Chapter 7 - Chapter 7. Midnight Swim

I smile, looking into her eyes.I glance away. She chuckles, standing. I look up at her, as she dives in head first. She surfaces, with her hair slicked back, laughing. Just then, cheering could be heard as everyone gets into the water with their boyfriends and girlfriends. I laugh as she swims in a circle, splashing me with cold water. I take a swig of beer before diving in. I come up for air and laugh as Kendrianna smiles and Looks at me happily. People are laughing and cheering, playing and dancing. It felt nice to be home.

I pull Kenny to me, and pick her up. I look into her eyes, and smile. She figures it out and holds her breath. I throw her into the water and I break into histarics. She gasps for air and splashes me. I smile and grab her hand as we swim back to shore. I walk to grab my beer off the end of the dock and returned to Kendrianna, who is sitting by the fire, with a lemonade. I sat with her, wrapping my arm around her shoulder. We had been bestfriends for so long. She took my half empty beer and poured it into her lemonade, taking a sip. I chuckled and grabbed a new bottle from the iced cooler. People were still playing in the water, leaving me and her the only ones on the beach.

I sipped my beer, wanting to spark conversation."So how's your boyfriend? You know, the sporty dude, who didn't go to any of your soccer games?" I said laughing, as I was a little buzzed. She laughed and took a drink of her lemonade beer mix. "That mother fucker? I dumped him months ago! Honestly, shortly after you left back to new Orleans.." She said as she looked at me, with her dripping wet hair fell across her soft skin, other than some small acne scars and freckles.

I looked away and placed my beer on the ground beside me. Sighing, as if gaining courage, I turned and pressed my lips against hers. Her lips were smooth and soft, like silk. Her hands traced my face, lining my defined jawline, and tracing my skin. She broke the kiss, breathing heavily. She smiled and whispered just loud enough for me to hear: "That's was my first kiss..." She said. Her words were slow but honest. I smiled, knowing that I was her first kiss. Thinking that we weren't even dating, and the guy who she dated for almost a year never kissed her. I pushed away a lose strand of hair from her face.

I stood, holding my hand out to her. She tilted her head, but grabbed my hand standing to her feet. We walked away from the fire onto a small path to a opening near the river downstream. I pointed to a small island and smiled. She steped towards the water, letting go of my hand, I ran into the water and dove in, swimming slowly to the island, laughing and waving for Kenny to join me. She smiled gleefully and ran in, following me.
