Chapter 49 - Escape plan

A new day started with the sunshine waking Yilas up, though the room was nice and Mame's loving nature made Yilas felt welcomed, she couldn't forget the fact that she was being imprisoned. It had been days since Yilas been here in this room, the furthest she had been outside this room was to the bathroom which was only when she was accompanied by another female beast.

Their tightened security made Yilas feel uneasy, she complained about it to Mame all the time but she just quietly took it all in. These past 2-3 days Yilas had been focusing on reading as many books about cultivation as she can with the instruction of Mame. Either due to Yilas's love for book carrying on from the past life or all the books here were drawings that she had managed to finish about 26 books in total, forming somewhat of a basic understanding of elements cultivation.

"Ayya! You are already reading as soon as you wake up!" Mame walked in the room unannounced, she was going to wake Yilas up with breakfast but what she found was a little white ball curled up in her blanket, reading her new assignment already.

"Mame!" Yilas greeted her excitedly, Mame had been the only one Yilas was allowed to communicate with so her little world became even more depressing than the hospital. "I'm almost finished with this one, which one should I read next?"

Mame chuckled, this child must like to learn more than anything, she had never seen any beasts who was interested in this collection of hers, except for maybe one other beast.

"Stop that, for now, my child, come here and join me with breakfast." If Mame didn't tell her when to stop, this little girl wouldn't let the book off her hands.

"Okay!" Yilas got off the bed and sat down next to Mame, she was given some baked bread, which had been the usual breakfast routine.

"Today I have a special present for you, my dear," Mame said while she sipped on some tea, Yilas eyes immediately twinkled like stars. It really didn't take much to please this child. "Today I'm bringing you to the training ground where all the young beasts learn to control elements."

"R-REALLY?!!" Yilas exclaimed, she finally got to be out of this room. "CAN I REALLY GO?"

Mame immediately put the index finger on her lips, shooing Yilas to be quiet.

"Shhhh... Quiet down my child, if anyone finds out our plan is busted." Yilas covered her mouth with her hands, she was too excited to shut her mouth.

"Are we going to sneak out?" Yilas whispered as she got closer to Mame.

"That's right since today all of my spouses won't be giving their lecture at the training ground, it's the perfect chance for you to do some practice."

Mame smiled, Yilas giggled out of joy, she was so excited she couldn't help but to jump quietly. After they had finished breakfast, Mame called in a female beast about the size of Yilas and the young female proceeded to lay in the bed in her stead. Yilas was given the brown cloak the young female had on her when she came in and used it to cover herself from head to toe, leaving only a few inches at the eyes.

"Don't make a sound and just followed me, let me handle everything else." Mame didn't forget to instruct Yilas again and again before they head out.

Once everything was read, Yilas nodded her head to signal to Mame, they opened the door and passed the guards at the door easily, Yilas was holding her breath the whole time they speed through the castle.

"MiLady." "Master." "Madam."

All the beasts and guards they passed by all bent their body in a 90-degree angle to greet Mame, Yilas soon realized that her friend here must have been a respectable figure.

They passed through the castle with a breeze, Mame was quick on her feet but still managed to give some time for Yilas to catch up, luckily they got to the transportation cart without any issue.

Once they entered a simplistic looking carriage, it looked like something came from the old European culture but much simpler design. Yilas entered the carriage as pushed by Mame, they closed the door and both sighed loudly as soon as they were out of sight. Outside the carriage, a trusted beast-man had to start pulling on the vehicle, getting it to where he had been told.

Mame burst out laughing, she hadn't been this sneaky in years, it had brought back some good memories of her younger days.

Seeing Mame enjoying herself, Yilas couldn't help but join, she was also having fun.

"I don't even know if I am happy or sad that the guards were so easily fooled, hahaha." Mame pulled off the head covering for Yilas, brushing all her frizzy her back in place.

"You can't blame them, after all, who would expect their employer to be the one tricking them." Yilas smiled, Mame caressed her flushed cheek and laughed. "But what if the trainees there see me, Mame? Wouldn't they report me to your spouses immediately?"

"Don't worry, the matter of your staying had never been made public, so they don't know anything about your existence if anything they would just think you're one of my special guests."

"That's reassuring, so what are we going to do there?" Yilas curiously asked if she could freely roam around then it would be great.

"First I'm going to give you a tour, then we can start with your practice of course."

Sooner than Yilas expected, the carriage came to a stop, Mame swiftly pulled the cloak back on Yilas head right before the beast-man opened the door for them.

Yilas stepped out the vehicle with the help of Mame, her foot touched a hard sandy floor. Even though it was only a few minutes' travels, the terrace looked completely different from the castle.

They looked like they were on a ranch in the desert, there was nothing around but sand and more sand. The fabric tent was as high as 20 feet tall and scattered around the perimeter of the place, the whole ranch was triple the size of a football field, which made it looked like a small village on its own.

"WOWWW!" Yilas gasped at how gigantic this place was, Mame proudly smiled and showed her inside.

First, they came across barns with haystack piled up sky high, beast-men and beast-women were working inside and outside the barn. There were also people who walked in the yard lively, every beast they had pasted, they greeted Mame in the same manner as the guards and servants in the house.

Next, they took a peek at classes in session in tents and out in the open field. Inside the tent, children as small as 10 years old were attending lectures, some in the same classroom were as old as 30 years old, their age gap surprised Yilas.

The open field training was where they spent the most time, Mame and Yilas stood from afar watching many beast lined up in parallel lines and toke their turn at shooting a target which was about 50 yards away.

All the students raised their arms in synchronized motion straight in front of their chest, and soon a small ball of fire or water or air was formed, shooting at the target mercilessly and quickly.

"WOW!!!!" Yilas gasped again, Mame laughed and teased her.

"If you open your mouth so big you gonna catch a fly." Yilas giggled at her jokes, everything was so amazingly new here she couldn't help but felt like a child in a candy store. All the knowledge she had gathered from those books could finally put to use.

"Madam, why don't you join us and give these youngsters some instruction?" An old man with half-balded white hair called out for Mame, his body was tiny, even shorter than Yilas, he looked so weak and frail that Yilas even wondered how he could still be out teaching.

"Old geezer, you know I don't like to show off!" Mame yelled to answer the man, but she still walked closer anyway, Yilas was hesitant to follow but she still did it.

"See who's calling me a geezer, you know I'm not that much older than you!" The old man said sulkily. Though he looked over his 60s, and Mame couldn't be a day past her 30s, Mame laughed and hugged the old man like they were great pals. Yilas wondered what the man said was true, that Mame might be a lot older than she looked.

"And who do we have here?" The man could barely make out the brown shape in front of him, but the smell scent of a fresh spring couldn't escape his strong senses.
