to fix them.
