Selina's first impression to the Hui couple was a pleasant one. They liked her from the moment they saw how well-mannered she was. She looked very warm and welcoming; reminding them of somebody they knew.
After dinner, Selina offered to clean the dishes while Jason stayed with her in the kitchen. During this time, Celinda brought her parents upstairs to her and Selina's room. On their way to the room, Celinda gave the couple a brief summary of the things that has happened between Jason and Selina. Once they got to the room, the Hui couple thought about something that was too shameless to even say out loud.
Julia whispered softly, "Even though we can't get Jason and Selina to get engaged. If they happened to stay in the same room, Jason would still have to take responsibility for her reputation."
Celinda shook her head. "Mom, did you forget? Selina sleeps with me in this room."
"Then I can sleep with you while we stay here for two weeks. We have a lot to catch up on ever since your wedding. Your dad can sleep downstairs on the couch. Just say that he is not used to Jason's mattress and finds the couch more comfortable." Julia raised her fingers as she continued suggesting ideas to make this work out.
Celinda shook her head again. "Then brother can sleep downstairs with dad. Why would he share a room with Selina?"
This time, Nick answered with a clap. "I've promised in my wedding vows to never sleep with anyone but my own wife. Even though he is my son, my vows come before him. Earlier, your mother got angry at my misspoken words. So, I will show her how sincere I am. Another reason I could use is that he has work and should get sufficient rest. Since he is a light sleeper and I snore in my sleep, he should sleep in his room."
Celinda nodded her head and applauded for his creativity. "Wow. Your words and excuses only get worse. It barely touched the borderline of passing. Considering how nice and naive Selina is, she will probably believe your words, though. Just saying."
A part of her didn't know whether she should be crying or cheering that her parents haven't asked her about how her marriage life was treating her. They didn't even question why she was living with her brother. In a way, she felt relieved because she hasn't told them about her divorce and her ex-husband's adventurous death.
Celinda was planning to tell her parents when she visits them on her next trip. Struggling inwardly, she started brainstorming words and wondering what she should or should not mention to her parents. If she had the choice to not stay with her mother in the same room, she would do it. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case because they came up with the plan to make sure Selina stays alone with Jason.
Hence, she needs to seriously consider what to tell them to not give them a heart attack. Nevertheless, she could already predict how her parents would react if she told them about her two months and ten days marriage and how her husband drugged her before meeting his end. With the aphrodisiac reasoning alone, they would whip the crap out of him and carve words on his privates to warn the entire world of his doing.
Speaking of which, when her wedding took place, she had coupons left for fancy gowns. One of these days, she must redeem the discount with Selina and have her try on some dresses. Maybe after seeing herself in those dresses would make her consider marrying into the Hui family earlier.
Although she didn't provide any ideas for her parents, she wasn't planning to snitch on them either. However, this does not make her an accomplice as she maintains the title of being an innocent bystander who happened to overhear their conversation. She won't say or do anything; only watch on the side.
On the other hand, Julia was already downstairs with Nick, ready to take their acting to the next level. Celinda snapped out of her thoughts when her mother walked over to hug her arms.
"Celinda, it's been a while. There is so much mommy wants to talk to you about. Wait, no. There should be more things you have to talk to me about such as your marriage life. I need to give you some pointers on keeping watch on your husband since mine apparently wasn't sure that he wanted to marry me." She gave Nick a side glare, purposely mentioning the incident from earlier.
"I told you it was a mistake I made. I didn't mean it." Nick pretended to be slightly frustrated.
"Mom, I share the room with Selina. There's only space for two people. And dad would have to sleep alone." She stated facts and slapped it on the table.
Selina smiled, "It's alright. You can sleep with auntie. I'm sure the two of you will have a lot to catch up on. I could always sleep on the couch. It's pretty comfortable."
"Ah, about that. My bones are getting old and weak. The last time I visited Jason; I slept in his bed and had pain all over my body. His mattress is too hard for my back to handle. Also, I snore in my sleep and have a poor posture too. It would be more convenient for me to sleep downstairs instead." Nick scratched the back of his head, seemingly embarrassed to talk about his habits.
"Oh...then..." As Selina thought about other ideas where she could sleep, Julia interrupted.
"What about Jason's room? You two are skinny and his bed is big enough. If anything, he could sleep on the floor and you could sleep on the bed. This way, everyone will be sleeping comfortably." Julia smiled and looked at Selina for her opinion.
Compared to sleeping in the art studio, Jason's room was definitely a better choice. At the same time, it was his room. Even if she agreed with the idea, she still needed his permission to stay with him.
Selina fixated her attention on him. "Jason, what do you think? It is your room."
Jason's lip twitched during the entire family opera in front of him. Since the first line Julia had spoken, he knew they were up to something. As expected, they wanted to have Selina sleep with him in one room. He was glad about his family liking his girlfriend, but didn't like how they tricked his girlfriend into their trap.
Catching the anticipation in Selina's eyes, he smiled and rubbed her head. "Sure, as long as you don't mind sharing a room with me."
