Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1. EXCURSION

"Beware ! Behold the great sword of Estailux kingdom ! This sword will be the bearer of your doom", howled Arsenio. He held the sword in his right hand at the top end of the grip and the other hand at the bottom of the grip, closer to the pommel. He brought his sword forward towards the man with a scar on his forehead. He stepped towards the man, and then slightly to the right. Then, he brought his sword down in a straight line and took a strong hit on the man. The man got a cut on his abdomen.

He lifted his arms and sword above his head to invite the man to attack. When the man began his attack, he blocked the move with his sword. He held his sword in place and lifted his foot towards his groin. He pushed his foot against the man's body to push him off balance and attacked him furthur. The man got another bruise on his shoulder. He fell on the floor with a thud. The man was a royal guard. His defeat from a seventeen year old young man turned him into a laughing stock.

After the combat, a beautiful girl approached Arsenio. Eiddwen, Arsenio's sister took a glance at his brother and held his hand out of fear. Then, they both began to leave together. Abruptly, their path was blocked by king's guards.

" Hey boy, You think we'll let you go just like that?", said a man with a grin on his face.

" I suppose you don't want me to humble you too", asserted Arsenio.

The man gaped at the young man and chuckled.

He ran his hand on his hairs and declared, "You both are to accompany us to the royal court. The man that you 'humbled' was none other than the royal guard himself. You will be severely punished for your impudence".

The fear in Eiddwen's eyes deepened. Arsenio gripped her hand more firmly and commenced moving with the king's guards. While shivering with fear Eiddwen whispered to Arsenio," I wish you wouldn't have done that. If we were at home, we wouldn't have to undergo these anguishes. I wish to go home. I miss my Mother".

Arsenio made a gesture by bringing his index finger towards his lips. He wanted her to be silent. While trying to restrain her tears from falling from her eyes, she started pondering about the events that led them to this unfortunate predicament.

While stairing at the meadow, Eiddwen looked hysterically at the ball of light. That ball of light reminded her of the incident that took place few hours ago. The incidents that preceeded after going to the Royal Analysis Vault. She remembered that their school, Lakewood High School decided to take them on an excursion to the museum. In the museum, there were enormous artifacts, portraits and medieval manuscripts written in latin. The attraction of the museum was the portrait of king Almenor Nigeller, the great ruler of Estailux kingdom. While the whole class made their way towards other artifacts, Arsenio kept stairing at the portrait of the great ruler. Noticing the absence of his brother, Eiddwen drifted back to find her brother. She found him observing the scribbles that were written below the portrait.

Suddenly, a ball of white light glistened on the frame of the portrait. That light started drifting side to side on the wall. Then, it began to move towards a dark room. Heeding towards the strange ball of light, Arsenio lost all of the focus of his surrounding. He started pursuing the strange ball of light.

"Where are you going, Arsenio? Don't leave. We will get in trouble later", screamed Eiddwen while following Arsenio.

Thereafter, the ball of light expanded. Several streams of light discharged out of it. It was too blazing to behold. They both closed their eyes hurriedly. After opening back their eyes, they had a blurry vision. After batting their eyelashes and rubbing their eyes, they regained their vision back. When their vision got clearer, the surroundings seemed absolutely different.

They were surrounded by a fascinating landscape. All around them were verdant meadows. They stood on a high mountain. Therefore, the villages preceeding the mountain were visible from there. There was also a fortress in a considerably far distance. Eiddwen rubbed her eyes again and gawked with utter disbelief. Soon, they heard some sounds coming from some distance.

Eiddwen gaped at her brother and inquired, " What are we going to do ? What are those sound ? I wonder if we have commuted back in time". Arsenio glared back at her sister and instructed her to stay put where she was. Then, he followed the voices and reached a little deep in the forest. Arsenio realized that those voices belonged to a young couple who were fooling around. Gradually and silently, he went towards the bush and grabbed their clothes. On the other bush, he found himself a real fine sword.

After returning, he gave huppelandes to Eiddwen to wear and wore the other one himself. Thereafter, they saw a troop of pilgrims returning back from the pilgrimage to the town. They accompanied them back to the town. After listening to the discourse of the pilgrims, they realized that they are at a kingdom called Estailux kingdom. After reaching the village, a man approached them boorishly. He was a royal guard who collected alms from the common mass. After ogling Eidwen , he was bewitched by her beauty. While having a smug on his face, he approached her. He attempted to grab her by her hand but was pushed back by a brute force. It was Arsenio. The men battled and the royal guard ended up disgracing himself. Afterwards, what followed was their expedition to the great fortress.

Thereafter, Eiddwen saw the ball of light flicker and then it disappeared into thin air. Then, she heard the royal guard's discourse. They were conversing about how ruthless and atrocious their king was. Eiddwen gulped in fear. Arsenio gave her the glare of assurance and whispered, " I will always protect you ". Eiddwen looked pleased and walked the rest of the way serenely. Once they reached the palace, they heard a howling voice. It seemed masculine. The sound could throw chill down the spine of anyone who would be present there. The sound resonated through the hallways. Eiddwen quivered dreadfully. Arsenio didn't even bulge. He seemed lost and didn't utter a word. When the sounds stopped, the guards hurled the siblings to the Great Hall.

One of the guards had a dirty smirk on his face and uttered to Arsenio, "Welcome to Lyonhall Citadel". Arsenio had a staid expression on his face. Seeing him unruffled, Eiddwen was astounded.

When they took a glance at the floor of the hall, a man was lying there with severed head who had bruises all over his body, and blood dribbled out of it. Arsenio stood collected and calm. On the other hand, Eiddwen's body went cold and she found it really hard to breathe. She felt as if her blood congealed in her veins. Then, she took a glance at the man on the throne. He had dark straight hairs, tyrannical azure eyes and sharp features. He wore the finest silk which was covered in blood. While ascending the throne, he resembled great Gods of Olympus. He had dreadful eyes, a petrifying look on his face and an intimidating semblance. One of the guard came upfront and enlightened the monarch of the deed of the young man. The hiemal hearted man averted his eyes towards the young man. After scrutinizing Arsenio, he observed a delicate figure hiding behind him. He made a gesture by raising his hand to order his guards to leave, then, he raised his other hand and called over his minister. He diverted his face from the young boy and articulated in a composed voice, " Behead them!! "
