Ono drove the car in leisure with Shouko accompanying her in the co-pilot seat. Their ride to the airport was smooth with the latest pop song blasting inside the car. The neon lights illuminated the city penetrating through the car windows, casting a faint glow over their profiles.
A black nanny van followed from behind. Three of Shouko's bodyguards were in it.
Glancing at the van behind her car through the rearview mirror, Ono said, "It's as if I'm bringing a royal around. Your husband really couldn't do without having the bodyguards following you, alright?"
"What can I do? Many things have happened," Shouko smiled wearily. She reached out her hand and lowered the sound of the music, "I can't blame him for worrying about me."
Ono hummed in acknowledgment. Even though she said so, she understood the dilemma her brother-in-law was facing. She wasn't close to him, not like how Shouko got along well with Kyoya's family, but she knew his character well.
