Chapter 113 - The new golems

Nearly an entire day had gone by. Will worked tirelessly on his incredible Golems, as well as the truck Golems.

He came up with the truck Golem's name, Monster Golems. He got the idea from 'monster trucks' because he thought it sounded cool and also because of their design.

The new incredible Golems have gotten an upgrade. Each Golem has two new weapons installed, a powerful mini cannon installed on the upper part, they're weaker but faster than a large cannonball, but stronger and slower than a regular bullet, especially if they have the explosive enchantment.

The second weapon is just a minigun or as he sometimes calls it 'mini turrets' with bullets that have the piercing enchantments, it was located on the opposite side of the mini cannon so they wouldn't clash with one another. Both weapons could rotate at a 360 degree angle.

Their bodies are great for rolling around and crushing any small creatures. They don't need eyes to see either, they can see everything around them.

Their retractable arms also got a new look. They looked like Doctor Octavius's tentacle arms. The tip of their 6 arms could not only be used to support the Golem and grab stuff, but they could crush and pierce anything.

The neat part about Nameless being the most intelligent Golem is that he could also remember and predict patterns from others, much like an intelligent A.I., it slowly learns to adapt as it learns.

The monster trucks have gotten a new look. They weigh nearly 7,000 pounds each. They all could carry hundreds of pounds. It had more weapons than any other Golem and more arms than the Incredible Golems, as well it being the heaviest Golems to date. And yes Will made every single on of his Golems out of titanium because of its light weight and toughness.

Behind the truck is where the monster parts would be carried. It looked like a large, metal, cylinder shaped object. At a glance there appears to be no exit or entrance.

One thing to remember about Will's Golems is that they were all enchanted with the best enchantments. That was the most tedious part and also most expensive when making these Golems.

The trucks had 16 wheels. Each wheel had dozens of mini spikes so the wheels would better support the truck and wouldn't tip over as easy. The trucks are not meant for speed but for protecting and gathering large amounts of monster carcasses.

The front part of the truck which would usually be the driving area has a large mouth with no face. The mouth has large, multiple rows of long teeth, that was the entrance and exit to the cylinder. The metal arms would grab the monster corpses and put them in the mouth, making it have the appearance of a metal monster eating monsters, it is where he got the idea of calling it 'monster Golems' since it seemed fitting for their appearance.

The inside of the cylinder has no light source. It has a flat floor despite the shape being a cylinder. It had dozens and dozens of chests to carry even more monster corpses. But it did have smaller arms to place monster corpses inside the chests, and mini turrets were also installed in case any monsters inside the cylinder were alive.

The idea of adding chests inside the trucks was Nameless' idea. Will stood still for a few minutes, staring into the abyss, contemplating his own stupidity. How he didn't think of that in the first place is a mystery to him.

Will was glad to make these Golems nonetheless.

"The monster Golems and Incredible Golems, your designs are complete. Go find any apex monsters out there, kill them, and bring their corpses to me."

"Yes, Master." The monster Golem spoke had a very loud and deep voice because Will gave it a large mouth which made it sound like a speaker at max volume.

The Incredible Golems, Monster Golems, and even some soldier Golems traveled side by side in groups.

Will included soldier Golems for a few reasons, they could help collect the parts of larger monsters, how else are the Monster and Incredible supposed to cut monster parts?

While all the soldier Golems carried long ranged weapons, one of the soldier Golems carried an additional but important item, the magical pickaxe.

Will thought if the magical pickaxe could be used on living beings as well, then he would have not just a great tool but another powerful weapon at his disposal.

Beside Will there was an even larger Golem he had been working on. He hasn't made much progress on it sadly.

Will also had another Golem in the making, the helicopter Golem, which is exactly as it sounds like.

Thanks to Nameless Will received a lot of help from it and was able to mostly finish the helicopter Golem. Its purpose would be to scout the skies and fight dragons while in the air.

Each helicopter carried only 3 weapons, one weirdly shaped giant cannon that was attached at the bottom of the helicopter. The shape of the cannon was designed to support the helicopter once it lands on the ground, otherwise the cannon would hinder the helicopter.

The bottom of the cannon was flat, but the rest of it appeared to be shaped like a cannon. It rotates at a 360 degree angle. The other two weapons were mini cannons that were placed on both sides of the helicopter.

The inside of the helicopter was hollow so the helicopter would be lighter. It was made of titanium being the lightest metal he owned which was perfect.

The helicopter Golems are the only Golems Will gave the enchantment {feather light V} which reduces its weight. Will did not like using this enchant because it wasn't necessary, according to him, and the more enchantments he places on an object the more resources it requires. It nearly made them as light as an ordinary worker Golem.

"Master, isn't it time for you to head to bed?" His Golem asked, worried. He had not slept for an entire day, only working and improving his Golem's designs.

"I'm fine."

Will did indeed feel fine. The ring that gave him stamina barely made him feel tired.

It wouldn't be for another few days of working nonstop until Will finally felt somewhat tired, he only took breaks when using the bathroom. And while he ate he also worked.

Will worked for 4 days in a row nonstop.

The stamina ring on his finger impressed Will for making him last this long despite how he got it.

Before even with huge amounts of caffeine, sugar, and junk food he could stay up playing nonstop for 2-3 days before passing out. But now during his fourth sleepless night he felt somewhat sleepy.

It was also his fear of everyone dying that made him work.

Will was able to complete the helicopter Golem by the second day. But he went beyond by creating more Golems, the amount of Incredible, Monster, and helicopter Golems combined exceeded his worker Golems.

"Master, we have detected some human life forms, 3 male and 1 female."

"Just ignore them."

Will didn't care anymore if they saw his Golems. Word about his Golems is soon going to be known soon.

In fact his Golems have already saved and protected 2 people from dragons who were on their way to the Sun kingdom, 2 men in their 20's apparently who are brothers. After being saved an Incredible Golem would guide them to the Sun kingdom.

A few hours later…

"Master, the four humans I mentioned are attacking the Incredible Golems. They appear to be heroes.

"All four are heroes?" Will looked at his Golem in awe.

"Yes."

He thought about it for a moment before deciding what the best action was right.

"Use some force to fight back. If they don't run away then kill them."

'What's four more?' Will thought. It wouldn't make any difference if he killed more heroes at this point, he had already killed 4.

"Yes, Master."

Meanwhile…

A few days ago this happened.

Everybody has heard and seen a number of dragons flying everywhere more than usual thanks to Josh. These dragons don't fly near the Reyes kingdom, or the Empire, or deep into the forest where the elves live, but they are attacking any being that catches their eyes. No one was safe when traveling anymore.

The king has not heard from Josh, Pete, or the three other heroes he sent to Will's kingdom, he started to fear the worst had befallen on his heroes.

Losing perhaps one hero is inevitable within the first year, but losing five at the same time, and one of them being Josh who has such a powerful ability, he cannot possibly afford to lose them.

Victoria was different as she was branded as a criminal by the Great Sage. There is always at least one hero who turns out like her sometimes more.

If he could, he would forgive her crimes to welcome her back because she is a powerful hero, but the Great Sage's words were more important than the king's. No one knows where she is at the moment.

He had sent 2 nobles to go to the Sun kingdom to find out where his heroes were, but those nobles never made it as they had been eaten by a dragon.

The king had pleaded to the Great Sage to find his heroes, but as usual the Great Sage didn't care. If they decided to venture out in the world then they themselves should come back.

Now he felt it was the time to use his remaining heroes to send them on an "epic quest'' to make it sound appealing, to rescue their comrades.

Surprisingly a few heroes finally stepped up to do something other than nothing as always.

Bruce, Henry, and Britney stepped up to rescue their friends.

In reality Henry and Britney are only going to bring back Pete to the kingdom.

Bruce is going only because Henry and Britney basically begged him to help them find Pete. They didn't care about the other heroes as long as Pete was alive and well.

Some time ago, Henry got worried after not hearing from Pete for 2 days. After asking around, some witnesses saw him and Josh heading outside the kingdom along with two young women.

Nobody has seen either of them return to the Reyes kingdom since then.

Henry went outside of his kingdom, going further than he had traveled before in hopes to find his friend. Britney accompanied Josh since her powers could help deal with monsters, and also because she cares for Henry, as for Pete… she somewhat cared for him.

Problem was for these two young heroes was that they had no clue as to where they were headed. They even attempted to ask the Great Sage for help, but he wouldn't even see them.

And now with these dragons flying everywhere they had no chance of finding Pete.

Henry was sure that Pete was still alive but was in hiding because Henry knew that is exactly what Pete would do instead of putting himself in danger. He will not give up hope until he sees his friend.

They returned to ask the only hero who could help them, Shaun Quincy, but he also declined surprisingly.

Shaun was without a doubt the second strongest hero alive. With his strength, his years of fighting experience, and his magical weapon which is a spear, it is no wonder they asked him for help, not as if they had many options to begin with.

Shaun did not feel the need to help the heroes especially with no leads whatsoever to help them find Josh and Pete. It didn't help that he didn't like Josh at all for obvious reasons such as his annoying personality.

Heck he gave Josh the 'okay' to leave the kingdom earlier than any other hero because he couldn't tolerate to see him anymore, all while under the excuse of "he is too strong to keep him here for another second, he should go outside the kingdom, and never return."

He never said the last part although he wanted to.

Pete, however, is the laziest person he had ever met, even compared to his other useless peers. As someone who hates lazy people he of course did not like Pete or the other heroes except for Bruce.

It wouldn't be until today that they asked Bruce for help. They would have asked Bruce for his help long ago but they could not reach him, Bruce was undergoing strict training by Shaun and no one could interrupt him, as per Shaun's words.

Bruce had been training in the black tower, the home of the Great Sage, the Great Sage didn't care who used his home as long as nobody bothered him. It is also the tower where sorcerers work and practice their spells.

Bruce agreed to help Henry find Pete as he did feel the need to rescue people, also to take down monsters because deep down he also wanted to experience what it feels like to adventure, but looking at it from a realistic point of view Bruce had zero confidence in taking down a dragon or other strong monsters by himself.

Bruce's hero ability does not let him injure his bones in any way. He could stretch any way he wants, people could try to break it but nothing would work. Bruce's skeleton is a great piece of armor he wears at all times.

But seeing his new teacher, Shaun, being that strong despite having no offensive ability relying only on his strength and experience, also his magical spear. Bruce knew he had to become someone like Shaun to protect himself.

Shaun's hero ability increases his lifespan beyond what is humanly possible, nobody knows how long he can live for with his ability. In the beginning, people called him the 'elf hero' because elves also had long lifespans.

That name didn't last long. Much like the Great Sage he had many other names that were already forgotten, and his current one is 'the century hero.'

Britney's ability is to absorb energy from others, or as the other heroes prefer to call it "the succ."

Henry can copy one hero ability at a time by touching a hero, he would keep that ability permanently until he touches a different hero.

He had tried to copy the Great Sage's power in secret from the beginning, but he never got the chance because the Great Sage won't ever let Henry copy his power. This is one of the reasons the Great Sage does not want to see Henry.

"Heroes, thank you for answering my plea for help. But it is dangerous to go out with these dragons flying everywhere, so I am sending Quincy with you to protect all of you."

Shaun Quincy was beside them and ready to accompany them.

Despite declining Henry's request to help him find Pete, Shaun seemed eager to go with them now, especially since his favorite student, Bruce, is going out to the dangerous world and therefore he cannot let him die.

After giving an unwanted and unnecessary cliche speech to the heroes in front of him, the King dismissed them.

Now that Shaun was going with them, the King felt better knowing that they would be safe.

And so four heroes went out to find five other heroes. The only clue that they have is that 3 of those heroes went to the Sun kingdom for "reasons unknown to them" as per the king's words.

Henry argued that they should find Pete and Josh first. Why Josh? Because if they find Josh first they will know what happened to Pete, being that he is the one who took him with him.

The King was able to convince Henry to first go to the Sun kingdom, perhaps they had seen Pete or Josh, and perhaps that is where they were headed in the first place. Even if it wasn't true there is the slight chance that they somehow ended up there.

Henry, despite feeling that it didn't seem likely, agreed in a reluctant manner. He couldn't complain at this point, the only reason they could go that far is because Shaun was leading them.

Four days would go by in the blink of an eye.

The four heroes continued to walk through the forest, they rested during the night but walked during the day. They were all on their guard the entire time.

Shaun kept watch most of the night. Being the strongest and most experienced one the responsibility fell upon him to take care of the other heroes.

They stayed in caves they could find because camping outside at night, and with a fire, was basically asking for a deathwish.

They had a few close encounters with some dragons. They did well to hide under Shaun's leadership by staying out of plain sight, and masking their scent.

They masked their scent by slicing some oranges in half and using the juicy part on their clothes. The entire forest had a few common fruits growing everywhere, oranges being one of them.

There was an awkward silence and an uncomfortable feeling. Two heroes wanted to find their friend but were too scared and nervous, but still they continued to go forward to find him.

Bruce and Shaun were a bit more calm. Shaun was used to this already. Bruce, despite seeming calm on the outside, was also feeling nervous.

"So…"

"Shh!" Shaun hushed Bruce before he had a chance to speak further. "Focus. We can talk when we are safe."

"Yes, sir."

Shaun could not afford to be distracted. Like the report said, there are a lot of dragons roaming the area, more than he had ever seen. At first he thought they were exaggerating, but now he thought otherwise.

Still he was confident in taking down any dragon that comes his way. With his magical weapon, experience, and strength, he was very powerful.

But if anything goes wrong, he will protect Bruce at all costs. As for the other two heroes… he wouldn't exactly miss them if they were to disappear from the face of the planet.

*ROAR*

The group came to a sudden halt as they ducked. That was a roar they were too familiar with, a dragon's roar.

Shaun made some hand gestures to the others to follow him slowly and quietly.

Peeking through some shrubs they saw three dragons in the far distance, all on the apex layer. Being heroes they had very good eyesight.

The three dragons were on the ground with their heads close to the ground, as if they were tracking something using their acute sense of smell, like a dog would.

They then started speaking.

"Tsew eht sdrawot dedaeh eh kniht I" (I think he headed towards the west.)

"SelrahC oohc-oohc." (Tell the others!)

One of the dragons flew away as the other two began tracking down Josh.

Shaun had no idea what was going on. As he was about to gesture to the others to leave, they heard something else.

The sound grew bigger and louder as the ground began shaking. It felt like an earthquake.

The dragons naturally heard it but had no idea what it was.

Out of the thick forest the trees fell like bowling pins as dozens of giant, metal, enchanted balls came out rolling.

The dragons and nearby heroes were shocked and confused. What were they? There were approximately 30 of these giant ball things that just came out of nowhere.

Obviously these are the Incredible Golems.

Then in perfect unison as if they had done this multiple times, every Golem showed their true form by showing their limbs and weapons. They all had powerful weaponry attached to them, and they were all aiming the two apex dragons.

*BANG* *BANG* *BANG*

*ROAR*

Every shot that came out of the Incredible Golems was aimed for the dragon's face or wings.

Two apex dragons fell in an instant. The enchanted mini cannons and miniguns were too much for even apex dragons, especially if those shots are aimed at their heads.

Will gave his Golem orders not to shoot their heart and lungs, that is where most of their essence was gathered, especially the heart. Anything else was fine.

The heroes stared in awe. Bruce and Britney however recognized their design from an animated movie they watched long ago but said nothing.

The Incredible Golems stood around the dragons corpses as if they were guarding them.

"The hell." Shaun had a hard time believing what he was looking at. Never in his hundred years has he seen anything like that.

"Guys, don't they look like the robots from the Incredibles movie?" Bruce asked, not taking his eyes off those 'robots'.

"So I wasn't the only one who thought of that." Britney added.

"What's that?" Shaun and Henry asked.

Henry never got to watch the Incredibles because he saw the first few minutes and thought it was too boring to keep watching. He has long forgotten about the movie since then and has never thought of giving it another try.

"Well… in the movie they're these robots invented by this rich, evil, but genius guy who hates… superheroes… and those robots are made for the sole purpose to kill… heroes." Bruce's sentence got slower by the word.

Explaining it like that they could not help but feel a bit scared. Was it really a coincidence that someone made these robots when there are heroes in this world while knowing that they are meant to kill heroes?

In reality it was really a coincidence. Will just stole the idea from a movie he loves because he thought their design is simple and useful. The fact that the Omnidroids are made to kill heroes in the movie didn't come to his mind until much later.

And when it did appear in his mind, the thought of his Incredible Golems killing heroes would be quite ironic.

"You're saying that they will kill us?" Henry asked, scared.

"Retreat for now. We'll use a different route to the Sun kingdom." Shaun added. He felt confident taking down two apex dragons, but against 30 foreign enemies who he has no information about, he didn't feel confident fighting them.

They left just as the monster Golems arrived to harvest the dragon corpses.

Shaun and the others noticed that the closer they got to the Sun kingdom, the more of these Golems they saw patrolling the area, some of the Incredible Golems moved in groups while others were alone scouting the area.

Not only that but they saw helicopters above them.

The heroes naturally avoided these Golems as they thought they would kill them on sight, but the Golems already knew of their existence they just chose to ignore them.

"You guys don't think the robots belong to the Sun kingdom?" Bruce pointed out.

"I thought the same, but it isn't likely. They're probably from some unknown power, probably ancient and far older than the Great Sage." Shaun said.

The reason Shaun didn't believe the Golems belonged to the Sun kingdom is simple: because he didn't believe a single hero, especially of this generation, is capable of not only building a kingdom in half a year, but there is no way he could build all those 'robots' who are clearly intelligent, powerful, and great in numbers.

The report did not describe how the kingdom looked like. Before there were some spies from the kingdom living amongst the citizens, at the time no one was allowed inside the Sun kingdom. All they could see was the huge stone wall.

They all died the day Victoria blew up the entire kingdom.

Shaun sincerely believed this kingdom is not a kingdom at all, but more of a large village, and that the reports were exaggerating.

*Rumble*

The ground once again started shaking and it got louder but this time slower.

They saw a horde of those incredible Golems headed their way by rolling at a great speed.

"Oh, shit, they found us. Run!" Henry said as he began to fly.

Before coming to the kingdom, to scout the area better he decided to copy one of the other heroes' ability to fly.

"Don't! We can't outrun them!" Shaun grabbed and held tightly onto Henry's arm.

Henry felt a jolt in his body as his body fell to the ground, it was a feeling he was all too familiar with. As soon as Shaun touched his arm his flying ability got replaced by Shaun's instead which explained the jolt he felt.

Henry realized he just lost his ability to fly away safely.

"Stand your ground. We will fight these killer hero 'robots'" Ignoring Henry's shocked face, Shaun drew out his spear.

Shaun wanted to run away to protect Henry, but the Incredible Golems were faster than he was, meaning that there is no way to run from them, only to defend.

Bruce mustered all his strength to lift a tree from its roots and carried it like a baseball bat. Bruce did carry a magical sword with him, but the sword's only ability lets it repair itself when it comes into contact with blood. And also a steel sword won't be able to do much against Golems made of enchanted titanium.

Britney stood behind Shaun. Her ability might be powerful, but something told her she can't 'suck the robots' energy, even if she could she would be dead because she needs to be in direct contact to suck their energy.

As the Golems kept rolling towards the heroes, Shaun, with spear in hand, lunged towards the Golem closest to him and…
