In the midst of rain at noon. The city was already buzzing with tons of people doing their own routine. School, work, or even just casually walking on a rainy day. On that day, there was a girl sitting beside a statue of a dog wrapping her arms on her legs. She was beautiful, her silver long hair matching with baby blue eyes and her dress was pure like snow.
She was sitting there alone, for a century waiting for someone to notice her. She stared at the ground, like she already lost hope as the raindrops passed through her body but then, it stopped. The only thing she could hear was the noises of the humans and the rhythm of the rain; however, this was new… no raindrops falling on her… when she realized how weird it was, she looked up and her eyes widened.
There was a boy.
A boy with eyeglasses covering the non existing ghost with his umbrella. One drop fell, their eyes met each other, Another one drop, Milan eyes blinked at astonishing to see a guy maybe helping her and then one more raindrop her heart beat started to raise as her own soul getting absorbed by the clear hazelnut of the eyes of the boy.
Her heart didn't stop pumping, she felt like she was alive again… she felt emotions after all those years she had been roaming around. The only thing she knew was that she died from a typical car accident and her only name was Milan.
Suddenly a tear fell down from Milan's face. When she noticed her eye was crying, she wiped it off and continued gazing at the young boy. She examined the human boy. A mediocre tall guy, not that tall, not too short. A messy black hair and a school uniform. He was an average 17 years old guy who's almost at the graduating season for him.
I'm five years older than him, Milan thought.
The young boy didn't do anything or even speak a word. He was letting Milan use his umbrella. The only thing he had was a sour face, his eyebrows met, he kept sighing and he kept tapping his feet on the ground. He was hard to approach especially that annoyed face and his weird action of protecting a can't see person.
Milan mustered all her spirit and tried to get a conversation with him until a person, a young boy also however taller than the glasses guy came running to their direction waving his hand high and shouted "VIN!" as he approaches the glasses guy.
He immediately tackled Vin yet he dodged the tall guy. Vin didn't flinch at what passed by him, he only had this cold look and still continued to stare at Milan. She already lost her confidence when the storm came.
The tall guy regained his balance and turned his head to Vin, he raised his hand and his finger pointed to Vin as he clicked his tongue. The tall guy gasped, he was immediately frustrated.
"What the hell was that Vincent Ki?! You tried to avoid me"
"Sorry, I thought an enemy was trying to kill me so I had no choice to avoid. Better luck next time, Milo"
Milo, the tall guy was about to erupt but then Vin shook his head and sighed heavily. Another defeat to Milo.
"W-What was that supposed to mean?! You know you should be glad you have a dude like me as your friend or else you have already die alone"
"Yeah, you force me. I'm more glad to die alone than be with you" Vincent said as he left the umbrella with me and he went forward further to his destination.
"WHAT! WAIT YOU RASCAL WHERE YOU ARE GOING?!!" Milo, who was completely crushed, chased after Vin who was ready to leave him.
On the other side, the lonely ghost who lost her chance to confirm if that guy can either see her or not felt a prick on her heart. As Vin went far away, he himself slowly vanished from Milan's sight, giving her a heart attack.
Her breath was unstable and her face was sweating, at that time she knew she can't let this past, if he can see Milan, the ghost who've been lonely for ages would have a chance to spend her worthless life with someone and if he can't see him, well she'll give up and continue moving forward with an empty heart.
So she stood up, took the umbrella as an excuse to have a conversation and followed Vin and Milo who were on their way to school.
They arrived at the school at the lunch break. Everyone greeted Milo back while treating Vin like an invisible person yet he didn't care about such a thing. He went to the farthest desk and sat there. Milan went closer to him, she walked through the classmates carefully, not trying to pass through their body and keep saying 'excuse me' or 'I'm sorry' when she bump into one though they didn't notice it.
She arrived at her destination. She scanned him head to toe and took out her hand and waved it in front of Vin's face. "Hey, can you see me? I'm Milan"
Vin didn't flinched and continue to get some notebook out from his backpack. Milan tried it again instead of waving her hand she thought of trying to mess up his hair but it didn't work and he was already reviewing his notebook. Then she did something more ridiculous. She put her head inside the notebook back and forth "Peek a boo" making weird faces however he didn't laugh once.
This is the last chance, if he doesn't do anything, like anything. I'll stop disturbing him. Milan thought.
"Say, since you can't see me" she put both her hands on the desk and rested her face on it. She stared at the hazelnut eyes of him and smiled "I can kiss you right?"
Oh?
Vin's eyes slightly widened yet he turned the page of the notebook and then stood it up in front of Milan's face. She chuckled and mumbled "You're cute" he didn't respond.
"In the count of three. I'll kiss you. If you hate it dodged it"
'Of course, if you did that, that means you can see me.'
"One" Milan went closer to Vin's face. "Two"
She was inch closer to his lip "Three" she kissed him immediately but instead of having that slow moment she was at the floor, face down and like she said, she kissed him… the floor that is. Milan passed through, she forgot she was a ghost.
She sighed and took a glance at Vin yet he wasn't interested in her. That's when she thought that he could not see her. She stood up from her fall, brushed her dress and fixed her hair. When she was about to leave the classroom suddenly, she tripped for no reason and kissed the floor again.
Milan heard a chuckle. She looked up and saw Vin staring at her and laughing. Her eyes went wide and stood up quickly "You can see me?!"
Vin gasped softly and went back to his notebook.
"You can totally see me! Oh my gawd. After ten years someone finally saw me. Hi! I'm Milan, a ghost for ten years. Omg you don't know how hard it was talk to someone like one day I tried talking to a ghost "
Vin didn't notice her.
"Come on, stop pretending. I know you can see—"
The bell rang and everyone went back to their seat. The whole day he didn't listen to any Milan say yet that didn't stop her from talking. Just knowing that there is someone who can see her makes it fun to talk about her ten years as a ghost.
She got tired of talking after a while and just stared at the window as the class went on. Then she saw a raindrop on the window and then another one suddenly the rain got harder and harder. It was more rainy than the afternoon. She noticed it and she remembered she forgot the umbrella that Vin lent her and so she left the school.

The bell rang once again. The students excitedly left their classroom and met up with their friends. On the other hand, Vin who's left alone in the classroom arranged his supplies, put them in the bag and left the room. He went down and saw all the student body leaving with circles.
Nothing new from the everyday life of Vin. As he exited the rain poured harder. The loud noise and the scream of the students as they run off with or without umbrellas. Vin looked for his umbrella inside his back yet he couldn't find one and then he remembered, he left it with the ghost girl.
He sighed and put his bag above his head. He ran off before he could get wet more however the rain stopped around him, he saw a silhouette of a girl yet not her face when he looked up, he saw the same ghost who he helped and annoyed him on the same day.
Milan pulled her hand closer to Vin, with a smile that warmed the gloomy sky "Hi again. I'm Milan" She did a curtsy and glance at his eyes "Your friendly ghost"
Suddenly the sky full of dull clouds lifted up and saw a sun that was so bright with a nice warmth. The ghost girl holding an umbrella and a human boy who was speechless. The scene with full of sweet and warmth and tiny bit of humor was the start of the annoying life of the loner kid.
