"I can't do that. Elliott you see there is vampire the race, and vampirism the disease I can't give you the sickness because one that is wrong and two I am of the race" I was visibly confused, why where there two types of vampires that doesn't make any sense.
"what's the difference?"
"vampirism the disease kills you before bringing you back it is past on through blood and makes you consume life force to live, but you will live for as long as you are consuming life force. it also makes you stronger and faster, but you lose humanity and any emotions you felt in life." I was almost sold on the disease, the last part however, was a deal breaker. "vampires the race live forever but they need human flesh or blood to sustain themselves, kinda like how humans eat chicken. You still eat chicken, right?" she had to be joking
"yes" she was messing with me, what else could it be.
"ok we get the same improvements as the disease though, but we get stronger the longer we live. once we hit seven hundred and fifty, we also get a transformation, but we lose ourselves in them. I was told we are unable to even distinguish friend from foe, to the 'beast' everything is food" wow that was a lot to take in, I kinda wanted to live forever though. wait how old is veronica? "may I drink then dear Elliott?" I nodded my head and she grabbed my arm and started to drink; it was oddly pleasant with only mild pain at the beginning
"veronica, how old are you?" she held up her hand signalling me to wait, so I did it only took another minute before she stopped
"I don't know, what year is it?"
"twenty twenty, its April" why doesn't she know the year
"then I'll be around one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five this year, around June" I really want to ask why she didn't know the year but then she goes and answers my question "it seems as if I was asleep for a very long time, I can slowly feel my powers returning. Thank you" her eyes went back into her skull, and she collapsed in my arms I didn't know what to do so I just held her. I grabbed a comic again and began reading. I'm not sure how long I spent reading but when I finished, she was staring at me. realising that I was hugging her tightly as I read, a blush came to my face I let go and she chuckled "your adorable Elliott" she chuckled as she walked out the room "common lets teach you about your new pet"
"I thought we were going to learn magic" I followed behind after a minute
"we will but this takes priority" so we walked downstairs to where my new puppy was, obviously I came up with a name that I thought was awesome
"hunter, come hear boy" the warg ran at me and pinned me down as it licked my face "veronica" I struggle to get the words out with the assault to my face "how long do wargs live?"
"as long as they have a master, if they don't have a master then a month"
"so, if I live forever so will hunter?"
"yes" that made me happy someone that will always be with me no matter what "anyway you can talk to hunter through a telepathic connection he always knows what you're thinking, he will not attack me as you view me as a friend but if ordered to he might not care about that, it is weird why his previous master told him commands instead of thought them. But regardless practice" I looked up at her 'hunter go over to veronica and go to sleep' hunter now getting off me and walking to her, he lies down and goes to sleep "yes! I did it first try" I was happy. I was already better than the old master and I only had him one night. Veronica looked up at me and smiled "right then lets learn magic, first the deal, if you get it right first try I will agree to whatever you put forward" she said that suggestively, and probably to motivate me.
"explain to me how I do it then"
"ok, so you feel for the mana inside of someone, feel for my mana keep searching until you find it, it should make you feel something deep in your bones, then make me agree with whatever you put forward three times and shake my hand" and so I tried and focused I meditated and after what felt like a few hours I think I found it. It felt like the cold and tasted of strawberries " I'm ready" I got up and put my hand out so she could shake it "do you want to be around me and support me for as long as I live and I'll support you at the same time? … oh, and help me find some way I can live forever?"
"sure" she smiled at what I said probably because it was kinda what she said just a bit more personal
"really?"
"yes"
"you sure?"
"yes, I'm sure" she went to take my hand then but then I remembered what she said right before she shook my hand when she made the deal
"thrice heard and bound by the law of the deal" then we shook as her smile deepened the same light show as before, but now I recognise the red lights as her. That must mean that the green is me.
"so, you caught that from before, interesting choice of words Elliott. At least propose to me beforehand. damn" she rolled her eyes as she chuckled, so I knew she wasn't serious.
"shut up I didn't mean for it to sound anything like a marriage proposal" I blushed though even through my laugh "this is going to be fun, I feel like nothing could go wrong now" why did I have to say It again, I've double jinxed myself now. God damn it, fuck welp I'll have to worry about it tomorrow "veronica I'm going to head up to bed, it's getting late goodnight" I headed up to my room and slept hoping tomorrow will be as good as today.
