Chapter 196 - Proposal

"Hubby, I'm here!" Selina pushed open the door after knocking twice. When she knocked on the door, he already knew it was her. Separating the proposals on his desk into three separate columns, he told her to come in. Since she hung out with the girls and attended her doctor's appointment, he thought she would be too tired to do anything. Unexpectedly, the moment she gained his permission to enter the office, she dashed right into his arms. Her arms wrapped around his neck and her knee was filling the gap between his thighs.

"Hubby, kiss!" She smiled dazzlingly, luring him in for a deep kiss. Since it was already after work hours, he considered it his prize for working during private time. With one arm hooked around her waist, he pulled her onto his lap and held her legs in place.

"Did you find something you liked earlier? You are more hype than usual. " He bit her bottom lip. The sweet taste on her lips was as powerful as usual. Just one kiss was enough to distract him from whatever he was working on. Of course, his work doesn't get affected every time she visited him. Instead, it became his motivation to work harder.

"Mmmm... Somewhat. I'll tell you that later! Have you finished your work?" She kissed him on the cheek and leaned on his shoulder.

"Mm. My work is considered almost complete, but I have to make the final decision on which proposal to invest in. I also want you to give me your honest opinion about these." Jason tapped the three proposals on the desk and briefly explained what he wanted to look for in these proposals. After specifying certain points, he asked her to review the documents and vote for the best one out of the three.

"But this is Hui Corps' investment project. Isn't it not too great if I read their proposals and gave an opinion on them? I am not as experienced as you are and-." She noticed the smirk on his face and understood the devil CEO has determined to have her give him a reasonable answer.

He smiled, "Who is my wife?"

She answered. "Me."

He asked another question. "Who is the most important to me? Who is the one I want to spoil and love for the rest of my life?"

She squinted at him and answered, "also me."

He chuckled, "Then why would Hui Corps be just mine alone? You are my legal wife, the woman I love the most. What's mine is yours and what's yours will always be yours. So, why can't you read these proposals and express your opinion?"

Bringing his forehead close to hers, Jason whispered. "If my wife doesn't have the right to touch anything that is mine, then who would?"

"Ahhhh! Stop seducing me and let me read! We still need to have dinner and go home!" She took one of the proposals and covered her face with it. In fifteen minutes, she scribbled on sticky notes, placed them on different sections of the proposal and finished reading one file.

Swiftly taking the next one from the desk, she started reading again. With her efficient pace and high comprehensive skills, she finished reviewing all three proposals and voted for the one she believed was the best. When she explained her thoughts, she took out the proposals and made detailed comparisons that contributed to her final vote.

At the end, she voted for the same proposal he had on his mind. Hearing her in-depth response, he smiled and complimented her presentation.

"Wifey, have you looked at the corporation names yet?" He folded his hands and leaned back on his chair.

"Yes. If you want to ask why I didn't choose Jessica's dad's proposal to help them out, my presentation already explained my main points. Business is business. Private matters shouldn't be considered during business hours. Out of the three of them, my vote remains the same. As for what you want to do, that'll depend on yourself. I've given my best advice."

"Out of the three proposals, Wang corps' folder was the one that had over twenty notes marked for grammar mistakes. Without a doubt, this proposal had nothing to do with Jessica. On top of that, the other proposals were more appealing and contained better returns. So, why would this type of garbage ever be chosen?"

Of course, Selina also had a personal reason why she wouldn't have helped Jessica's father. However, it wasn't her fault that their company didn't triple check their work before sending it in. Therefore, she could use their poor submission as a reason to reject them.

When Jason announced their marriage in front of everyone at the party, the news spread wildly to every wealthy family in the business field. Gossip spread like a flood drowning a village. It would not be surprising to Selina if Jessica's parents tried using her and Jessica's friendship to seal the investment deal.

While having that thought in mind, Selina decided to give Jessica a call later about this topic.

At this moment, Selina's prediction came true.

In the middle of reviewing some finance reports at her company, Jessica received a call from her father. Seeing the caller ID on her screen, a hint of warmth and astonishment flashed in her eyes. After having the last argument with her parents, her father had been on a cold war with her. When she picked up the call, she couldn't help but feel slightly afraid of what words he wanted to tell her.

"Jessica, how were you doing recently? Just because we had a fight, you really wanted to be cold hearted to your father? You really won't come home to see me?" His voice sounded weak and a few coughs followed after he finished speaking.

Concerned by the tone of his voice, Jessica nearly jumped out of her chair. Although her mom had treated her poorly and her dad had been on her mother's side, he was still her parent. How could she really be stone hearted towards him? She pondered for a minute before expressing her thoughts about his health.

"I've been busy with work. Dad, the weather is changing. It is getting chillier. You need to wear more layers and not act strong. I was too busy to come home and see you. How are you doing?"

Around this time of the year, her father would suffer from flus and joint pains. She sighed, rubbing her temples with her eyes slightly closed.
