Chapter 27 - Now for your regularly scheduled dramatic entrance

The two of them rushed over to the main floor.

They didn't know who it was or what they wanted, but they had to greet the one person who had the decency to make an appointment.

They flung open the doors and made their way past the tables over to the balcony.

The 'main floor' was a large room with a massive ceiling. There were four balconies in the shape of rings that acted as different stories. The reason why they were ringed was so the raised band in the center could be heard by all.

The dance floor separated the band from the balconies while giving ample room for people to enjoy themselves.

The boss frantically yanked a young couple away from the railing.

"Ahh!"

They screamed as they fell on top of each other.

Seeing the position they were in, they started doing it right there.

Several people moved away from the couple while giving the boss suspicious looks.

The boss, however; didn't even notice what they were doing as he tried to pick out the cloaked figures from within the crowd.

'Where is he? Where is he?!'

Unfortunately, the 'guild of cloak and shadow's' were having their monthly party, and half of the people there were wearing their cloaks.

He turned to look at his second and asked.

"How much time do we have?"

Suddenly the lights shut off, plunging the room into darkness. Causing many of the guests to be startled

*AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Went a high-pitched shriek that made people started to panic.

"What!? Is something wrong!?"

Someone asked out of reflex.

"No, I'm just scared of the dark. Sorry, everyone!"

"Wait a minute. You're afraid of the dark?"

Another voice asked before remarking.

"You joined a guild literally called 'the guild of cloak and shadows'!"

"I joined for the cloaks, shadows are overrated."

"Screw you shadows are awesome!"

No one could tell because of the darkness, but everyone was facepalming.

Suddenly light returned, but it was different.

There was a blue glow coming from the dance floor. Lines of magic formed a walkway from the entrance all the way to the back room.

Standing in front of the entrance were seven cloaked figures covered with glowing runes. Behind them was a much bigger glow to make them more eye-catching.

Intimidating music started to play as they marched in unison to the center of the room. The seven of them circling the band. The people that were in the area vacated the dance floor quickly.

Then they all stopped and stood there ominously. One of the members stepped forward and raised his arm in the air and said.

"Hit it."

The lights in the room doubled while maintaining the same aesthetic. The music cut out and was replaced with an upbeat tune.

The seven members started to dance to the beat and the other patrons started to cheer when they realized that this was all planned.

They watched as the seven members spun, posed, and swapped places while staying in sync. The only exception being one figure that couldn't seem to keep up, but it came across as comedic so people rooted for them.

This all peaked with the seven members circling the edge of the dance floor while high-fiving the crowd. After which the seven members returned to their original positions and took a bow.

The music lowered in volume as the group formed up and left through the backroom to the applause of the patrons.

The lights returned, and no one was the wiser that these 'performers' were patrons themselves.

Wanda heaved in exhaustion as she lied in a miserable pile on the floor

"Wanda are you okay? I told you that you didn't have to join in."

Grant said as he worriedly watched as Wanda barf her lunch into a trash can."

"I thought I could..."

She stopped as another wave rushed out.

"...do it. I didn't think it'd-"

The rest of the group shook their heads as she dry heaved.

"We tried to warn you. Doing something like this takes a lot out of you."

Brian said before turning to Grant.

"You held up pretty well out there."

Grant scoffed at the insinuation before replying.

"Of course, I did. I do this kind of thing all the time, only more elaborate and with more preparation. This was last minute, which is why I kept it simple."

"Sorry."

Wanda said from her can.

"Don't be."

Grant said while shaking his head.

"You did great for a first-timer! Especially since you didn't want to stretch beforehand."

Wanda finally put down the trash can and sat down in a chair that Grant provided. She raised a hand into the air and tiredly declared.

"I deeply regret my decision!"

The group shared a chuckle when they heard a cough behind them. They turned to see the boss and his second waiting for them.

"I assume you had a good time?"

He asked.

"Yeah, mostly."

Grant said as they all turned to look at Wanda.

"Just... give me a minute."
