Chapter 14 - 13

After I told a shocked Dianne my story, she looked like she couldn't breathe.

"Wow...how do you?... how did you?- ..."

"It's okay Dianne. I'm not sour so you shouldn't either."

"Well yeah! I mean you wouldn't be in shock like I am because you're literally the one living it!"

Well that's true.

"Okay. Why dont we just freshen up, you know with water or a drink or anything." I say trying to calm Dianne down.

"Yeah, coffee sounds great".

We come off the bed and walk all the way to the kitchen. She brings out two mugs and places them on the counter. After boiling the water and pouring the coffee grains in the mugs I notice she's making my favourite type of coffee.

"I know you're smiling 'cause I'm making a mocha for you."

"Yup!"

She giggled.

"You're so funny and carefree, I bet if you had life differently you would've been such a case!" She laughed at what she said.

"Yeah" I say sadly.

"I bet if you had life differently you would've been such a case!"... Why couldn't life have had me differently?

Dianne looks at me.

"Oh God! I'm sooo sorry, I didn't mean to make you sad!"

"It's okay Dianne. Things happen".

Just then, there's a knock at the door.

Dianne briskly walks to the door. I come and stand behind her, peeping at whoever was at the door.

"Oh my God, Brett why are you here again? Dianne asked with evident disgust and annoyance.

I peer over Dianne's shoulder to see a...

Omg this guy is hot.

In my front is a tall dark-haired man. He looks like he's around his mid-twenties. He has gorgeous dark-green eyes and messy blonde hair. His skin tight shirt just puts his 6-pack and broad angular shoulders on display. His muscles clench and unclench at given periods. He has this sexy angular jaw that's full of short blonde stubble. He has this pointed nose that makes him look so much like an aristocrat. He should be around 6'5" judging by how he's towering Dianne and I.

I just want to run my hand over his chin and feel those sexy abs.

I hear a cough which jolts me back to reality rather quickly. Dianne's no more in front of me. She's at my side looking at me inquisitively. I blush at the fact that I was caught staring. I'm very sure my cheeks are beetroot red right now.

"Uh...I'm sorry! I didn't know who was at the door so being curious and all I went to door to see who it was only to see this stunningly gorgeous man with pretty eyes and a hot body structure...uh I mean...sorry?" I shrug and continue to blush because I spoke outright nonsense about someone who's standing right in front of me.

"Sorry Brett, could you excuse us for just a sec? Thank you." She said rushing off with me without getting to hear a reply.

"I'm so sorry Dianne, I had no idea who it was and-"

"It's okay Kim. Many girls fall for him the moment they set eyes on him...some more than others." She says through gritted teeth.

"But" she continues

"I should've told you about him. Ugh." She let out a tired sigh as she walked over to the door and motioned for me to follow her.

"Before we say anything, I want to get introductions cleared out. Brett meet Kim, Kim meet Brett." She said motioning for us to shake hands.

"It's nice to meet you Kim, I've actually heard a lot about you." He says.

I'm a little taken aback by his statement.

Ooh, of course people have heard a lot about me.

"Pleasure to meet you Brett, I've actually heard absolutely nothing about you." I say.

Nothing's ever sounded so good as I hear a boom of laughter from Brett.

"Good one. I admire your sense of humour." He says still giggling a little.

Dianne and I look at each other. My face showed confusion because I felt that what I said didn't sound very funny and her's was of disgust as she rolled her eyes.

My confusion grew even the more as I didn't understand why she looked at him that way.

She obviously hates him for something.

But what?

"Alright Brett, what did you come here to do? Hit on another one?"

"Come on Dianne, you know it only happened once-"

"And so? I knew it was gonna happen eventually! Just throw someone's heart away like every day garbage!"

"Dianne dont be like that-"

"Brett, it's either you tell me what the hell you're doing here or I kick your sorry ass from this place." Dianne says throw gritted teeth. She looks so angry, and I've never seen her this way before.

"Dianne, I came here to apologise. I didn't mean to! I'm a man for crying out loud! When we see, we get!"

"Oh and I'm a woman with a delicate heart! If you want to play and have fun, there's always a prostitute club nearby!"

"Dianne, I'm sorry. I really shouldn't have done what I did. I was being an asshole and I shouldn't have acted that way or acted this way either. I'm sorry. You deserve so much more." He says coming closer in an attempt to cup her chin.

"Get away from me!" She says as she smacks his hand away from her.

"I told you to leave me alone but you still came back! What exactly can get through this blockhead of yours?!?"

"I'm only being adamant because I love you Dianne."

"No Brett, you don't love me, because if you did love me, you wouldn't have slept with another right in my fucking house!" She says, throwing a punch at his beautiful broad chest.

I admire his dodging skills because Dianne continues to throw random punches at him and he's dodging them one by one with so much ease it's fascinating. I don't know whether to intervene in their whole "relationship crisis" or I should stand there and watch silently.

Kim! If it were you, wouldn't you want someone at your side to stand by you when people like him show up? Weird or not you have to enter there and stop this from becoming bloody!

I begin to move my legs towards all the chaos. I manage to stop Dianne from throwing another punch at him. She looks at me with tears evident on her smooth face. Her mascara is all messed up because of this guy. I look at him and his face is full of sadness and concern. I'm hugging Dianne as she has dragged me to the ground with her and I'm telling her everything's alright but she continues to shake her head. He comes up to me, bends down and scoops her up in his strong arms.

A romcom gone wrong.

She's beating his chest but he doesn't seem to care. He sets her down on one of the couches and sits opposite her.

"Dianne, please calm down." He says trying to ease her.

"No Brett." She says with a sniff.

"It's because of you that I'm so emotional, don't you get that?"

"Of course I get that. But it hurts me to see such a beautiful girl like you cry. Angels aren't sad."

Awwwww! I hope I dont turn into jelly because of this guy's sweet words.

Dianne doesn't even look moved by his words. I'm very sure she is, but is trying her hardest not to show it. Well that's working.

I hate being caught up in this kind of madness. Come to think of it, who exactly is Brett? Obviously he's a hot guy Dianne is or was dating. He obviously hurt her by sleeping with another woman in her house while they were together. That's just dark. In her house? Woah. He has to be working here because they don't allow outsiders in a place like this. Judging by his stature, he should be a sexy bodyguard or something. But something about the way he cares seems so charming and...real. I honestly don't know what to believe because I'm obviously not meant to judge a book by its cover or in this case a hot guy with charming acts.

Just then, we hear a knock at the door.

A sobbing Dianne gets up to open the door while a shocked and confused Brett hides behind the couch he was once sitting on.

Dianne opens the door.

"Good morning Bob. What brings you here?" She says trying a fake smile.

"Oh, good morning Dianne. Actually I came her with a message. "

"A message?"

"Yes."

"From who exactly?"

"From the boss, regarding your care with Miss West."

My heart skips a beat when I heard who the letter's from.

He hasn't forgotten about me! I've been so caught up in this that I totally forgot the main reason why I'm here in the first place. Oh shit.

"Oh it's going good Bob. She's being well taken care of."

Bob squints his eyes.

"Hm, trusting that you're an amazing caretaker, I'll have your word that she's okay. But I and some others will be checking on her frequently until the boss summons her. You hear that?"

"Yes, very much."

"Alright, have a nice day now." He says as he walks away from the house.

Dianne closes the door gently and turns to me with a concerned look on her face.

I have too many problems to focus on anything else other than the fact that I can be summoned...at any time...
