Morning struck as I wake up from my bed, all covered in sweat.
I can't seem to remember exactly what happened from that dream, but I do recall some minor details, regarding some experiment that was supposed to happen. But the question is, what does it have to do with the dream I just had? Is it related to that? or something bigger?
Brushing it off, I decided to fix my bed again, the same routine I was doing for the past 37 years. My wife found it very reliable that I could fix myself from time to time, so she was happy with the way I was doing away my life.
I remember the day when she and I were still in high school, where I was the typical teenager who was too absorbed in books and spending time in the school library while she was the straight A student, gaining the trust from everyone around her.
If I would describe it, she would compared to ball of radiant light where I would be called the gloomy darkness from the rumors and shit they say to me behind my back, but despite the rumors and shit they say, I often give a blind eye and continue being absorbed in the book I was reading.
Whenever I see Kasumi when I was in high school, she wore a bright expression on her face, like nothing would get through to her, and anything wouldn't bring her down.
She would the person to help a teacher in need, or helping the other students catch up with their studies or make-up exams. She was just that good of a person to everyone around her.
And our paths crossed finally in the night of the school festival.
I was just walking around the school festival stalls when suddenly one of her friends was pushing her in front of me. My mind had several doubts why they would do this, could they be testing me? Is this a prank? those kind of thoughts came up in my head.
Once she was like good 2 meters across from me, she began to fidget like she had something to say
she then shouted the words
"D-d-do you want to watch the fireworks together!"
Once I heard those words, my brain ultimately exploded from the shock. I was expecting to be alone for the rest of my life, but then this golden opportunity decided to appear itself before me. Do I reject her offer? If I do, would I be labeled as a jerk?! I wouldn't want that!!! While i was racking my brain for a response, she then came up with a follow-up
"I-its okay if you have other things to do. I apologize for giving you a sudden invitation out of the blue..."
My heart jumped out from my chest, she was so cute that my brain just shut off and my heart just did what it wanted to.
"Sure! I would love to watch the fireworks with you!" I said back in response to her question.
Once I said yes, all the joy and happiness sprung up on her face, and a smile brighter than the sun showed itself to me, wishing me a great "see you later" I waved back to her while she runs back to her friends. Her smile was so bright that it was blinding, but may it be blinding, its the most beautiful smile I have ever seen.
When I was sitting on a bench just beside the festival stall, her friend, Yuriko who was also a straight A student like her from another class below her came up to me to say that Yoshizawa will be waiting on the field for the fireworks event.
I said thanks to her, and she became embarrassed with visible flush of red on her face. She then whispered to her self "And here I thought you were just a desolate individual, I didn't know you could smile like that" which I couldn't hear properly.
Before she left, she told me "You better not keep her waiting!" and so as she said that, she ran towards the field.
I then checked the clock on the pole nearby and it was nearing to 8pm, the sirens also rung as it said "The fireworks is now starting, please head to the location where you want to see the fireworks the most"
I then ran toward the field, but then once I arrived in the field, she wasn't there, her other friend Kyoko then told me that she was in at the top of the mountain. I looked up and saw her faint silhouette and ran towards the top.
The first firework lit its spark and while I was running, bunch of different colors popped in the sky, revealing all kinds of hues, making my way up to the rocky mountain.
I was exhausted once I arrived at the top of the mountain. I saw her standing there with her kimono, with the bright lights of the fireworks behind her. I then said with my shortness of breath.
"You sure are my Radiant Light to my Dismal Darkness, Kasumi." I smiled despite the exhaustion from that run up the mountain.
With tears on her eyes, she then ran up to me and hugged me tightly.
"I love you. Hisashi" I heard her say as she hugged me.
I then hugged her back and told her.
"I love you too. Kasumi."
Back to the present day, I find myself smiling at the distant memory of me and her. She then saw me humming to myself, and asked me whilst holding the laundry basket.
"What are you humming to yourself for, darling?"
I just casually answered her with a simple "Well, how much I love you, Kasumi" with a single giggle.
She became red in the face and proceed to blurt some few words.
"W-well, I-I lo-love you too, darling"
When I checked the clock in the living room, it was already 9am, I then gathered up my clothes and went straight to the bathroom to get ready for work.
Once I was done with the bathroom, I then went to my room to get dressed. And so with my tie in hand, I proceed to tie it by myself but to no avail. Luckily, Kasumi was in the living room to tie my tie, and after she done it, I was then hugged by my daughter Naoko telling me to be careful on the way to work. I then kiss her on the forehead and kasumi kissing me on the cheek.
I then walk out the door and run up until to the station.
I then entered the train and made my way to the office.
After 20 minutes, the train has already arrived to my destination, I then go to office front entrace only to see Ryuu Asano.
"Looks like the main character of the show has arrived. Wanna see that thing that will make the corporate leaders go rich in madness? Haha"
I swallowed my nervousness down to my throat and said to myself.
"I will protect my family, if its the last thing I do."
