Chapter 38 - Fourth Level

Kael ended their lives with fierceness. He slashed them with strength surpassing his past self. He killed them mercilessly, then wipes his sword to their furs. He proceeded with hastiness to see if the troubled adventurers were still alive or not. If the former, then it was a reason to celebrate and help them. But if the latter, then it will be a waste of time because everything's too late. He went down to the stairs with torches hanged in the walls. No glowing stones this time in the walls. It seemed the torches burned like an eternity because it doesn't run out of fuel. Maybe an invention Kael hasn't thought of in the past. There were not lacking craftsman and inventors in Lumia. He considered himself one of them. Walking in spiralling stairs towards the fourth floor made him feel that the place was really deep. Having stairs made him speculate that it maybe was a kilometer deep. Moreover, these walls and stairs were made of cement. Making it more mysterious. Maybe it was built since ancient times and was attacked by kobolds, making it their home.

He walks on the stairs and ended up in the last step of the staircase. There was a huge place where the walls have glowing stones ores, here were glowing stones that illuminated his path. His path was wide and it smelled blood from the distance. The smell comes from the fourth floor. He hurriedly walks in the place while minding where he stepped in. He was extra careful when he steps because tripping on the stones will make his ankle sprained.

Tak! Tak! Tak! Tak!

He arrived at the entrance of the fourth floor and the cave was still illuminated by the glowing stones. If it was not illuminated by glowing stones, then he will use his floating lantern. He reserved it for dark places like this. He then hurriedly dashed to the cave. In the past, he read about the mana sense. It was written in the book of the "magic basics" of his dad.

It was written in it that the mana was everywhere and you just gonna feel it. Not all are capable of feeling the mana and the ones who can have the potential to be mages. All living things have mana and one can feel it if he was destined to be a mage–Kael was one of it. There were job classes that use mana but they were not as proficient as mages.

Kael focused and he felt the tiny bits of mana in the cave. He felt the mana of the monsters. He felt that he can see more than his eyes can. He can use [Mana sense] for long periods, but not while in battle. He needs extreme focus if he wants to do it.

He located the survivors by his [Mana sense] and they were in the east side. Alive and breathing.

Kael then felt that they were trapped by the kobolds. They were located on that part of the cave and it was full of kobolds there. There was away on the other side but it was blocked by rocks. Kael then dashed in their direction. Then he saw that the kobolds were destroying the door towards the adventurers. They were lucky to find a room with a door. It was a room for stockpiling the pickaxes.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

They pound the door with their swords. In the room of pickaxes, there was a party of adventurers that were trapped. There was a leader that was a Priest, a vanguard of Knight and Paladin, a rearguard of the Priest, and a scout that was a Rogue. They luckily found the room where they were saved but as well as trapped.

"Guys, I'm so sorry. I let you all down. Trent sacrificed himself to let us escape, but here we are in this room, trapped," Said their leader.

"Don't be discouraged! You're our leader so it's your job to lead us. His sacrifice was not in vain because we're saved. Let's survive this together," Said their Rogue.

"Guys, I don't want to die being single! At least I wanna marry my girlfriend. If I survive this, I'm gonna propose to her," Said their knight.

"And who's the best man?" asked their Rogue.

"Guys, let's survive this, and let's eat dinner! It's all on me!" Said their Paladin.

"Hey, guys! If we will survive this, well let's survive first! So arm yourselves. Fight to the death!" shouted their leader.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

They heard from outside the door.

Bang!

A kobold was flown in the room from the door. The door was destroyed in the process. From the door, there emerged a young boy with a plain-looking face–brown and has black hair.

"Everything's alright? Is everyone okay?" He asked.

"Save, Trent!" Their leader said as he kneeled without a second thought.

"He's on the fifth floor! Please save him!" They said without a second thought. They saw it as a powerful person, not a weak and helpless child. He was strong-looking without his face seen and has a bloody sword that made them think he was not an ordinary person.

"Stay here I'll be back with him," Kael said as he hurried to the fifth floor.

He used all his strength to dash. This was a race of time and every second was important. He encompassed the glowing stone-lit cave, then arrived at the entrance of the fifth floor. He didn't meet monsters, because he finished them off recently outside of the door with pickaxes.

They successfully arrived on the fourth floor, but they left one of their comrade on the fifth. They locked themselves up in the room of pickaxes and was safe until they were found by Kael. They found their luck because Kael found them. Kael felt dismayed by their actions, leaving their comrade to survive. But they were only fear-stricken, making them lose their rationality. Dismaying as it seems but it happens a lot in this world.
