"What's up with you and Crown Prince Felix?" Roselyn asked Xander as she took a sip of the sparkling water that her guardian/mentor had ordered for her.
He believed that since she had classes early in the morning, she should stay away from alcohol, but she believed the other way around. Since it was the last night of her remaining freedom, she should be drinking to her heart's content. Unfortunately, Xander wasn't impressed with her idea at all, hence she ended up enjoying sparkling water.
The dark elf stopped in the midst of taking a sip of his cocktail as he spared her a quick look before stating - "Nothing that should be of your concern." He was drawing the clear line but his statement only made Roselyn more curious to know exactly what was going on between these two men.
Still, she decided to not test Xander's patience with her and stopped pursuing the matter as she would probably get enough time in the future to find out about them and exactly whatever was their story.
Her eyes scanned her surroundings and she immediately regretted looking away from Xander at all. Seeing so many shadow bearers filling the bar where her guardian had taken her to spend some relaxing time, she felt a very unhappy feeling taking home inside her. How was she supposed to feel relaxed when she was surrounded by people who were the complete opposite of her?
"Are you prepared for your classes?" Xander suddenly asked her as he emptied his glass and placed it down on the bar table before he turned to face her, giving her an excuse to look at him once again without it looking weird.
Roselyn took in a deep breath before she shook her head in negative. "I'm not and I don't think I will ever be prepared for it." She decided to tell him the truth because there was no point in lying to him or sugarcoating her words.
Xander just nodded his head but didn't comment any further. The two of them stayed there for a while, enjoying a couple of more drinks before the man finally concluded that it was time for them to return to the Academy.
When they returned, it was nearly midnight but the entire academy was lit with fire stones, candles, torches, and lanterns. Roselyn didn't even need any sort of confirmation to know that the previously abandoned place was now filled with students, she could sense the heaviness of shadow powers in the air.
The coming morning was not only going to write a new chapter in the book of her life, but it was also going to change her entire life.

Roselyn checked herself in the full-length mirror sitting next to the dresser in her walk-in closet and she couldn't deny that the reflection she saw put a smile on her lips.
Dressed in her royal blue Elite blood house uniform, she looked much younger than her age. With her long strawberry-blonde hair left loose and nude makeup, she looked just as amazing as a Princess should look.
Once done making sure that she was properly dressed, she attached the academy's emblem to her blazer's pocket before picking up her backpack and heading toward the door.
Since she was too nervous and anxious about her first day at the academy as an official student, she completely ignored the breakfast that was sitting on the dining table and waiting for her.
Xander had already left nearly half an hour or so ago and there was no trace of River anywhere in the entire Royal Elite Dorm.
She headed downstairs and walked out of the dorms before heading toward the North Tower where the first year students were supposed to attend their classes.
Unlike before, the Academy was now filled with students from all four houses, dressed in their respective house uniforms as they floked around the academy grounds, heading in different directions as they headed for their classes.
If she thought that she could stay under the radar and far away from the interest of the Academy students, then she was definitely more than just mistaken. After all, how come they won't pay attention to a spirit fae who was now the biggest sensation of not only in the Academy but throughout the entire Shadow Realm.
Though the only information provided about her sudden and unexpected appearance in the Shadow Realm and particularly, in the Shadow Academy, by the council was that it was all due to a new agreement between the two realms. They didn't explain any further and just asked everyone to be respectful toward their guest.
The question was, if these people knew the actual meaning of being nice.
Roselyn avoided all the curious eyes following her as she made her way through the entrance of the North Tower. Thankfully, there were much less students wandering inside the building compared to the outside.
The North Tower was a seven storey building with the ground floor as a common resting and studying area, first floor as a library only for the First Year students, and from second floor onwards all were registered for classes with the top floor used for astronomy and divination classes.
Roselyn was happy with the fact that different year students were assigned with classes in their own separate buildings, mainly because it meant she won't be getting lost while searching for her classes and also because she could easily ignore Prince River who was a final year student.
Still, as she ascended the stairs and headed toward the fourth floor where her first class of History was going to take place, she heard the nearby students whispering.
Not wanting to know whatever those people were whispering about, she did her best to ignore them or their whispering, her weakened senses helping her in the process.
She was so lost in her thoughts that she completely missed the person heading toward her with dozens of books and scrolls filling his arms which soon went scrolling around as they both ended up colliding.
