Chapter - 3: My childhood friend is a vampire?
-------------
Stepping out of the bathroom, I faced Victoria, my childhood friend who had known me since I was just a boy.
"Noah, what the hell are you?" Victoria's voice was tinged with curiosity and intensity, as if she was trying to peer into my very soul and unravel all my secrets.
But as usual I promptly ignored it, while I couldn't help but notice a singular detail that was driving me completely crazy or maybe I already was, I just didn't realize it.
- Had she always had crimson eyes? My answer would be, no.
I tried to ignore her question as I could only think of all the time we had spent together, and her eyes, once electric blue in my childhood memories, were now a striking crimson red.
- I couldn't help but wonder if the people around me were not as simple as they appeared...
However, for the moment I had another goal in mind. "Wait a second..." I couldn't help but say, as I watched Victoria pause from beginning to make any long, and grand explanation.
And as my mind processes the change in her appearance. My curiosity got the better of me, and I quickly grabbed my phone, opening the camera app. I started taking pictures of the captivating girl before me.
"Oh, how beautiful! You're the best," I remarked, captivated by the uniqueness of her crimson eyes.
"No, not the best, I simply can't find the words..." I mumbled, realizing how inadequate my words were to describe her allure.
"I mean, you're the best! These photos are going straight into my collection of goth girls!" I continued, clicking away until I was satisfied with the shots.
Victoria observed my actions with a strange look, but I wasn't fazed. In our circle of friends, I had always been the odd one out, known for my love of risk-taking and my honesty.
As I put my phone away, I smiled at Victoria, appreciating the mystery she now embodied. "So, are you going to tell me what's going on with the crimson eyes?"
Victoria chuckled, her enigmatic aura unfazed by my straightforwardness. "It's a little something from my world," she replied, evading a direct explanation.
I raised an eyebrow, knowing that she had her reasons for keeping her secrets. After all, we all had our mysteries to guard.
"Well, whatever it is, you'll always be my childhood friend, crimson eyes or not," I said with a smile, a little teasing.
Victoria's expression softened, and she gave me a knowing look. "And you'll always be the risk-taking, honest, and curious friend I've known since we were kids," she replied, acknowledging our history together.
"Noah," she exclaimed, in a tone her knew, "How did a simple human like you kill a noble vampire?"
My heart skipped a beat as I tried to process her question. How did her know? I thought the matter with my encounter with that subspecies of fucking vampire was as good as over.
- It seemed that I had been wrong....
"I ... don't know what he's talking about," I said, trying to avoid the topic, hoping her would not elaborate further.
But in an instant Victoria appeared before me with a speed I could not comprehend. She gently grasped my chin with an intimate and very gentle air as her crimson eyes fixed on mine.
"Stop lying, Noah," she said with a hint of intensity. "We monitored the situation closely. It was our job to deal with the supernatural entities that enter our territory and start harming humans."
"Ours?" I could only mutter as the taste of iron or rather blood seemed to linger, seeming to linger into the surrounding environment.
"Yes, ours," she confirmed, revealing her fangs in a smile that was oddly endearing. A faint blush spread across her face, making her even more captivating.
"You're a vampire..." I managed to say in a shocked tone. "That's so cool!" Excitement surged through me, and I couldn't help but wonder about her abilities and if she could change forms.
Victoria looked at me with surprise, and then burst into laughter, her stomach tensing with amusement. "Hahaha, you really are completely out of your mind, Noah."
"Why?" I couldn't help but ask. My childhood friend was a fucking vampire, and I couldn't help but be excited thinking about the things we could have done together for fun.
Victoria's laughter echoed through the room as she held her stomach, rolling over on my bed. After a moment, she stopped and locked her crimson eyes with mine. "In cases like these, you should feel fear, Noah," she said, her tone serious.
Instead of fear, I felt a deep sense of trust and acceptance for my friend. I approached Victoria slowly, kneeling on the floor to meet her gaze. I lightly touched her face and stroked her cheek.
"To me, Victoria, you will always be the same person I've known all these years, vampire or not," I said sincerely.
Her red eyes that were glowing seemed to lose intensity, then her smile grew in a distorted way that showed all her sharp teeth; this smile just only made me more excited, but her words held a touch of lust.
"You are really special, Noah," she replied, her voice tinged with both amusement and admiration.
After my words, Victoria swiftly moved away from me with a speed that left me in awe. She held her hand close to her mouth, and I could sense a hint of vulnerability in her actions as she tried to avoid meeting my gaze.
- But I could not understand why her face became more flushed? And her eyes looked at me like prey, as if her wanted to suck me to death....
Feeling a bit uncertain about how things worked in her vampire world, I decided to give her a little space. I waited patiently, giving her time to collect her thoughts and emotions.
After a few minutes, Victoria had calmed down, and she looked at me with appreciation in her eyes. "Noah, I want you to understand something," she began, her voice gentle yet firm.
"My family and I are the ones who control this area and remain safe. We take our responsibility seriously, which is why I needed to understand what happened with that vampire."
I was taken by surprise, with my heart pounding in my chest. I had no idea that Victoria and her family were actively involved in having some control in the city from supernatural threats.
"I ... didn't want to be involved," I managed to say, feeling vulnerable under her piercing gaze. "It was just ... a fluke, I guess."
Victoria's expression softened slightly. "Luck or not, you managed to survive against a noble vampire. That's no small feat."
I swallowed hard, still processing the revelations and unsure how to respond. Victoria's closeness, her intensity, and her vampire nature were overwhelming, but at the same time I sensed an air of protection about me.
"I didn't want to bring trouble into your territory," I finally admitted, my voice full of sincerity. "I was just protecting myself to try not to get killed."
The atmosphere around Victoria shifted dramatically as soon as I mentioned the possibility of someone hurting me. Her expression transformed into one of fierce anger, and she bared her fangs, her face contorted with rage.
"Killing you? No one must even dare touch you by a hair's breadth!" she exclaimed fiercely. "If anyone even thinks about harming you, I'll use their fucking spinals columns to send a message they won't forget!"
Her intensity startled me, but at the same time, I felt a sense of reassurance. Victoria's protective nature made it clear that she would go to great lengths to ensure my safety.
"Victoria, it's okay," I said, reaching out to place a calming hand on her arm. "I appreciate your concern, but I don't want anyone to get hurt because of me."
Her anger seemed to subside slightly as she looked into my eyes, her crimson gaze softening. "You don't understand, Noah," she replied, her tone still firm but tinged with vulnerability. "You mean more to me than you realize!"
I felt deeply touched by her words and the intensity of her emotions. Her fierce protectiveness testified that she cared deeply for me. "I promise I will be careful," I assured her. "But I don't want my best friend to put herself in danger for my sake."
A faint smile graced her lips and she nodded. "Friends, sure..." She replied, in a warm and very sexual tone that sent shivers down my spine.
"Just remember that you are not alone in this world, Noah. There are forces beyond your comprehension, and we are here to protect you and the people you care about."
With these words, Victoria stepped back, her vampire aura retreating. She was again the childhood friend I had known, but now our friendship had taken on a deeper meaning, at least in my opinion.
As we continued our conversation, I could not help but feel a sense of wonder and acceptance. In Victoria I had found a friend who was a vampire, it really felt like the beginning of a light novel.
