Kyoya spent the night at Aunt Masako's apartment rather than going back to Rosy Mansion. The husband and wife cooked together and cuddled on the couch before going to bed, something they hadn't done much in the last three months.
For the first time in a while, Shouko felt peace while having him as her company instead of being haunted by her guilt.
Before, aside from feeling guilty whenever she thought of her failure to protect Little Riceball, a part of her guilt was due to her feeling sorry for Kyoya. Despite his reassurance time and again, Shouko couldn't help but berate herself for allowing such tragedy to fall onto their family.
That was one of the reasons she was reluctant to face Kyoya since the death of their son.
But, now, she had thought things through. She had to recollect herself and start swimming away from the dark abyss that was threatening to swallow her in its entirety.
