Chapter 17 - Upgrades and Damages

Alexander swiped a window from the side to the fore front, his eyes roaming over his own personal screen reading through the additional information as he tried to ignore the succubus melting g down off to the side in her own world due to her unexpected level up.

Smiling to himself he saw his level was finally visible but he wasn't sure what the pluses by his attributes were or what advancement was. Out of curiosity he touched his Physical plus and noted advancement dropped by five percent, while the stat itself increased by point one. It would seem he'd need to dump all his advancement percentage into a stat to raise it a full point, still it was something. Pushing his physical up he nodded as it changed to a six. Glancing at himself he didn't note any difference, he certainly didn't become ripped by putting a point there...

Still looking to his high Mystical stat that had been raised by five full points in terms of leveling he'd have needed to level five times as much to raise it to that height. This seemed to imply that special events could influence his abilities outside this advancement leveling. Still, not feeling any different he turned to his other windows to see what their level ups did. Pushing aside his personal window he brought up the builder window to see if his twenty thousand was now going to help him more.

Alexander blinked looking at the upgraded builder menu, he now had access to level two constructs but the increased level also decreased the cost of both levels. Still couldn't afford a second dungeon floor however, but it was by far closer in reach. The most notable unlock was that he could now himself upgrade rooms. Death had upgraded his labrynth and it had doubled the floor space, what would his own upgrades do? He was sorely tempted to try it but his eyes swept over the new rooms.

The library would be insanely useful, but the treasury and tavern drew his attention, these two together warned him that he should not level up his beasts too quickly. Likely at Teir five or six his minions would likely demand pay or relaxation on top of rest spaces and food. Sighing he shook his head, wondering quietly if he'd really need such power? The empire had maybe a few that could fight evenly with his goblin commander or Jansea, the rest were simple fodder for his multiple tier three minions.

Leaning back he resisted the urge to sink his merits in some of the Tier two items, he had twenty thousand, fifteen more and he'd have his level. Then again, considering he had to buy a layout seperate he should aim for an additional thirty thousand to be sure he got the floor and a layout. Pushing that menu aside he reached for the last to see if his gear would improve. Sadly he was doomed to be disappointed, while his personal gear teir had increased nothing of real note leapt off the menu.

Sighing he looked back to the build menu, with the new town advancing on his keep he could certainly wait and see just how much they were willing to sacrifice to drive him out, but by the same token some of the new additions screamed to be bought now! In truth he was seriously considering buying the graveyard, with scores of corpses in the unused wing of the first floor there was possibly dozens of unused undead waiting to be raised, just letting the bodies linger would be a waste even if teir one undead was pretty much just mob fodder.

Settling back Alexander kept his hands off the screens. Between his advancement and the increase in his options, he felt like a kid in a candy store. There was so much he wanted, so much dragging his attention that he was overlooking the immediate concerns that he should be focusing on. There was an unknown number of unknown quality troops marching on his keep, it was only defended by a dozen or so basic goblins, he'd send his scouts and his orc warriors to reinforce that front. With orders to capture and or wound as required.

On the Empire front, he would unleash the goblin knights and commander, their role would be to raid the towns surrounding his home town and bring back merits... err people. Frowning at himself Alexander didn't like the fact that he was starting to treat life beyond the dungeon as simple merits, getting into that mindset was walking down an narrow path, a slight bit of over confidence assuredly lead to falling headlong into the abyss.

With his calvary on the move he pushed his undead forward, coupled with the kobolds the living and nonliving forces should be able to handle the Empire assault teams with the hoplite in charge of the battle formations. While that commander was also just a skeleton, it seemed to retain its battle senses from when it was alive. As for the core chamber... he and Jansea would just have to stay alert. Glancing to the side he nearly face palmed as he saw the succubus with her corset like top tugged down to her waist and furiously fondling her now over sized breasts in fascination.

Alexander really had to wonder were lower level succubi the brains of that demonic form? It seemed as Jansea 'improved', her intelligence took a hit. Not to say he thought his guardian stupid by any extent, she could likely mentally run rings around himself, but personality wise she started to act more like an over sexualized bimbo than ever before. Rubbing his face and turning to look at Thersea he could only hope she healed fast and that her soul would reintegrate with her body quickly, to say watching Jansea knead those big crimson mounds was a slight torture for his desires was a gross understatement.

As he turned back to the observation windows his vision was interrupted by a multitude of messages from the dungeon...

===============

WARNING WARNING WARNING

Goblin (x14) has died outside your dungeon, cause: Extreme mystical explosion.

Orc Warrior (x5) has died outside your dungeon, cause: Extreme mystical explosion.

ALERT ALERT ALERT

Entrance #2 to the upper Kingdom of Tress has received critical mystical damage. Gate is shutting down.

===============

Alexander blinked as the some score of death messages scrolled by his face, the worst being there had actually been a power in that new kingdom that had the mystical might to critically damage the newest entrance. The only positive was that he now knew where the second entrance lead to... though, in truth, the Kingdom of Tress didn't ring any bells from his early education of local kingdoms. The Empire, naturally, was comprised of smaller kingdoms and its borders were contested by other kingdoms but none had the name Tress. Just how far away was it?

Shaking his head he shelved that particular concern for later. "Jansea, when you're finished groping yourself, a question."

Jansea coughed tucking her breasts, with difficulty, back into the top of her catsuit, "Mmmm yes Masterrr, what can Jansea answer for you?"

Alexander motioned to the slew of death messages, "Something just annihilated our keep minions and apparently also broke that door. As far as I knew, the bone gates shouldn't even be a physical existence. How was this achieved?"

Jansea blinked looking at the message with wide dark eyes, "Artifact. Has to be. Likely when whatever power saw your orcs it decided to preserve its troops and used a ritual to activate an artifact of destruction. Probably one of War's trinkets."

Alexander blinked again slowly turning to regard Jansea, "War as in one of the gods of war like Ares? or..."

Jansea laughed, "One of those puny pretenders? Not likely. I'm talking our Lords brother, War. Though might have been Conquest, they tend to work hand in hand."

Alexander sat back looking at the messages, "Right, so the Path of War or the Path of Conquest?"

Jansea nodded briskly, "Yup my Master. Though I always was told the Lord brothers didn't intrude in each others worlds. Guess our Lord wanted to shake things up!"

Alexander just stared at the succubus who seemed entirely too happy that Death just decided to dump him in front of one of the holdings of one of the other four horsemen. Upgrade? Death was screwing with him, again. Alexander face palmed, this was definitely revenge for claiming Ingrid, hells, at least he gave the wench dinner first before buggering her! Giving a long drawn out sigh he slumped down in his seat just staring at the some five thousand merits that just yeeted out of existence before his eyes.

Alexander looked to Jansea who smiled widely back to her Master, "Replace the orcs. Do not buy more goblins, get kobolds, they don't need female slaves. Watching that literal clusterfuck once was enough, never again. How do I repair the door?"

Jansea shrugged. "Dunno Master, I kill things or buy back what was killed. Door repairs are a little outside my skill set, it's not like it happens often... or at all really."

Alexander sighed, "Typical." As he was about to get back to work he stopped, "Wait a second... WORLDS?"
